Agree @BasiliskStare but it will also have to actually be good

Also shipping jam around the planet isn't exactly environmentally friendly.

I agree . I think the problem they have with Netflix now is that M has completely over estimated her talent for producing content if it's not gossip / trashing the BRF , and also I think if it's not stories about the RF she has also overestimated the heavy lifting their titles can do on their own. (to be fair I think Netflix but have overestimated these as well .) Harry had never had to earn a living in his life and I think just believed her hype.

I think it will be very bad news for them if Love Meghan is not a success and I also think as others have said she doesn't have the stature to be selling eg jam at ridiculously inflated prices & if it's just mass produced badged stuff then the amounts she will have to shift will be enormous . Bonne Maman sell millions of jars each year and really popular in France (and the US apparently. ) In my little local Tesco it is £3.80. It really will have to be good to charge a premium price or Meghan will have to be a whole lot more popular to be way more expensive than that (I would have thought) (Disclaimer - what I know about commercially producing jam is is the square root of F all 😂)

How will Netflix measure success? I suspect viewing figures for the first couple of episodes will be high, because people are curious, not because Meghan is popular. However, that's not the kind of success they presumably want - stellar viewing figures and high demand for a second series. I wonder about Netflix's quality control. 'Polo' is deathly dull. I know nothing about polo and watched a couple of episodes, hoping to learn, but all it shows is not particularly appealing people drivelling on about very little and being filthy rich. Meghan's show may have exactly the same qualities. Curiosity about a Netflix show isn't going to translate into a steady flow of sales. There's a big difference between devoting a few hours to a show on a paid-for streaming service and parting with good money for goods that are common and not exceptional. None of this looks very promising to me.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 17/02/2025 23:18

From a cursory Google, Netflix seems to care about hours watched and completion rate.

I can't see that this metric helps H&M. I would imagine the completion rate would be low due to the amount of people that were only watching for the first episode.

Netflix also looks at subscription data, how many have activated/deactivated in a set period. I can not see that the new series would drive subscriptions like the Squid Game did.

Where is everyone finding all of this “As Ever” stuff?

She wouldn't choose that image of herself would she?

BemusedAmerican · 17/02/2025 23:56

It's already the same of a NYC clothing line:

I think Harry is far worse than Meghan. She's an outsider. Yes, she should have informed herself, yes, it wouldn't have hurt to listen to advice or open a book, but Harry ought to have informed her properly. Either he never listened to anyone and was completely clueless, or he didn't want to tell her all the ins and outs.

He was probably scared to tell her too much in case she left him like Chelsy and Cressida did, not that anything would have put Meghan off!

Sorry, being a bit dense here. How do you know it’s legit, and if it’s legit why has it been taken down?

According to those who know how to figure out this stuff (I don't), it seems the website was developed by the same developers who did the website for Archewell and their Sussex website , some link to Mama Knows Best LLC and the lengthy trademark applications.

It could have been taken down due to being accidentally released before it was fully ready to launch, or accidentally on purpose to create chatter, or still the possibility its a very elaborate spoof.

elessar · 18/02/2025 05:31

It would make sense though with that obnoxious As Ever M sign off she's been putting on all of her insta posts. Just so contrived if that's the case.

NormaMajors1992coat · 18/02/2025 06:22

It's the latest in a very long series of terrible ideas. It really feels like we're approaching monkey tennis territory now.

The fact that people can't tell whether it's real or parody tells you everything you need to know 😬🫣

Serenster · 18/02/2025 07:28

It is clearly official, just with a slightly shambolic launch (true to brands so far). Meghan has issued a video announcing it, and the website with a photo of her and Lilibet.

Apparently it's legit as confirmed by Meghan herself x.com/rnn_royalnews/status/1891721407849017663?s=46&t=zeqvo7Iw1m8V4kXAX7nn1A

MrsLeonFarrell · 18/02/2025 07:37

There is a breathy post launching it on her Instagram feed.

Again I wish she would be herself and stop cos playing an early 20s manic pixie dream girl influencer.

ThePoshUns · 18/02/2025 07:39

It's on her instagram. She's really going for the down to earth , slightly goofy persona. Not genuine. Harry filming. Very twee.

I lost count of the edits - it's very 2016 IG vibe (just the style of delivery). Until someone posted it on here I wouldn't probably have noticed, but now I see it, it's obvious. I don't follow "influencers" but the few modern ones I see have a much more polished/professional style.

She's clearly just aiming for a US market, and fair enough, that's huge.

But when you are a climate champion and lecture others, it all becomes depressingly hypocritical.

Well she won't be able to sell Vintage clothes. Wonder what they think (possibly pleased as increased traffic and I'm sure they will outlive Meghan's attempt)

Weird however that Meghan signed off those pictures.

Or “If Ever”…

or “As If”…

I think she wants people to make a link from

'As ever'

to

'Always'

In other words it's supposed to evoke 'love Meghan'.

She signed her Valentine message, As ever, Meghan.

It's a lot of symbolism for tea towels and jam.

shockthemonkey · 18/02/2025 08:00

Apologies to Todger who I see beat me to “As If”

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 18/02/2025 08:01

That insta is hilarious.

Pretending that you don't know it is recording.

Also seem to have lost the point of direct communication with followers - She says she wants to 'share it first with you (her followers)' but I found out about it here first, I genuinely thought it was a spoof with that picture. But again no real plan or understanding of how to build loyalty.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 18/02/2025 08:04

It feels really MLM like, the several references to 'my business' claiming to be 'in business'.

The removed from reality, get rich quick scheme that all MLM huns fall for.

andyouwillknowusbythetrailofdead · 18/02/2025 08:06

Liam Gallagher used to sign of his tweets "as you were". He then (IIRC) launched a tour or an album with that name. She's in good company 😂
