Starting a thread for Tuesday.
This BBC article covers the basics. This is the last line ….
Tuesday really is the beginning of the end. And someone is going to lose - and lose big.

I have a feeling, that Harry won’t win but he just wants to use the public setting to air his grievances. A therapy session would have worked out much cheaper.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c2l00xkgwnyo

Prince Harry leaves the court during his hacking case against the Daily Mirror. He wears a dark coloured suit, white shirt and tie. His barrister David Sherborne, also dressed in a dark suit is on his left. A crowd of photographers are behind a metal...

Prince Harry versus newspapers: This is the one that matters

Prince Harry’s legal battle against British tabloids for allegedly unlawfully intruding into his life reaches its most important moment on Tuesday.

The judge is already sounding pretty pissed off, not the best way for either side to start. Rightly he is dismissing the time differenc argument

Atlasvue · 21/01/2025 14:28

I wonder if meghan has told him to settle because of what’s happened in the last two weeks …or this was his tactic all along to get more money

If Harry backs down now then all of his words about the press being held accountable crumbles into dust and shows it really is all about the money!
Let's not forget though that he's potentially going to have a huge HUGE bill to pay ... sounds like the judge is pissed if too - not good for Hazza! .... well time for a quick tea make for the next instalment

LaMarschallin · 21/01/2025 14:32

Ah, Harry the "dragon slayer".
Doing it because he's "the last person that can actually achieve that.”
The others "settled because they’ve had to settle,” apparently.
But, never fear! Harry and his limitless funds will ride in and spear that naughty dragon with his lance!
Er...
Won't he?

Eta I'm sorry if anyone has come over all queasy at the thought of Harry's lance.

EdithWeston · 21/01/2025 14:33

I’m baffled !

The judge sounds incredibly pissed off

And I can’t begin to see how a further 10mins will produce anything worthwhile

Edited

If they can get him out of bed to answer the phone.

Vespanest · 21/01/2025 14:35

I can imagine even if a figure is agreed upon there will be even bigger discussions on the terms as Harry is going to want to freedom to disclose certain elements.

It’s 06:35 in California

Atlasvue · 21/01/2025 14:39

BBC :

The lawyers are refused permission to appeal by the judge.
Mr Justice Fancourt won't let them appeal his decision to delay the proceedings.
But now, the lawyers can go to the Court of Appeal against this.
The court has risen and exited, and it's likely this is the last of the action in the Rolls building courtroom until tomorrow

OP posts:
Alarmclockstop · 21/01/2025 14:39

How long have they had to have these discussions, months? Years?

Sorry lost? They are not allowed to delay, but have delayed by going to appeal?

Atlasvue · 21/01/2025 14:41

Omg- they are going to appeal the judge not allowing them to delay?

OP posts:
Atlasvue · 21/01/2025 14:42

I think they are appealing the judge not allowing them to appeal his decision of no further delay

So will have to go to the court of appeal

It would seem that they want the judge to delay because they are close to an agreement. If the trial begins then it will incur costs. But surely there will be costs incurred in going to appeal. WTF?😳

Atlasvue · 21/01/2025 14:44

So they are delaying the trial because they don’t want to pay up? What the?

bbc -
‘Sherborne says he thinks such an adjournment would be a "sensible and appropriate course and the time is likely to be highly productive".
Hudson says that NGN joins the application for leave to appeal. He says that a very substantial sum becomes payable if the trial starts.’

Vespanest · 21/01/2025 14:44

If I was in charge I'd give all side a big hefty fine, how disrespectful of courts time. It's says something when opposing sides join together to ride roughshod over the judge.

LaMarschallin · 21/01/2025 14:45

Is this all because Harry couldn't get up first thing in the morning?
His dragon slayer's armour is looking very rusty.

Mylovelygreendress · 21/01/2025 14:49

EdithWeston · 21/01/2025 14:35

As this is his Big Day , I would have expected him to be up and alert time difference or no time difference .

Atlasvue · 21/01/2025 14:49

Harry should not be thousands of miles away if he wants to be able to give minute by minute instructions for negotiations.

Why didn’t he turn up?

OP posts:
Alarmclockstop · 21/01/2025 14:52

Costs have been incurred today, they should both be fined

Atlasvue · 21/01/2025 14:54

So they delayed in a underhand way:

BBC
‘In a long-winded way, the lawyers today got what they wanted. The judge denied their request to delay the court, but because they have appealed it, this isn't a "delay" technically, but they won't be sitting until Wednesday morning.’

So looks like they are looking to settle. Hypocrite

Well if that is the case then another dreadful blow to the Harkles this January! Montecito will be on fire soon the amount of pants smouldering in their closets

MrsLeonFarrell · 21/01/2025 14:58

With all the pressures on the court system this does seem a ridiculous waste of valuable court time.

Snorlaxo · 21/01/2025 14:58

Mylovelygreendress · 21/01/2025 14:49

As this is his Big Day , I would have expected him to be up and alert time difference or no time difference .

Especially when we know that his wife was awake at 5am sending emails back in the day.

MissRoseDurward · 21/01/2025 14:59

I'd expect him to be there on the spot. Why isn't he?

I hope the Court of Appeal slaps them down. They've had ample time to have these discussions without needing to waste the court's time. It's not as if they can get that time back if the appeal is refused.
