Meghan has updated her Instagram to announce that her rescue dog, Guy the Beagle, has passed away.

It looks like he features quite a bit in her cooking/lifestyle show.

Poor Meghan!

Three things - 1) was it a really big announcement of his death? She put a single post on her instagram account. They have other social media accounts and do our our press releases, but this dog death post was one post on one of their channels. The press have made a big thing of it, but realistically has Meghan? (I shared more when our guinea pig died).

  1. that it was announced months after the death - literally one MNer posted that. They didn’t back it up with any explanation where they got that idea from, no other social media channels are suggesting the dog died a long time ago and she’s only just announcing it. It could be the case. It equally could be the case the dog died on New Year’s Day. We only know the dog was alive and well enough to be pottering around them when filming the show.

  2. most years, Catherine’s birthday lands first working week after the Christmas and new year break. This is when many companies /charities restart after the break and announcements get made. If Catherine traditionally held a big charity event over her birthday, you might have point they are trying to take away attention she’d otherwise get, but she’s always “celebrating quietly at home” with a photo released. There’s not much to upstage.

As dramatic as ever. Why not post about the dog and his personality rather than just herself and what she's done 🙄

You're not "fathoming" very much are you?

Whether you like her or not, she's quite fascinating in the way she behaves, and Harry obviously who was hitherto a much-admired member of the royal family. I don't think many commentators have the energy to "hate" her which requires a fair bit of effort.

I don't think it takes too much imagination to work out why people are interested in them and have an opinion? Members of the RF aren't prone to dramatically quitting. Plus they do so much to draw attention to themselves.

If you can't fathom people's reactions to her - and it is really not hate for most of us bystanders! - then why feel the need to read a thread about her and comment on it? Seems ridiculous, even...

I'd add - accusations of hate, and a counter-explanation like yours, appears at least twice on each thread about H & M.

@ToLiveForTheHopeOfItAll will have already read a few of these, so isn't attempting, or open to, any fathoming.

Accusing people of hate and being ridiculous is the point of their sugary post.

Has anyone suggested that Catherine did her visit to the Royal Marsden to detract from Megans's Netflix launch?(Obviously planned before the show was delayed.)

Because that would be equally as unlikely and just as insane as suggesting Meghan put out her dead dog thing to detract from Catherine's birthday.

Can people stop posting insane things?

I agree. It would be ludicrous to suggest Kate was doing something like this.

I reckon if Meghan herself got a cancer diagnosis, she’d be accused of trying to out-do Kate.

Of course they have suggested this. Need you even ask? 😀

And Meghan would immediately out-do Kate in the eyes of a certain section of her fan pool if she did get a cancer diagnosis because they firmly believe Kate is lying about her cancer. It’s all fake, and she was never sick. And the Royal Marsden is going along with the charade because they think it will bring them donations.

Takes all sorts…

It’s all insane, both ‘sides’.

The thing to remember is that it’s a small minority of people with an agenda on one side or the other.

This board attracts them and gives a skewed view of the wider public’s opinion. People may like or dislike Meghan or Kate, but its not on the scale of people on this board or X. These places don’t reflect reality. I think most people don’t really care, the Royals don’t take up much space in most people’s days, but there is small and very vocal minority on each side who make a lot of noise.

It's not actually technically possible anyway.

Meghan will not have access to Catherine's diary. Catherine will not have access to Meghan's diary.

Meghan knows when Catherine's birthday is...

I'm not saying she did put the dog post up but it's possible.

I think most posters here are merely chewing the fat tbh.

Some posters maybe, but I see a lot of the same names or posting styles being extremely negative (understatement) and doing it persistently. It’s mostly Meghan ‘haters’ but sometimes the Kate ‘haters’ appear and say things as a strange way of defending Meghan. It’s awful, but fascinating. Some of it is completely nuts.

nationalsausagefund · 16/01/2025 20:28

Put your tinfoil hats on and get comfortable! January, new year – a great time for rebrands, launches, etc, so Meghan is always going to have something to launch around this time. Which is why Wills married Kate of all potentials in the first place: futureproofing against this very eventuality! The Cambridges own January!

I think it's the "fascination" element that draws people in!

There are 11 other months in the year, and there is only one 8th January.

Not that I'm sure Kate gives a shiny shit what Meghan does.

Not really, because a Royal Engagement like this would have been at least 6-8 weeks in the planning, and Meghan's NF show was only announced 14 days ago.

Sometimes things clash. It was Catherine's birthday and she's just announced she's in remission so I'd assume her visit was coordinated to schedule with that announcement. That and the fact she's now joint patron of the Royal Marsden. Royal diaries are planned months ahead.
