Meg’s era of joy

Showing up to support her very close friend who lost her child and also the children’s hospital at an evening gala. What a friend to have in the Duchess. Meghan was glowing, fresh faced, wore minimal makeup, was confidant and smiley. She was well spoken and supportive of the evening fund raiser when interviewed. Show Up, Do Good. Yes, she always does. Loved her look too.

It's interesting you say that she's under a lot of stress @Twistybranch because she was the one who talked about 'thriving not just surviving'.

Life in the RF must seem quite palatable now. Do a few ribbon cuttings, go to some charity events, throw in a red carpet event or gala (don’t forget to choose which designer you want to showcase first), back home to a mortgage free mansion, kick back, relax.

JSMill · 09/10/2024 20:51

I remember on M's wedding day, a news commentator remarked she would never have to worry about money again. She threw that away. I suppose you could admire that but I suspect she thought she could do even better on her own and it has backfired spectacularly.

I would love to see the pros and cons list they drew up on that Canadian break before Megxit.

I was thinking that all through their wedding, how she’d never have to worry about money, a home, bills etc ever again. Maybe she never did worry about such things so she didn’t view them the way you or I might have.

PlayDadiFreyr · 09/10/2024 21:14

I couldn't have plastic surgery because I wouldn't like to not look like my son any more.

I actually found a self portrait from an art project when I was fourteen and was astonished to find myself looking into my son's eyes! I drew them over twenty years before he was born.

She's changed her face, and won't be able to look at her children and see herself reflected there. That's quite sad.

I’d not use Pamela, Pamela has a very difficult back story. One I won’t go into as it’s unedifying but you can spend some time looking it up. She’s going for this clean natural look for reasons that are very different to embracing ageing.

For an example, Julia Roberts is phenomenally beautiful yet looks her age and I don't think she has had anything done, just won the gene lottery. Also she comes over very relaxed and comfortable in her own skin, similar to Cameron Diaz and she also looks just as beautiful now as in her 20s, if not better. Maybe it's inner self acceptance shining through or something hippy like that

😂😂😂

Embarrassingly saccharine sweet hyperbolic sycophancy!

I would never post about anyone in those terms. Gives me the ick!

What a friend indeed...

She looks very nice.

I was just re-watching Harry and Meghan on Netflix, and I thought they were so right to leave the UK.

The amount of abuse she got was awful.

Maybe Kate should be leaving too then?

I wouldn't watch them once, let alone re-watch!!

I think she looks absolutely beautiful actually. I can’t see the filler, but then I never can. I think she looks natural, youthful and glowing. I’ve always thought she has a really lovely face and if she’s had work, it’s very good, subtle work.

Oh come on, it's not!

I know I’m late to the party but what the fuck has she done to her face? She used to be so pretty but over the past few years she has really gone over the top with procedures and she looks so old and haggard for her age. I actually prefer the rounder face look she had after she was pregnant with Archie. Pregnancy really softened her features. She’s always been such a naturally pretty woman, I find it so sad that she’s felt the need to do this to herself.

She looks like a lollipop. All head, face and teeth and too skinny body. She used to look much better. She's ruining her looks.

Runnerinthenight · 09/10/2024 23:15

Petitchat · 08/10/2024 23:38

Do you think she has done this to herself or is it the result of seemingly millions of people against her?

What would YOU look like if you were this woman and millions claimed to hate you?

Probably pretty much the same as the woman who married in 2018, only a little older???

Have the "millions of people against her" forced her to have plastic surgery? That's quite a reach even for you!

Runnerinthenight · 09/10/2024 23:21

Roundthemoon · 09/10/2024 11:07

Of course it is inappropriate to speak about black/mixed women's hair in a nasty way.

Let's re-educate people on history.

First of all, as we all know, black people were abused for many years by white people. One of the ways that white people abused black people was to be nasty about their hair.

This is why you still find many black women now - permanently straightening their afros.

As they get such abuse about their natural hair.

Of course it's inappropriate to talk about a mixed race woman's hair negatively, and then compare it to a man's hair. This thread is so nasty.

So is it ok to speak about white women's hair "in a nasty way"?

Fuck me, we will soon be unable to discuss anything at all!!

Runnerinthenight · 09/10/2024 23:23

Roundthemoon · 09/10/2024 11:54

A lot of this thread is disgusting. No wonder she left England, if this was the amount of abuse that she got from people here.

It's like a pack of vultures. Real, real nasty and cruel stuff.

Bollocks.

But leaving England then didn't really help, if that's the way you think?

Woman pushes herself into the public view repeatedly and regularly, woman (or man!) knows they're going to get talked about. You don't want talked about, you keep a low profile and don't court publicity!

Runnerinthenight · 09/10/2024 23:28

Petitchat · 09/10/2024 12:26

Their supporters don't help with every photo released being gushed over

You mean like all the dislikers, with every photo released being picked apart, like vultures around a carcass?

Well... who was it started this thread and invited comment then, pray tell?!

Runnerinthenight · 09/10/2024 23:32

Petitchat · 09/10/2024 13:19

And that's a shame. Nothing wrong in telling your DD she's pretty and has lovely
hair.
That's just a few of the good things about her, I would think?

Yeah but he didn't tell her, he said it in public. Anyway most of us decent parents can find other attributes in our children to praise other than their looks.

I hope she hasn't inherited his intelligence.

Runnerinthenight · 09/10/2024 23:35

StrawberryWasp · 09/10/2024 13:59

I think Jennifer Aniston has gone too far just recently. She's had something done to her jaw line that has masculinised her.

I think Meghan is treading a careful line with her cosmetic work and hasn't yet gone too far. She looks less 'pretty' than she did when younger but does look very Hollywood polished which is a different thing.

She's nowhere near the Meg Ryan or Courtney Cox level of mess up. I guess they were a lesson in where the line is for those that followed them. They were the first women into their 40s and 50s to utilise some of the new cosmetic tech.

I think there's going to be some lessons in the taking ozempic too far for those coming later as well. M could be a cautionary tale for that she is becoming extremely thin and potentially getting the lollipop head.

In some photos, I think she is there already - like the ones where she was wearing a white halterneck and had her hand on Harry's leg.

I would love to see the pros and cons list they drew up on that Canadian break before Megxit.

Now that would make an interesting read!

I still think they thought they'd get to do all the glam bits of being Royal, waving from the balcony etc, without the hard bits like rocking up at community swimming pools, meeting random people, trying to put them at ease and keep a conversation flowing while everyone is nervous.

Then got upset when they got a big fat no, not happening.

@CoffeeCantata I give you Michael Kitchen

Aging gracefully with crinkly eyes and somewhat follically challenged Oh My Goodness I think he is just preternaturally attractive . Not sure if it's easier for men

@BasiliskStare This will sound stupid, but in some of those older clips he looks a lot like Hugh Jackman of 15 years ago. And Hugh Jackman, like his doppelganger, Clint Eastwood, is aIso ageing quite gracefully. I mean Clint Eastwood looks old, but he is old, and unashamedly so.

Michael Kitchen is very appropriate on a Royal thread. Didn't he play Prince Charles (as he was then) in a couple of things? If I remember correctly, he was effective.

You're not making any sense. You asked me 'what did harry do to get all the privilege'.

First.

Then I said back "what did the King do to get all the privilege" to point out that he King has done absolutely nothing either

And you then said "he inherited it"

So why did you ask about harry then?

Obviously you know Harry inherited it aswell

Poster said one is head of the state and other private citizen. On this this responded why being king is more important. He didn't do anything to earn becoming King.
So poster asked then why H&M are carrying the titles? They also didn't do anything to learn this. So you asked first.

Vespanest · 10/10/2024 07:54

Where I do stick up for Meghan is that for her the right choice was to leave, it had been better to do it without burning bridges as to have a plan B. There is a power balance in marrying into the royal family as for all the wealth and lifestyle for her it comes with grace and favour conditions, and to remain in the fold to be dutiful. Should their marriage not of worked whilst working royals, a divorce with him having very small assets compared to their lifestyle and mostly protected from divorce and Meghan ends up a Fergie. The spanner in the works is the cost of security and the reaction to how they left but financially the one it's hurt is Harry and even then he knows he can return tail between his legs and live for free. If you look at the intrusion of press that Catherine endures I doubt her personal wealth reflects this.

Meghan? Hot? She was in her Suits days (from the snippets I’ve seen) but not in the least now. I’m straight but can appreciate a ‘hot’ woman and the Meghan of 2024 is as far from hot as I am now (I was in my younger days lol).

Unless you meant someone else and I’ve just assumed you mean Meghan?
