Kensington Palace have announced Catherine’s fourth Together At Christmas service at Westminster Abbey will be held on 6 December. This year’s theme is celebrating those supporting others in need.

There will be musical performances by stars including Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean and Gregory Porter.

"The service will shine a light on individuals from all over the UK who have shown love, kindness and empathy towards others in their communities," the palace said.

The event, supported by The Royal Foundation, will be filmed as part of a special programme on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.

It has been said he will go to Eton. 13 is the usual age to start at Eton, so it would be normal for him to start then. George is 11 years old, so will start at Eton in 2026.

It has been said by whom? I agree he probably will go there but no official announcement has been made 🤷‍♀️

7 day boarding is mandatory at Eton? (as a pp mentioned..).

Gosh that must be hard for kids just out of primary level. I'm not going to judge anyone who has kids boarding, I know some of them have parents who cannot always be in the country etc. and so on.

I'd imagine it would be lonely at first anyway. But then the shenanigans start and a bond is built up with fellow pupils I suppose. And networks too!

I've no experience of that system, nor do I know anyone who uses it. Ordinary Mary + family here, but well educated in the State system just the same.

stillavid · 08/12/2024 18:57

Kate and William have looked around several other schools for George - I don't believe any official announcement yet.

But they have definitely been seen on several occasions at other full boarding schools.

It has been widely reported. Official announcements about where a child will go to school usually only happens at the very last minute. I would expect a month before he starts that it will be officially announced.

Tbf. They don’t start at Eton until year 9

CandyMaker · 08/12/2024 19:10

@Havalona I do not agree with full boarding for any child. But it is the traditional way for the Royal family.

Reported by whom ?
Are you the poster who claims to have inside knowledge and George is definitely going to Eton ? He may well go there however as others have said , his parents have been seen at other schools such as Marlborough .

Where has it been widely reported? It was reported that they visited Eton but as pp said, they also visited other schools including Marlborough which is the school Catherine attended

I do not know what poster you are talking about. But no I am not claiming to have insider knowledge.
It has been widely reported in various media. I read.
I am not going to argue this any more. But maybe I will come back in 2026 to remind you that you said it had not been decided where George goes, when he in fact goes to Eton.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 08/12/2024 19:15

I have a social-climbing acquaintance who has tried to second guess which school George will be sent to and has reserved a place for her child accordingly. She is fucking mental, so I wish Catherine and William (and their security team) all the best in scraping off that particular barnacle if her guess is correct.

I would send him to Eton. If only because my nutcase acquaintance isn't sending her kid there. Plus, it's so close to Windsor.

No one is saying that he isn’t going to Eton. We are agreeing that this is likely. What we are saying is that this has not been confirmed at all and so it is entirely possible that he won’t go there. Why is this so hard to understand? You are saying he is definitely going there but as this has not been confirmed yet, we want to know how you know

stillavid · 08/12/2024 19:23

We should do a sweepstake ;)

Bradfield
Wellington
Marlborough
Eton

those are the front runners I hear.

Or maybe they will all go to the local comprehensive.

CandyMaker · 08/12/2024 19:29

@smilesy My last comment here.
I understand what you are saying. You do not understand what I am saying. I have said several times that it has been widely reported in the media that George will go to Eton.
Things the Royal Family do are often widely reported before any official announcement.
This is what has happened this time.
Any official announcement about George going to Eton will not happen until the last minute - George has still to be officially offered a place yet for a start. So it would be premature to officially announce he is going to Eton. But the media are reporting that George is going to Eton, because he is, even if the timing is not right for an official announcement.

Havalona · 08/12/2024 19:37

It must be Eton, since George will be near enough to cycle home for lunch if he gets a dispensation from the 7 boarding rule. 😊 Maybe that's why the Wales decamped to Windsor recently anyway.

namechange1975 · 08/12/2024 19:56

Why do any of you care what school he is going to he is not your child.

It's just a bit of Royal goss and spec. Lighten up.

WinnieTheW0rm · 08/12/2024 20:09

The advantage of Eton is that the security team can be accommodated on the Windsor estate. Plus he'd be nice and near if they wanted to spring him for the odd weekend afternoon tea, or to turn up for fixtures, concerts, plays etc.

But for boarding (which both his parents did) the important thing is finding the school where you think the DC will thrive - not just academically, but the whole package and ethos.

Yes it has been widely speculated in the press that he will go to Eton. That is not the same as absolute certainty which is what you seemed to imply that you had. If that is base solely on what has been reported, it is still possible that it is incorrect. You do not seem to be allowing for this possibility. That is what posters are questioning

Rats to Frederick Windsor ... what I want to know is who the guy on the left is!!

Sophie is absolutely beautiful! I thought it was lovely that their eldest Maud started in Thomas Battersea the same time as George. They were in the same year

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 22/12/2024 09:30

Catherine asked Lady Gabriella Windsor to help her plan Christmas carol service after the death of her husband. Lady Gabriella was said to be “very touched and grateful to the princess” to be asked for her contribution.

It’s believed Lady Gabriella supported Catherine and played an advisory role with the organising team around the music performances that featured during the service.

What a sweet, heart warming gesture from Catherine.

They are fairly near. And Savannah Phillips, and persumably her sister will be, started at at Bradfield this year. However, on a security footing Eton and Bradfield are very much on the village so to speak. An enclosed campus may be best. Which is what they did with Lambrook and not sending them to George's Windsor. Which is very much exposed.

CandyMaker · 22/12/2024 18:21

Eton. It is pretty obvious that is where George will go.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 24/12/2024 15:08

Anyone else anticipating some sort of Monteceito pap-walk/press release/festive jam launch/'happening' to draw attention away from the broadcasting of this carol concert?

A Montecino pap walk.😂 I’m surprised they haven’t done that yet!
