I bet William hopes Andrew is dead and gone before he takes over.

CathyorClaire · 31/01/2025 21:05

Willy's also driven him more recently.

But anyway.

Do you think the heir couldn't have requested a separate vehicle from the endless pool of luxury motors available?

Rogerisourlodger · 31/01/2025 21:17

Serenster · 31/01/2025 20:46

They not only allow it, they enable and encourage it.
Willy has him riding shotgun, Anne and Eddie cavort with him at (disgraceful but another thread) shoots, he's atttended a pap heavy pre-coronation dinner, was still parading in his velvet curtains relatively recently and has been allowed up on his hind legs yapping for the cameras at Philip's funeral and then centre stage at the subsequent memorial.
Same two fingers to the plebs Mumy was waving when she publicly supported him

So what you’re basically saying is that he should be under permanent house arrest and spend no time with any of his his family, or be allowed to do anything enjoyable?

Don’t you think that sounds a little, erm, or a lot, human rights breaching?

Noone is suggesting that. However other celebrities (that's all the RF are) generally disappear and/or apologise when they're caught out behaving terribly. The RF know they're untouchable sadly, and Andrew in particular is too arrogant to think he's done anything wrong. Odious fool that he is.

StSwithinsDay · 31/01/2025 21:20

That interview is the gift that keeps on giving.

Serenster · 31/01/2025 21:22

Goodness. I suppose if he does have to go out in public for anything, he should wear a burkha? And his family must all avoid ever being seen in his company? Even at funerals and memorial services. Coventry for ever.

Honestly. I have no time for Prince Andrew at all. But he is a human being. The way you are suggesting he should be treated is ludicrous. Even convicted criminals are released from prison to attend family funerals, and are seen with their families doing so.

Do they? Don King? Chris Brown? Jon Hamm? Ted Kennedy? Roman Polanski? Woody Allen? Charlie Sheen?

Oh come on, some of those are decades ago.... And not exactly representative of British celeb culture.

You know as well as I do that celebs are always apologising on social media 'i will educate myself" 'I will do better' etc ad infinitum. The RF is held up as something us plebs should look up to, revere, literally bow down to. Why you're defending the seediest of then all I've no idea.

I think that poster is a die-hard RF fan.

Serenster · 31/01/2025 21:52

I’m not actually defending Andrew. But I think the dehumanising of him is ridiculous.

He an entitled boorish idiot who could well have had sex with a trafficked girl, was definitely close to a sex offender and probably a Chinese spy as well. He may well have been siphoning money off a charity. He is clearly not a good example of anything. If anyone can prove a criminal charge against him, have at it.

But none of that means he loses his human rights, no matter how much you might wish it. He’s a convenient stick to beat his family with, I get it. And yes, I fully imagine they’d hope this all just goes away too!

I believe in human rights and due process. For everyone. Not just Andrew. I’d believe in them for you as well if by some mischance you got tangled up in something. I believe in them for people who have committed crimes too, because everyone should have a fair process leading to a supportable conviction.

We clearly differ on that. 🤷‍♀️

No one is suggesting water boarding him Serenster steady on!

It would be welcome though if he withdraw completely from public life and given that the RF have enormous estates and houses all over the UK, it wouldn’t exactly be difficult or that onerous tbh! There must be a hundred or so decent estate cottages where he could go and retire in beautiful surroundings.

Edited: living in beautiful surroundings that many of us ordinary mortals would envy!

Okay. Phillip Schofield is trying to make a comeback currently and has been on a reality tv show in the last couple of months. Jay Blades is till on tv on repair Shop currently. Plenty of footballers have kept playing, had managerial careers and been pundits after convictions for serious offences.

I thought he had done so though? But even someone doing presumably is allowed to leave the house now and again…which is what he’s being criticised for here.

I thought you were a supporter of the RF Serenster?! You can’t be suggesting that he is rehabilitated?

Imo there is no coming back for Andrew now because every time he appears in public , his presence will overshadow the purpose of the event.

And sorry, but if you are a member of the RF and manage to stuff up the life of extreme privilege that comes with it, then I don’t think you should benefit from it any more either.

King Charles had better provide for him in a modest way though because he is obviously a liability if he has to get his begging bowl out again.

Should he live in Windsor though? Surely they have a little cottage spare up in Aberdeenshire somewhere?

Serenster · 31/01/2025 22:22

Not at all. I too think he should play no further part in public life.

I was just pointing out that a poster who said no other celebrity would look to appear in public following the kind of scandal he had brought on himself was taking a position that’s really not supportable. Both here and in the US, over many many years, celebrities commit, and even get convicted for, serious crimes and continue to have public careers. People are remarkably forgiving of many, many unpleasant people. And many many unpleasant people arrogantly believe they have nothing nothing wrong.

Serenster · 31/01/2025 22:28

And many many unpleasant people arrogantly believe they have nothing nothing wrong”.

(Andrew is clearly one of these types too, by the way. But he is beholden to his family for money so they can exercise some control I guess. And if they don’t fund him, I can’t imagine what his next moneymaking trick would be - penniless Andrew is probably more of a liability than funded Andrew…)

Given that they were going to the bedside of a dying, dearly loved relative, maybe they wanted to be together?!

There’s an upcoming book by Andrew Lownie to be published later this year about Sarah and Andrew

(note: ”He” is Andrew Lownie)

“He said, "My biography is a joint biography of him (Prince Andrew) and Sarah Ferguson and I think our perceptions of Ferguson may change after the book is published."
^^
The royal expert said, "I would put her up there as a joint villain."
^^
The host of the program, Matt Wilkinson started praising the Duchess as she is raising awareness about cancer despite battling the disease herself. He also pointed out that she maintained a positive public image through her work.
^^
However, Andrew questioned the authenticity of her public persona. He stated, "That's the impression that she gives, but I think what she presents in public and in reality is very different."
^^
It is important to note that these comments came amid the ongoing drama caused by Sarah's ex-husband Prince Andrew's spy scandal.”

Whether Sarah is as bad as Andrew? So many of these authors seem to come for the women that marry into the family so I’m always wary when they place those women front and centre, in a bad light. ‘Joint Villian’ is a pretty serious accusation given what we already know of Andrew’s actions.

Andrew and Sarah Andrew and Sarah

I agree. It is my impression that in the past things were less likely to be uncovered. But when they were, it was most often career ending. These days the ‘accused’ totter off quietly somewhere for a time, come back and say sorry, and career and public life resumes for them. Very few find re-entry into public life barred to them.

Edited to add: Andrew has tried re-entry a few times now but the public aren’t having it.

’in the past’ ‘these days’ - god I’m old. Ha.

Serenster · 31/01/2025 22:48

Sarah is a cautionary tale of the dangers of someone royal adjacent and cash-strapped.

Extiainoiapeial · 31/01/2025 23:35

I am sick to death of hearing news reports of Charles trying to oust Andrew and his ex wife from Royal Lodge. Of course he can get him out, he's the King FFS!
He just doesn't
He just lets the public think he is doing something when he's doing fuck all

As for keeping up his relationship with Epstein but blatantly lying to the whole world that he'd cut contact...yeah knew that. He's an out and out liar

His whole family enable this moron. Queen did, they all do. Him and Sarah led them all up the road and into church for a memorial!! That wasn't a coincidence that was planned. They all support him and every now and again they wheel him out and test public reaction. His wife, his daughters and probably the rest of the family don't think he's done anything wrong.

RF covering for Andrew?
Jacquette · 31/01/2025 23:39

@Extiainoiapeial yes. I suspect you are right about this.

Moonlightstars · 31/01/2025 23:47

How Fergie can even be near the paedophile is beyond me. William and Charles have been fucking pathetic about him. If he was my uncle or brother I would have nothing to do with him and cut him out of my life. The fact the British public is paying for him is sickening.
