Just seen on Sky News. Breaking News headlines. Delayed because of the wild fires didn't say if this was technical difficulties or it would be a bit crass to launch a frothy type lifestyle show with all the devastation. Anyway it might be shelved for good with any luck.

@wordler Do not be so facile. I am not a Meghan fan.

MerryMaker · 16/01/2025 17:19

Fine/ You do not understand the California law in spite of me posting a link to it. Carry on.

Excuse me? Are you sure that was meant for me?

This is the bill

And any 4 year old and toddler is going to be upset about a photographer chasing them or crowding round trying to take photos of them and their parents.
Have you seen how paps take photos? Its not a case of asking someone to pose with their children and taking a nice photo.

The reality is it is running after kids and their parents whilst taking photos. Trying to crowd in to take a photo while a parent gets a child out of a car.

Photographers don’t crowd round toddlers.
They don’t need to. All you need is an iPhone. Or if you’re a professional photographer, a long lens.

This is why stating you cannot take pictures of celebrities kids without permission is untrue.

The limited photos we do have of them in public was at the 4th of July parades. Terrible shots probably taken on a phone. There was nothing illegal in the act. The children were in public and the person was allowed to take pictures. The children were not harassed.

The reason why there’s no pictures of her kids in public, is that Harry and Meghan go to great lengths to make sure they aren’t in public. They don’t take them to polo matches etc. Rebel Wilson told the story of meeting Harry and Meghan at a polo match and the kids not being there. That’s fine- that’s a parenting decision. It’s not because Californian law prevents their child’s photograph being taken in public.

So back to my point- Meghan wanted to be photographed at the scenes of the LA fires helping out. If she didn’t want to be photographed, then we would have no photos. She’s proved that she can keep her kids out the press. It also proves she deliberately puts herself in front of the press for good PR

MerryMaker · 16/01/2025 17:27

You can not take a professional photo with an iphone.
Pf course you have to crowd round them. Otherwise you just get a photo of the back of a toddler being carried, or a toddler hidden in a pram. The only decent pap photos of celebrities kids taken with long lenses are when a celebrity uses a forward facing sling. Otherwise the photos are worth less.
I have seen pap photos of Harry and Meghans kids, they show nothing much.

Why would you take toddlers to a polo match?

But we - or I at least wasn’t talking about professional photos I was talking about any photos of them as a family Or either parent doing regular family activities with their kids. Or it even being talked about.

And re polo - it’s a very social family friendly activity.

MerryMaker · 16/01/2025 17:36

@wordler why would their friends and acquaintances share photos of Archie and Lillibet online?
I am not a celebrity and I do not share photos of friends kids online. It is a major no no.
I will have to take your word for it that polo is family friendly. Although sounds bloody miserable to me with two tiny children.

Serenster · 16/01/2025 17:37

You can not take a professional photo with an iphone.

And yet…here’s a tiny selection of photos of the Wales children, snapped on iPhones, sold to picture agencies and published internationally.

There are loads and loads of shots like this that are published. Just not in the UK.

@MerryMaker

It’s normal to make a fun family day of it - Nacho’s kids were there. It’s why Rebel Wilson asked about the Sussex kids.

What on earth are you talking about?
You know Steven Spielberg shot a music video on an iPhone? Is that not a professional video?

There are no photos of them, regardless if it was phone or camera that took the picture, because they don’t take the kids out in public. It’s NOT because California law prevents people taking pictures of celebs kids in public.

They literally made a tv show about POLO and how it was a family orientated sport. So yes, lots of people bring their kids. It’s weird that they don’t.

They don’t want photos taken of their kids in the press, so they don’t take them out in public. They very much however, want photos taken of Meghan performing saintly acts in public.

@wordler Okay, lots of people take babies and toddlers to polo matches. Harry and Meghan did not take their children.
Does that make them evil?

They don't seem to take their children anywhere much, on the face of it?

Archie is nearly 6. He was born 6 th May 2019. He’s not a toddler

MerryMaker · 16/01/2025 17:55

@smilesy He is 5. In five months time he is 6.
Lilibet is 3 years old.

And we're these pictures published by the British media? I don't recall ever seeing those. Also the UK does not have the same law that California has about taking pics of celebrities children.

No it means they don’t want their kids photos taken.

That’s the reason why there’s no photos, not because of what you stated- that you can’t take celebrities kids pictures in California

And when they do take there children out in public spaces you won't see pictures because of that law.

It's northern here or there whether they take them out on public. Either way you won't see pictures.

And who cares if they don't take their children to a polo match we have no idea why they didn't. Maybe one wasn't well, maybe they wanted to spend time with their grandmother. There would a whole list of okay reasons why they didn't

Edited

The Californian law is of such a high bar, it only prevents pictures taken in extreme circumstances, that are unlikely to arise.

You can take pictures of celebs kids in California.

The reason why we don’t see pics of their kids is because they don’t take them out in public. The reason why we do see pics of meghan in public, is because she wants her photo taken doing charity work.

That’s what the last couple of days have been about. Getting good PR and getting her face in the press.

NotaRealHousewife · 16/01/2025 18:05

When thinking about the children it's a real shame that the cousins are missing out on relationships with each other because of the behaviour of adults

My goodness, read the law. It’s a very high bar. Unlikely to be met.

What are you talking about?

It clearly states, that there is the threshold of harassment and it constitutes what it’s likely to meet that bar of harassment. It’s very difficult to meet that bar.

That’s why you see pics of celebs kids all the time.

This is embarrassing
