I think Harry is safe. Trump won't want Melania's resident status looked into and he doesn't want to fall out with the Royal family.

Isn't Melania an American citizen?

I agree that Trump won't care about Harry and won't deport him, even if it's in his powers to do so.

In any case, relations between Canada and the United States are pretty tense right now, so it's not really wise for Harry to make any sort of reference to the American political scene. But then, when have 'wise' and 'Harry' ever been mentioned in the same sentence?

IcedPurple · 10/02/2025 14:26

jeffgoldblum · 10/02/2025 14:18

So Harry did not even present medals to the U.K. curling team!
He was sat with Meghan reading a book !

Has he learned nothing? His whole point of being there is as patron and mascot , presenting the medals is definitely his job!!

It's the lion king premier all over again.

He and his wife did find time to pose with the American team of course.

Note the use of titles and who gets top billing.

That photo is shocking.

I think they believe that he needs her, rather than the other way round. Gosh, maybe he does!

You're right. She is an American citizen. I think there's a concern about her parents, whose citizenship application she sponsored. As well as unwise, Harry is also not bright.

BemusedAmerican · 10/02/2025 14:31

The Team USA mascot dog and front and center. To me, it stole the photo. 😁

jeffgoldblum · 10/02/2025 14:39

That's even more shocking @IcedPurple !
He is aware this is going to be seen as a snub to the U.K. veterans doesn't he?

He's burning his bridges completely!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/02/2025 14:45

It’s also been noted that Meghan has been nowhere near the Nigerian team. You’d have thought she would be cheering them on with her strong links to the country…..

Why, @MummyJ12?
Like practically everyone else the Nigerians appear to be a mere prop for Meghan's manic self image, to be used and discarded as suits

I believe it was in another African nation where she ignored the lady with the account of HIV, and if she didn't care about that why would this be any different?

I don't want to automatically go along with Twitter outrage, but if it's his usual role to hand out medals and he preferred to be at a kids' event with his wife rather than award the medals to the British team, then yes, that would seem to be a snub.

His worldview is very adolescent so he's probably quite proud of it.

The next Invictus is in Birmingham too. Terrible, and terrible timing to prioritise US veterans.

Didn’t Meghan say something about Harry “curling” with the veterans in her razzmatazz intro to him at the start of the games?

jeffgoldblum · 10/02/2025 14:51

Indeed @IcedPurple , me neither but that's why I said it's going to appear a snub !

I'm sure Harry hasn't the brain power to see how his behaviour looks .

Just like blowing off the marines to take Meghan to a lion king premier to tout for a job for her !

It looks bad!

It was South Africa.

And of course I’m not surprised! My post was written with tongue in cheek…..

Yeah, can't remember exactly but there was some reference to curling in that entirely impromptu 'speech' which Meghan definitely hadn't rehearsed and prepared for.

Uricon2 · 10/02/2025 14:58

Yes, curling was mentioned apropros of Harry.

It wasn't qualified by "toe" in front of it, which as things are shaping up would have been accurate.

BasiliskStare · 10/02/2025 15:00

@jeffgoldblum - I think that was poor show from Harry (not presenting the Curling medals .) Yes that he should have done as patron. I can't believe Meghan couldn't have started the reading he could have nipped in to say Hello. a very quick tweak of the schedule couldn't have made it possible.

But over recent years it doesn't seem to me H gives a shiny shit about the UK - well apart from the titles and wanting RAVEC to give him VIP security. He's very quick to criticise / say his family aren't safe here etc.

I think to be fair to the Daily Mail - even after Meghan's introduction speech - were very restrained. What they are reporting now is I think based purely on what M&H are doing - as photographed / videos etc and from M's instagram.

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 10/02/2025 15:05

Do you think Harry feels ashamed about meeting UK veterans (given they way he's completely betrayed the former and present head of the armed forces, broke the "kill" code in Spare, and has generally made an arse of himself these last 5 years), and that's why he's avoiding them? Actual heroes versus the boy who sat in the bunker and bigged himself up to be something he isn't.

Edited for clarity/typo

jeffgoldblum · 10/02/2025 15:06

Indeed @BasiliskStare , he had one job!
Seeing they are obsessed with clap backs and pr neither seem able to see how thier actions are going to look to the public!

Getting a cosy photo with the American team when things are pretty tense between Canada and America right now = looks like he's sending a message of support to America .

Snubbing the U.K. medals for a book reading by Meghan = looks like a petty snub .

No. He doesn’t think that hard

jeffgoldblum · 10/02/2025 15:08

And as invictus was launched and started in the U.K. , only given to Harry as a prince of the U.K. , it looks particularly bad.

FromTheOfficeOfJammyTodger · 10/02/2025 15:17

2027 is going to be interesting. Birmingham is in a right mess financially. There's loads of white elephant accommodation that was created for the Commonwealth Games, and was supposed to be converted into residences, but hasn't been. Not sure the people of that city are going to gain much from Invictus. I think it's too small to make much of an impact on the local economy. I believe the finance for those games is supposed to be coming from central government, which seems like a huge indulgence when they are making cuts everywhere, including the possibility of cuts to benefits for the disabled. Whilst Invictus is a nice idea, the competitors have to self fund, so whatever government money is poured into it is not going directly to the competitors.

And then there's all the bad blood between H&M and the RF and the distrust the former have engendered in the British public, plus the inevitable demands and whinging about security. Not that I can see MM coming over to the UK - the only blessing! Unless they are planning to return to the UK with kids in tow in a blaze of glory, and then complain that the RF don't want to see them or come to support them at Invictus.

That's awful! They really are the pits.

I don't think M should be there at all, but if she has to be, surely it would have been sensible for her to do the children's book reading and for Harry to do the honours presenting to the winning teams?

But that would mean they'd have to be apart for a while, so...

William and Kate were slammed for being driven in a vehicle past lines of military personnel looking colonial in ?Jamaica not long ago. This is very unwise of H&M. It looks absurd - injured veterans on their feet, H&M sitting down.

Why on earth aren't they walking past, talking and interacting with them?

IdaGlossop · 10/02/2025 15:26

BunnyLake · 10/02/2025 15:23

Why on earth aren't they walking past, talking and interacting with them?

Because they have no feel for how to conduct themselves in public and they ignore their advisers. I don't understand why it's so hard for some people to understand how to behave properly. Lady Meghan/Lady Muck.
