Meghan at glitzy launch party

Meghan in LA this week at some fancy launch party. Think these are her friends who own a high end salon.

The wavy hair has made a return, I’m guessing this is the new look she’s going for, for the rebrand. Jury is out out for that particular style- mid parting, flat waves. Thinks she suits a side part, with full waves. But hey!

Personally I like the paired down eye make up look. I always thought the heavy lashes and dark shadows were a bit much for royal duties (I feel Kates is far too heavy on the smokey eye too!)

But it sure does make her look different. I do think ita just make up and not surgery…but other posters are better at spotting these things.

Harry not there. They are her friends, so no real reason but when it’s a social event, doesn’t look great that they aren’t together….again

Hang on- this thread is... Woman goes out in public without partner and slightly different hair?

Feminism is dead.

But the Royal MN thread is alive! So swings and roundabouts

@OneTealSloth She hasn’t royally fucked it up. As I said maybe the life of a small time LA influencer with her husband’s vast inherited wealth is a good one. But she’s not the global superstar either she or Harry thought they would be at this stage. Or even major celebrities in the US. This isn’t someone who is attending the Met Gala, the Grammys, the Emmys and is also photographed at a friend’s hair care launch. I assume her PR put these photos out so that this is the most high profile thing she’s done in November is what should concern them from a business perspective (and a recorded video I am told).

And note I am not focussing on Meghan alone. A lot, if not the majority of the missteps were Harry’s. Without Royal protection and PR he’s appeared a bit clueless and charmless.

i saw Harry in my local tesco car park
well it looked like him

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 17/11/2024 08:52

She looks very happy. I hope she is doing well.

I still think it’s a shame that she decided to ruin her beautiful face with plastic surgery and procedures. She doesn’t look better for it, but it’s her decision and if she’s happy with the results, good for her.

Threw what all away? Being a royal with all its restrictions on everything from your rights to your nail varnish, while your days mostly revolve around boring events with the great unwashed?

Oh right.
I thought the royals were supposed to be really lazy and pretend to do the odd engagement while living in luxury.
Now I find they spend their days with what you charmingly call "the great unwashed".
Working hard then.

Sure but as you allude to that all applies to trademarked goods too. Believe me I know it's difficult it is to pursue IP infringement - that's a large part of my job! The post I was responding to was saying that in the absence of a trademark anyone could use their brand to sell things. That's nonsense.

Disney go after Etsy knock offs all the time by the way!

Edited

Doesn’t stop people selling Disney products on Etsy though does it. There are thousands of products labelled ‘Disney inspired’

So it’s likely that people will try and use ARO, if she launches it. She very unlikely to take on Etsy sellers/online sellers because people are unlikely to be confused by the products.

Don't disagree with any of that. Although it does stop lots people selling on Etsy generally as they've been banned rather than sued. There are so many popping up though it's like whack a mole!

Absolutely agree people will try to use ARO if she launches it (regardless of trademark status) but that's got nothing to do with the post I was responding to.

But have you on TV to claim that you move together, work together etc ? Unlike other Royals ….
That’s why it’s raising eyebrows.

Well exactly. Their point when talking about their relationship was always use it to do down his family - it wasn't just 'we married because we are so.in love', that came with 'the rest of my family had to marry for duty'. 'We work side by side' was followed by 'the rest of my family isn't able to do that'. And their supporters saying that their PDAs were proof of a loving marriage, Catherine and William's less demonstrative public persona was proof they hated each other.

So they are now showing public behaviours that they are their supporters have pointed to as evidence that their family members were not in love, that their relationships were transactional or dysfunctional.

@MangshorJhol I think they are living the type of life they want to live now. If I look at Meghans public appearances in the past year. It’s been for their (faux lol) royal tours, Polo match to film their show, hospital charity gala appearance, tennis match to support a friends charity, book store opening for their community etc and now this to support a friend.

the global superstar dreams will have been squashed I think, they are just aiming for financial stability IMO hence ARO. Harry will do well to stop wasting money on lawsuits too

I'd love it if these 2 stick together for the rest of their days....if only to stick it to the miseries here who love to speculate, even though they obviously don't know them from Adam

I totally agree. The insane projections people make on this couple beggars belief. I prefer just the evidence of my own eyes - Meghan is a beautiful, stylish woman who sometimes doesn't get it absolutely right fashion wise (who does?) and Harry is busy and productive. We don't know all the ins and outs of their relationship but the insane bullying of Meghan by the British media and others is disgusting and horrible.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 17/11/2024 09:37

There does seem to be an assumption on here that global superstars was the aim. Nothing they’ve done gives that impression if you strip out rumours and assumptions about what they might want. They have withdrawn a lot from the public eye, including avoiding opportunities to be papped that might keep them higher in the fame stakes. They have done some smaller events, but agree with @OneTealSloth that this is possibly the lifestyle they actually want now they’ve had time and space to plan it.

investing in other peoples businesses rather than trying to run your own, doing a few charity events but not full time. Bringing in enough to pay the bills. Seems very low key but also very much like that aren’t striving for more.

This is like being privy to a bunch of spiteful teenage girls SM chat slagging off someone at school they are jealous of.

No wonder Meghan left the UK. Good on her.

Did you not see her disrespectful mocking of the late Queen Elizabeth on their Netflix documentary?. Showing that level of disrespect to a UK beloved monarch, who had dedicated her whole life to this country- aswell as welcoming Megan and facilitating her multi million pound wedding. No wonder the UK hates M Markle.

I don’t see how they withdrew from the public eye when they went ahead with that infamous Oprah interview, throwing unsubstantiated racism claims around to taint the RF. And then when they released a tell all Netflix documentary again about their perceived slights by the RF. For money. And yet they still want to retain their titles as Duchess/Duke of Sussex.

She was mocking herself no? Her own expectations of bowing that has now been spurn into mockery.

MangshorJhol · 17/11/2024 09:53

Come on! Have we forgotten the initial statement they released when they left? They wanted to promote the RF in the Commonwealth, and collaborate with the Queen. And bring Archie up with an appreciation of the royal tradition he was born into. Hair care in LA was not the goal of this statement. This statement which only a few years old shows quite what their initial ambition was and how far they have had to pivot from it. It’s a bit a naive to say this is what they wanted all along!

And maybe the low key life is what they have now settled for after several missteps but it is clearly clearly not what they were hoping for in January 2020…

Documentary was in 2022, Book in early 2023. She disappeared for a few months last year, I recall headlines asking where she was, Meghan disappearing for 100 days etc telegraph drew a table counting her sparse appearances asking what happened to her.she has been low-key.

They may no longer be representing the Queen but Harry is still active with his patronages and charities, commonwealth tours etc you don’t need superstardom for that.

Why does she have to physically plaster herself all over whoever is supposed to be the focus of every event she goes to? Most peopke can manage to stand next to someone for a photograph. She seems to feel the need to try to climb inside their skin. She was the same at that children's gala, recently. It's weird.

That was one of my thoughts. She always has to get her face stuck right into the person. It's probably so she is in all the photos and can't be cut off.

Hmmm, sending bags of sweets to children and writing the occasional letter doesn’t really do much does it ? Shame he couldn’t find it in himself to finance the annual festival that they can’t afford this year .
Any update on African Parks ?

They make me sad because they misplayed their hand so badly. If she’d stick with her podcast, taken some hosting classes to get better etc that would be something. They seem to have alienated everyone, from their families to the entertainment executives who took a chance on them.

🤣🤣🤣🤣
She'd never ever listen to anyone, she doesn't want to do the hard work, she rides in the shoulders of others and doesn't listen to anyone ... she believes in herself ... at least someone does I guess

FloofPaws · 17/11/2024 10:06

' And I think that maybe partying with her mates in Hollywood, and the occasional small philanthropic gesture,'

... except its 'philanthropy' with someone else's money!!
