Jam seems more of a UK food. We don't spread it between cake layers and on the rare occasion I order a scone, it is usually savory. The jelly eaten in P&B sandwiches is grape.

In the passive aggressive world of social media, Gwyneth Paltrow choosing last night to follow the original As Ever clothing store, and not to follow Meghan's As Ever, is the equivalent of a ringing declaration of war, and Gwyneth has picked her side.

Gwyneth is publicly staking her position on the side of the small company, and against the Netflix & Meghan behemoth which is steamrollering it.

Since A-Listers never make any potentially controversial move without thoroughly consulting with their peers and advisers, we can expect more celebs to follow.

......

I'm going to say something which the agnostics and atheists on this thread are free to ignore, but I'm religious and spiritual so I'll say it because I truly believe it in my soul (and have seen it proved time and again in my life and the lives of my circle):

People who abuse and/or disrespect their elders NEVER prosper. The fact that Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Shinto and Zoroastrianism are ALL explicit about this, tells us that this is the proven wisdom of the ages, even if you don't adhere to a religion per se.

People who disrespect their elders always suffer for it. Might not be immediately, but they do. You can attribute it to Karma, or simply to the fact that people who publicly disrespect elders lose their good reputations very quickly. No one wants to assist or buy from people who aired their parents and grandparents out to dry in public. Simples.

Can anyone tell me why she has chosen jam ( high sugar and very basic) as her product.

Does she do clothes or hair/skin products? Surely that would be the way forward. These can be marketed as high end and she clearly knows more about them then scoffing jam.

I agree with this.

Also Meghan's ARO jam doesn't look very nice. It was weirdly cloudy and the colour looked a bit muted. I'm not expert, but my mum made jam and it always looked more translucent. Add this to the constant crappy jam puns, I can't think who would buy it.

If she has her own hives, honey is more understandable. Local honey is really good for pollen allergies so the mass produced stuff is less good.

He doesn't realise. He's blinded by love.

do you think he is still blinded by love?
I think that initial "they can do no wrong" infatuation has a finite time before people see their partner without the rose tinted spectacles.

I think it’s all to do with his mother. She represents his mother for him in some way , so I don’t think that need and attachment will ever go away. It’s John and Yoko.

Because she imagines she’s going to be producing a range like the Duchy enterprise. She’s copying again. No doubt she thought if Charles could do it, She’d do it better.

Nacho's wife also following the As Ever clothing instagram. I wonder if her and Gwyneth were already followers of the brand before Meghan stole their brand name ?

I think what is happening to Meghan now is a bit like the playground bully terrorising a kid, pushing them over, turning around and immediately smashing their face into a pole, no one is going to feel sympathy for the bully, they will just all giggle quietly and then have a great laugh about it later, a story for the ages of the bully getting their comeuppance, walking into a pole and left to deal with their own bleeding nose.

Well I find myself taking an unusual position here!!
I must stand up for Meghan now , this is all deserved criticism but it does rather feel now with this third ? Article that Meghan is being hung out to dry all on her own !

Where's the criticism of Harry? , equally deserved, if not more so in my opinion!

Why is he not getting articles daily and snarky comments in the media?

As a husband and wife who move together like " salt and pepper " surely he should be part of this too!

Well, he has come in for huge criticism, when he's actually done something. Remember Spare? She was nowhere to be seen when he was facing the press and doing the PR for that. Now she has TV show and ARO/Whatever is 'her thing', or should I say 'her jam' 🙄 and he is equally invisible. They've made a deliberate decision to NOT move together like salt and pepper any more, and therefore when criticism comes, it's for the one whose project it is.

Also, Harry hasn't escaped criticism in the recent articles (particularly the biggie by VF), was pretty devastating. Saying he has no interests at all, apart from playing polo, that's he's made no friends in CA, despite living there now for five years, that he seems to hate having to lower himself to actually make money (grubby little business that royals shouldn't have to lower themselves to do), and that it's fairly obvious that he'd like to just swan around in the background, being Prince Harry and either handing out or receiving awards, while Meghan slogs away to earn the money to pay for their ridiculous lifestyle.

I'm always suspicious of the veracity of blind items. Assuming it's true though I think it casts the nachos in a terrible light. Fair weather friends who are only out for themselves and what they can get.

This is so true. Meghan hasn't an original idea in her head. Everything she does is imitative, performative and inauthentic. (If her supporters disagree - I'd be interested to hear of any exceptions to this tendency!)

She copies others shamelessly and yes, you're right - she thinks she can do it better. Again - anyone know of examples of Meghan doing it better than the original??

Is jelly like cheap jam- smooth?

And I think narcissists always run into the buffers eventually. They get a heady ride for a while and clamber up pretty high but as each day passes they piss off more and more people and more and more people see through them - especially when they can't deliver, despite the blather.

Meghan's reaching that point, I think. We've seen on MN that she's becoming increasingly difficult to defend. There are far fewer posters who admit to being enthusiastic supporters now - I've noticed a trend for even the more sympathetic people on here to give the disclaimer 'I'm not a supporter of Meghan'.

I don’t think it does, sadly. And she knows his weak spots, she praises him for being “so smart” when the outside world tells him he isn’t intelligent. What looks to the outsider like smothering and contrived flattery is intoxicating.to him.

Diana said that William was one to go forward and get involved while Harry hung back. I think he takes all his cues from her, her mood is his barometer. He must live on edge the whole time, trying to please her.

cheezncrackers · 21/02/2025 08:37

i think the Great British public would welcome him home as long as he lived behind a high hedge and became a recluse

I don't think anyone would WELCOME him home. What I think we all accept though is that he's British, he has a right to live in this country, and as the son/brother of the monarch he will never have to earn a penny for himself to live a very nice life indeed. The marriage won't last forever, I think we're all fairly certain of that. She will end it at some point and he'll come slinking back here. But he'd better live a bloody quiet life after all the mud he's slung at his family. Disloyal little shite.

Yes, it's a nasty, cheap product, packed with sugar and artificial flavors. See how I did that. Flavors, rather than flavours? Wink

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 21/02/2025 08:40

I would like to know when Gwyneth Paltrow started following asevernyc. They hadn't posted since Oct 2023- so makes me think she is a new follower.

I agree that jam is a weird choice for her 'signature product'.

It's a cheap, basic substance which anyone can make in their kitchen if so inclined. If not, they can buy it cheaply in any supermarket. It's basically boiled fruit with sugar. Lots of sugar. Not exactly the current California vibe. Maybe i she made some exotic organic jam with exclusive ingredients harvested at dawn from the grounds of Maison Montecito, but a basic strawberry jam? As others have said, not only is it very basic, it's very English.

Vespanest · 21/02/2025 08:52

Harry loves Meghan and he has to stay as he's invested everything into being with her. Had he still had family and friends who he could talk to then cracks may appear but as it stands a breakdown in the relationship would mean he was wrong and Harry is a person who can't be wrong and that is worse than seeing cracks or flaws in a relationship. Harry has to be in love with Meghan as if he lets that go he has nothing. I honestly believe they love each other whether a healthy love is debatable.

Ohpleeeease · 21/02/2025 08:58

I think people are following the other “As ever” brands as a show of support for them, I don’t necessarily see it as a slight against Meghan. It’s more an act of awareness that a small independent brand might need some help not to get buried. It’s an act of charity.

I can see how Meghan might have missed these other small brands, but it’s another thing for her to now use the tag #aseverofficial, which looks like aggressive marketing and - well - bullying.

Serenster · 21/02/2025 09:13

Her fans also aren’t helping, given the way they attack other brands. As Ever photography simply added a line saying “way before Meghan Markle” on her profile, and got harrassed by Meghan’s fans until she removed it and apologised.

Here’s a twitter post from one of the fans telling the story - even writing to justify her own actions she described it as “a heated exchange in private messaging” and “I called her out for her snarky behaviour” and “I apologised for jumping down her throat”. No wonder the business owner took the comment down!

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 21/02/2025 09:16

@Ohpleeeease I think it is a slight if they don't then follow Meghan.

Asevernyc is using in one of their posts As Ever Forever.

I don't understand how she could have missed the other brands when there is the internet.

It is arrogance, she either couldn't be bothered to look, or looked and didn't care. The photographer already said that she would have loved to have worked with her - had she approached her first this whole débâcle could be very different.

Much like the clothing brand- they didn't know about it until after M had put it on Instagram. Had she spoken to them before the whole optic would be different.

I can only assume she has no one advising her

I don’t think Nacho and his wife would do that either.

There was an interesting and informative article in Vanity Fair done years ago about the original, most well known LA ‘blind’ account. He fessed up and said he made pretty much all of it up. I’ve thought about it a bit lately because of more references to, and posting of, blind items on here. If I can find it again I’ll post a link to it. Actually it could have been in The Cut as I used to read both.
