Lovely but nothing new. Suited them to do that and totally understandable.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 19/12/2024 14:30

I do like it, it’s a lovely family snap.

It’s a little more Christmassy on the instagram page with the added effects 🤣

Oh I’ve just realised it’s an image from the video Catherine released from when she announced she had completed her chemotherapy treatment!

Nice family snap. I wonder if they wanted to avoid too much attention by releasing something that has already been seen.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 19/12/2024 15:42

Lovely.

Not2identifying · 19/12/2024 15:52

I can understand them taking this approach this year. I'd prefer a proper card next year! I always find their Christmas card images very unfestive though. They are nearly all taken in the summer.

MaryJosephandCherylnotJesus · 19/12/2024 15:55

Oooh, I love this. Understated yet lovely, they look like any other happy family. I hope they have a lovely Christmas and can relax (as much as a family in their position can) after the year they've had.

(I dare say the anti-Royal brigade will be on here in a minute, though, asking why we even care/saying the monarchy should be abolished blah blah blah)

justasking111 · 19/12/2024 15:59

Not anti monarchy but it's so dull

Samcro · 19/12/2024 16:19

its a lovely photo. but not christmassy.

SirChenjins · 19/12/2024 16:23

I like it - and I imagine it's very meaningful to them.

See they've avoided the 'from the office of...' Grin

Manypaws · 19/12/2024 16:25

It's a lovely photo

Yeah, that’s my only issue with it. But then neither are any of their previous or any other Royal’s Christmas cards either. It must be a Royal/aristocratic thing to have non-Christmassy Christmas cards.

It is a nice photo. The children are getting so big.

But yeah, they never do Christmassy ones. Maybe they think it's a bit naff to dress up in Christmas jumpers and put tinsel everywhere. Grin

JimHalpertsWife · 19/12/2024 16:41

They are never christmassy though.

Pieceofpurplesky · 19/12/2024 16:43

If they wore Christmas jumpers it would be seen as tacky. If they were on holiday in snow they would be seen as shoving their wealth down our throats. If it was a new picture it would be picked apart by social media for manipulation, already twitter is awash with horrible comments about her 'fake' cancer etc.

This is a lovely photo.

GrumpyCactus · 19/12/2024 16:45

It's a lovely card I like that they made it more Christmassy on the online post with snow and that they used a photo we'd already seen.

What's wrong with a nice snow scene or a partridge in a pear tree?

its a lovely photo. but not christmassy.

Did you want them to wear Santa hats?

In theory that would be lovely. But if it doesn’t snow at the right time of the year in the UK, the only way they get a snowy scene is to go abroad, where they would get criticised for going on a skiing holiday in the Alps during a cost of living crisis. Or if they did the partridge in a pear tree, they would be criticised for showing off they have partridges and pear trees on their estate. And having tinsel and Christmas jumper would be considered tacky.

The royals never do Christmassy cards.

I like it. I'm glad the future looks brighter for them.

I think that poster meant why not a nice generic one. Not them in the snow, just a standard snowy scene. Or a robin in the snow etc. One that isn't the narcissistic photo of themselves for once that all the royals and othe public figures insist on.

And no doubt matching pj's too.

Not2identifying · 19/12/2024 17:30

I don't think they should wear Christmas jumpers or santa hats. And they definitely shouldn't go abroad looking for a snowy scene. 😂But they could be wearing coats or the Belgian royal family's card is lovely. They are inside and sat together, smartly dressed but not dripping in jewels.

And this isn't criticism, just a comment!

myrtleWilson · 19/12/2024 17:35

Am bemused as to why wearing coats would make it more Christmassy?

Bignanna · 19/12/2024 17:37

It’s better than H&M’s!
