Anyone starting to feel sorry for them?

No matter how preeningly narcissistic the couple may seem, surely even they must now have realised what the source of their woes is? The fact is: people were only interested in hearing what Harry and Meghan had to say when they were dishing the dirt on the royal family.Hence, in January last year, the record-breakingly vast sales of Harrys memoir Spare. with all its eye-popping claims about his brother, father and stepmother. But every time he, and Meghan, start talking about any other topic – be it sport, jam or social justice – the world turns off. No one cares. Now that the Sussexes have finished flogging all the family secrets, they’ve got nothing that anyone wants.

There is part of me that does feelsorry for them too. I mean 2024 has been a disaster, off the back of 2023 which was another disaster. It’s not going to get any better. Reap what you sow, so we knew it was coming their way but it’s all a bit sad and pathetic now. The faux tours, cards from ‘the office of’, as time goes on, the more pathetic that will look because they have lost all connection to the Royals

This must be their year of reckoning. He won’t win his cases, they will lose Netflix, the brand will face further set backs, they realise that their kids will never have a royal Christmas at Sandringham or summer at Balmoral, ever. In fact they are unlikely to ever meet the King again.

Its all came off the rails. We all knew it would happen. Many could even see the disaster impending from the engagement announcement. But it’s still hard to watch and that’s what makes me feel a bit sorry for them.

Prepared to be flamed! 😬

Harry's clearly still working through a huge amount of issues caused by his own childhood, I'm not sure he has ever really known what's "normal". Both his parents tried very hard and both did love him, but were seriously flawed, damaged people themselves who should never have married.

IMO the SS reaction to the occasional glimpses of the Sussex children are again driven by jealousy and a need to "one up" the Waleses. Everything their idols do has to be the better choice, to think otherwise is to admit they're fallible.

The problem is that I don't think he's working through his issues, despite all the therapy he's having.

To get benefit from therapy you have to be prepared to do hard and uncomfortable work on yourself, and it's abundantly clear that Harry has no interest in self reflection - he wants to blame everyone else for all his problems, and while he has that mentality he'll never get any better.

I strongly suspect he only uses therapists who validate his sense of self pity and resentment.

Yes his childhood was dysfunctional, but the same is true for many many other people who deal with it far better - but he's always worn his trauma like a protective cloak to avoid having to take any responsibility for his own behaviour.

l think I must be a defective parent by Harry’s assumed norms. I don’t have my DC on my lock screen.

Nor do I, trees on mine!

William had the same parents yet has turned out fine . I think some people forget that he also lost his mother , not just Harry .
I do think the best thing that happened to him was meeting and marrying Catherine who comes from a close knit family, a family that has remained discreet and supportive over the years.

Yes Harry seems to use his Mother's tragic death as the reason for all his wellbeing issues whereas I bet he'd have sadly turned out the same petulant prat if she were alive. Different arguments, different flounces but the same arrogant person lashing out and attention seeking. Just boils down to the fact that he is jealous of William, it is sibling rivalry on a different scale.

What you say makes me think that you only have to look at all the families you know, children with the same parents, same inherited everythings, and think how they all turned out different from one another.

Personality and character are interesting.

Mymanyellow · 12/01/2025 21:13

Just read the launch of Meghan’s show has been put back to March, because of the wildfires in California.

I have the dog on my lockscreen. It seemed easier than picking the most favoured child out of three. I guess the longer you are a parent, you realise there's more to it photos on phones.

I don’t think I would be allowed to have my children’s photo on my Lock Screen. They get more opinionated as they get older! 😂😂

@WarmingClothesontheRadiator exactly.

So sad when really he and William share so many common experiences that no one else could ever understand. It’s tragic.

While they live a very privileged life, I do feel sympathy for them, Meghan especially.

I definitely think she's overhated. Is she perfect? No! But you can't deny that she gets a lot of abuse in the media and online.

I feel bad for her (and Kate). I feel like they've been the scapegoats of this royal feud. They are definitely the two most royals getting more hate online.

Do you feel sympathy for the the dozen employees interviewed recently by The Hollywood Reporter (highly respected industry publication) in their investigation and expose of workplace bullying by MM?

LBFseBrom · 13/01/2025 23:28

Where did you glean the idea that the Hollywood Reporter is a highly respected industry publication? It's a scurrilous rag!

I'm a former financial journalist, and believe me, the Hollywood Reporter is not a gossip rag. It's a very well-known, well-regarded industry publication that has existed for many decades and that, along with Variety, is one of the "bibles" of the industry.

Dismissing it as a rag is a sure sign of someone who has no idea what they are talking about!

I suspect PP knows exactly how highly regarded and influential this industry 'bible' is - and thats why they felt compelled to rubblish it.

Also worth noting that the publication's Editor in Chief Maer Roshan - doubled down and went on to give an interview on their investigation ...... not seen any attempt by the highly litigious H&M to sue for defamation / libel - which seems out of character for them - I wonder why?

Serious question, is the Hollywood Reporter really considered a highly respected publication?

I honestly forget about the staff (also confirmed in Spare that they made staff members cry).

Still, hating every little thing she does is weird

It would indeed be "weird" to be "hating every little thing she does", but then I don't think that many people do!

Rather, they are critical about some of her behaviour, and that is on her (and him, let's not leave Harry out!!)

I do, purely because I tend to leave it lying around at kids' meet up groups and no one has to unlock it to see which is mine!

I have my DC and my DGC on mine with me cuddling them all to show how very, very much I love them <preen>
However, I don't have DH on it (he took the picture) so our divorce is obviously imminent.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 15/01/2025 21:36

I have us as a family. Dh has the dog. I should LTB. But he’s not really a B! Just the dog is unconditional love and doesn’t answer back. And doesn’t need picking up at 1am.
