Starting a thread for Tuesday.
This BBC article covers the basics. This is the last line ….
Tuesday really is the beginning of the end. And someone is going to lose - and lose big.

I have a feeling, that Harry won’t win but he just wants to use the public setting to air his grievances. A therapy session would have worked out much cheaper.

Prince Harry leaves the court during his hacking case against the Daily Mirror. He wears a dark coloured suit, white shirt and tie. His barrister David Sherborne, also dressed in a dark suit is on his left. A crowd of photographers are behind a metal...

Prince Harry versus newspapers: This is the one that matters

Prince Harry’s legal battle against British tabloids for allegedly unlawfully intruding into his life reaches its most important moment on Tuesday.

I expect Harey is too entitled to be told what to do until 9am. His time.

Ineedashero · 21/01/2025 15:02

struggling to catch up, could someone kindly summarise wtf is going on today?

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 21/01/2025 15:03

If you watch the BBC live coverage, you can hear the journalists waiting. I've heard, "waste of time" and "shall we go to wetherspoons".

Well it looks like it was all about the money after all. Maybe now they are struggling with their income stream Harry is managing to abandon his principles and be paid off 🤨

MissRoseDurward · 21/01/2025 14:59

As this is his Big Day , I would have expected him to be up and alert time difference or no time difference .

I'd expect him to be there on the spot. Why isn't he?

I hope the Court of Appeal slaps them down. They've had ample time to have these discussions without needing to waste the court's time. It's not as if they can get that time back if the appeal is refused.

Maybe he is concerned he won’t be allowed back into the US ?

Vespanest · 21/01/2025 15:07

Surely this places Harry and Tom in a weaker position if the trial does go ahead. Messing the judge around who once the trial is done and reads that settlements were not just offered but that the parties believed that they were acceptable so much so that they wasted his time but still didn't take them.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/01/2025 15:16

So another complete farce? Why am I not surprised ... Confused

Geneva12 · 21/01/2025 15:17

I wonder what Harry’s fans will say if he does settle since one of their criticisms of William is the fact that he settled his phone hacking case out of court.

EdithWeston · 21/01/2025 15:24

If the Appeal overturns the the Judge’s ruling disallowing the further delay, what happens next?

Do they go back in to Court tomorrow and either report a settlement, or request further delay (depending on what is happening in the background) or the case actually starts?

If only one of the Claimants accepts a settlement, does the case go ahead for the remaining one?

If the Appeal upholds the Judge’s ruling, then does that mean the case must start for both of them?
And does the Judge have any recourse against any of the parties for dicking round like this?

TemuRoyal · 21/01/2025 15:24

Can Harry actually do anything right?

TERFspice · 21/01/2025 15:25

This is another example of Harry not understanding how the real world works.

I had a friend end up in court over something fairly trivial. It was more the other sides fault than his, TBF. However, the judge tore both of them a new one for wasting the court's time. The judge lectured them on the fact that court is there primarily for child abuse, human rights violations, and so on. It isn't a place to air petty grievances.

Atlasvue · 21/01/2025 15:26

BBC:

‘It's felt like both a long and short day here in the Rolls Building,
Long, because there's been a lot of waiting around. And short because there's been less than an hour of actual court proceedings.
Journalists around me are saying they have never seen anything like this before.
We had three delays, and then an early finish after the lawyers requested another delay - which was denied - but then they left to appeal this decision, effectively bringing the hearing to a close.
The judge was not happy with this, as he wanted to push on. I think we all did.
So, as things stand, the first day of the Prince Harry and Lord Watson case against News Group Newspapers is yet to kick off.
We aren't sure of the reasons for all the back and forth, but both teams of lawyers argued together for this further delay.
“We are very close, there is an issue with time and gaining instructions," the NGN lawyer said.
There are whisperings here as people wonder if a settlement could be reached, which is how many of the cases against the publisher have ended.
But Prince Harry so far has been adamant about taking the case to trial.
For now, it's not been the day we expected, but it's been an interesting watch nonetheless.’

As well as the financial considerations, which is looking quite shaky on a personal front for them, I think Harry isn't in much of a position anymore to be put on the stand and have his 'truth and perceptions' pulled apart.

They won't say anything, inconsistencies like this won't phase them.

Ineedashero · 19/01/2025 13:13

I hope he loses and loses 'bigly', and crawls away with his tail between his legs. he just refuses to take any accountability for his own actions and behaviours.

What an ugly way of thinking.

Considering the damage the British media has done to so many, let alone Prince Harry's experiences.

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 21/01/2025 15:37

And the live stream finished with a close up of a man looking for a pub.

If H settles, I wonder if he will give his settlement to Invictus.

Onlyonekenobe · 21/01/2025 15:39

I wonder if the judge is authorized to financially penalize both parties for wasting the court's time and money. They were warned some time ago about having done exactly that, but they've gone ahead and done it again (and this time because Harry was still in bed fgs).

EdithWeston · 21/01/2025 15:40

What an ugly way of thinking.

Considering the damage the British media has done to so many, let alone Prince Harry's experiences.

The damaging behaviours were dealt with in the Levenson enquiry. This case isn’t re-doing that.

Its settling level of damages, and all claimants bar these two have settled out of Court.

This case is to establish the level of settlement. If the Court awards the same or less than the already offered settlement, then the claimants become liable for NGNs costs as well as their own. But they’re quids in if it’s more.

So in effect the ‘justice’ part was sorted out years ago. This is about the level of compo

Vespanest · 21/01/2025 15:40

I'm wondering if the last week has been a financial awakening, they are rich but I'm not sure they are generational rich which is what Harry would want for his children. To be facing a multi million pounds trial with a judge who has been critical for both sides. Realistically they are on a knife edge if they have more income opportunities or if they need to live on what they have made. Meghan must be down at the moment

You could easily be right, Thedom
Given the relentless negativity now swirling around the pair and that it appears Harry has no sensible backing at all, it's hard not to wonder how he'd cope with rigorous questioning from the Sun's team

No point in speculating about how Justice Fancourt must be feeling though; I doubt Harry will care, and if the judge fails to deliver everything he wants he'll be just another "nobody" who "doesn't understand"

God, what a way to live your life ...

Atlasvue · 21/01/2025 15:47

Has entered into settlement negotiations.

What a worm. Not for settling, but for declaring he was prepared to fight in court because it’s the right thing to do and he was doing so on the behalf of others too. In reality he was leveraging for more sweaty cash
