With this new authentic Insta post where Meghan positions herself as a go between in securing some signed merchandise I think there's still plenty to discuss.
This is a new image. No make up. Carefully edited insta. New lips. Is this influencer territory? Mention of " my husband and l " Echoes of the Queen ?

To get back on topic, Meghan still has fewer than 2 million followers on Instagram.

Isn't that very low for someone with her name recognition?

And I disagree with a PP that showing the kids, or random limbs thereof, is going to cause a spike in interest. Their 'Sussex Royal' Instagram broke records when it was launched. Such a clear demonstration of how it was the royal 'magic' not the Sussexes themselves, which was the attraction.

I think there's a way of telling that many of that count are bots in any event. Something about having no followers/not following anyone else.

jeffgoldblum · 15/02/2025 14:13

Slight confession here but I'm not really interested in pictures of other peoples kids ! 🤷‍♀️ , just my own, I also don't have instagram but I don't post their pictures online as I personally don't agree with it , but each to their own!

NotaRealHousewife · 15/02/2025 14:14

@Spectre8 You see I think the photos could potentially put the children more at risk. Posting like she has has raised awareness about the kids again, made people more curious and perhaps for paps more desperate for that one shot of them

Her timing is also questionable, popularity has taken a dive, more criticism and she has a new show coming out . Not a good look to drag them out at this point

Oh me too! I just have to fake interest at times!

TheMeasure · 15/02/2025 14:15

2 million followers. Taylor Swift, according to google, has 282 million.

jeffgoldblum · 15/02/2025 14:18

Me too ! @MissFenellaPrism 🤣 , even with the royal children too!

TheMeasure · 15/02/2025 14:19

Personally, I think Harry's regular references to Princess Diana has less to do with his trauma at losing his mother at a young age and more to do with riding on the coat-tails of her fame and popularity.

And nearly all of the Queen's grand-daughters and other great-grandaughters have Elizabeth as part of their names. Trust Harry and Meghan to try to go one step over-the-line further by using Lilibet.

Why so black or white. Every parents gets to decide what images and videos of their children they will post on social media until the children can decide for themselves.

They can post what they like, of course. But people tend not to like the hypocrisy of talking about online safety and protecting their chilldren's privacy one minute, only to wheel them out the next, when Mommy needs to rehab her brand and increase her insta followers.

Spot on Norma!

To his son across the breakfast table, maybe. Depends on what was said. Hopefully Archie hears about things other than landmines, granny Diana, Invictus and "guys" being "blown up".

Growing up the news would often be switched off because it would ‘fleg the bairns’ yet here’s this wee boy taking it all in his stride along with his weetabix.

The discussion about monetising A&L is interesting....what is the commercial strategy here - where will the revenue stream come from?

Do they believe that the slow reveal of A & L on IG will trigger an avalanche of additional sales of jam and honey from the temporary promotional stands at the malls in Dallas and Pennsylvania?

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 15/02/2025 14:27

Princess Eugenie has 1.8m followers
The Prince and Princess of Wales has 16.8m followers

They'll bring more traffic.

And the all it needs is things like, putting them in a particular item if clothing. Sponsorship/ brand affiliate type thing.

Didn't MM register domain names under "Lilibet's Closet" and other "Lilibet" related names? Maybe she'll start peddling ARO related goods using the name. Baking kits for kids, for example.

veraswaistcoat · 15/02/2025 14:41

They seem to have forgotten about Aug 2024 when they met with parents about the negative effects of social media and talk of a parent being the " first responder". Big publicity then. Now? Meghan sneaking them out there. Look at the abuse that William's children have had - even on here a tame site - compared to the nutter sites. The same will happen to theirs - their looks, the colour of their hair, their noses, their height and eyes and skin will all be dissected. Yes it shouldn't happen but Harry loves to talk about them and who they look like. They could on the other hand keep them private.

I don't think that will be particularly popular with the public at large!
Most will see it as merchandising and grifting off the back of the late queen!

If it works out as well as the ARO trademark, it'll be "Lilibet's Trousseau " by the time anything goes on sale!

I cynically wonder if the choice of Lilibet was in part because it is unusual and would have more profile/TM opps than plain Elizabeth, plus of course the association with the late Queen, which can be tearfully yet proudly explained again and again (and again) during a marketing drive. In case anyone forgets.

Thedom · 15/02/2025 14:43

She has 1.8m followers, so she has gained 100K followers since she started posting to her stories. It is a real slow burn of interest considering the coverage her insta is getting.

Mylovelygreendress · 15/02/2025 14:45

Fewer than 600k followers on ARO .

That's a bit grim.....so they become a sort of walking, talking Freemans Catalogue family.

How tedious. Will it generate enough $$$$ to support their current lifestyle? Are there well known rates for the number of followers? And what about the quality of followers - surely they have to be of the calibre able to afford the no doubt luxury items she is promoting?

It’s now been confirmed by People magazine that “the ring was an anniversary gift from Prince Harry last year, crafted by a private jeweler”. It has their shared monogram - an H and M underneath a coronet. The same as appears on their doormat.

Why the fuck doesn’t DH get me a ring matching my doormat? Our relationship is so lame. No face grabbing, no photographer (uncredited, poor chap / woman) to capture our private sepia snogging.

They were never going to keep the children private long term. They included a photo of Archie in the bath in one of their early programmes. That's not privacy that selective exploitation.

I understand why the Wales children need some public exposure, to help them learn how to cope with it because at least some of them will have a life of public service. There is no need for the Sussex children to be public at all. They are currently fairly low down in the in line of succession and are only going to move lower. Their parents don't serve the country so no reason to think they will. Give the poor kids privacy.

I agree completely, @TheMeasure, especially bearing in mind how popular Diana was in the US ... as in "don't forget who's son I am!!"
