If they wore Christmas jumpers it would be seen as tacky. If they were on holiday in snow they would be seen as shoving their wealth down our throats. If it was a new picture it would be picked apart by social media for manipulation, already twitter is awash with horrible comments about her 'fake' cancer etc.

This is a lovely photo.

They could have done a photo near the Christmas tree or somewhere outside with clear signs of December.
I suppose it is about “from our family to yours” and it’s a nice family photo but I’d prefer it to be Christmassy. And I think this about any family cards: royals or not, I just love Christmassy images.

Diana was extremely glamorous. People these days have forgotten how much she had an effect on style and fashion. She clearly loved clothes and designers loved making them for her. So many women had their hair cut in her style and wore clothes that she made popular.
I once sat a few seats away from her at a ballet premiere. She was about 25 at the time and everyone stood as she walked to her seat, she was wearing a black dress and had the most lovely glowing skin and looked stunning.

I'm so jealous!! I once had the opportunity to go to the Royal premiere of Steel Magnolias which she was attending. I was really busy with work so I stayed on and didn't go, thinking I'd have another opportunity! I never did! It's one of the bi regrets of my life.

I was doing a postgrad in Leicester Square and my DH came to meet me, and he saw her drive by. Being a simple soul, he described her as a beautiful woman with a big nose lol!

She was such a fashion icon. She carried herself so beautifully.

I did see her once at a public engagement, at a distance. And I'm shortsighted and I'd forgotten my glasses!

will be king enjoy sun at Christmas……

I miss Diana. As a child I loved her clothes and her glamour and so on. Seems funny now to look back on how ubiquitous images of her were.

I don't think they should wear Christmas jumpers or santa hats. And they definitely shouldn't go abroad looking for a snowy scene. 😂But they could be wearing coats or the Belgian royal family's card is lovely. They are inside and sat together, smartly dressed but not dripping in jewels.

I can understand them taking this approach this year. I'd prefer a proper card next year! I always find their Christmas card images very unfestive though. They are nearly all taken in the summer.

And to those of us who actually celebrate Christmas in summer they look very festive!

I was a bit meh that they re-used a still from their video rather than issuing a new photo but recognise they may just have picked an image that they really loved, and fair enough.

I’m sure they are also mindful that their Christmas cards will still be looked at many years in the future (people always post their past decade of cards on instagram at this time of year and we’ve been discussing a past Charles and Diana card on this very thread) so it may well have been a way to mark for posterity, but subtly, that 2024 was the year of Kate’s cancer diagnosis and treatment.
