Meg’s era of joy

Triplesec · 06/10/2024 22:40

Showing up to support her very close friend who lost her child and also the children’s hospital at an evening gala. What a friend to have in the Duchess. Meghan was glowing, fresh faced, wore minimal makeup, was confidant and smiley. She was well spoken and supportive of the evening fund raiser when interviewed. Show Up, Do Good. Yes, she always does. Loved her look too.

thought it was mean to do pics of someones feet close up and ridicule them

Well I’ve just found a thread, one of the ‘Out and about with Meghan” threads and the poster wasn’t ridiculing them at all, the comments were quite sympathetic, and her feet looked fine anyway.

JaneJeffer · 07/10/2024 21:08

That's ok @Viviennemary but searching MN for pictures of feet would be a big mistake I feel Grin I did a general google which came up with those articles but no MN threads

Roundthemoon · 07/10/2024 17:13

I definitely think that it is her era of joy as the OP said.

I'm glad they're both so happy and enjoying life.

Me too. It's lovely to see

Shame for people who dislike happiness in others...

Baital · 07/10/2024 23:29

It's a bit weird to announce an 'era of joy', surely?

I mean, it's not something you can predict. Looking back maybe, if you are so inclined, you can label bits of your life.

But in the present?

I mean, all was going well and DD has been diagnosed with a chronic medical condition. Treatable and no big deal in the grand scale of things. But a week ago I could have announced an 'era of joy', and today coming to terms with an unwelcome diagnosis.

Very strange and a bit performative

ChangeItAgainSam · 07/10/2024 20:49

Why does she look so completely different?
That's not just a difference from an alternative make up look, she doesn't look like the same person there.

I agree with you.

She looked very pretty at the function but she looked like a very pretty someone else. I didn’t recognise her until I spotted a very slight turning in of one of her eyes that can sometimes be seen in pictures.

Tezza1 · 08/10/2024 00:24

jeffgoldblum · 07/10/2024 17:31

Boring , tedious and not a patch on Boston legal.

@jeffgoldblum You've summed it up very well. Also, it lacked the clever writing that Boston Legal had.

And I say that as a Gina Torres' fan. Loved her in Firefly. Loved everyone in Firefly. Just loved Firefly, actually. And Gabriel Macht in The Others (TV series, not the movie).

I thought the relationship between Rachel and Mike was like something written as an adolescent girl's wishful thinking and was the thing that made me stop watching about halfway through the second series. Didn't she slap him across the face a couple of times, or was I just anticipating how I thought the plot was going to progress?

This sounds a bit unusal and not sure its possible - but her hair line looks altered - it used to be lower down her forhead and also coming in at the sides when she used to wear her hair slicked back. It now looks like she has had it waxed or lazered her hair line as its much higher up?

Just stumbled across this thread.
If the SS are going this extreme, this quickly, then things aren't good for H&M.
I got to "Taste yo urinalysis" in a post by Spectre8 and got very distracted by wondering if they knew what "urinalysis" meant and, if so, who would want to taste it?
(I know the old story about diagnosing diabetes, but I don't think that's what was meant)

Weird, weird thread.

I think this is probably most likely. Unless it’s a ruse for more publicity and they will emerge together “living their best life” or whatever other rubbish is thrown around.

I see the jealousy and racism accusations have started up again so I suspect that actually things aren’t great. I don’t feel for H&M but I do feel for their dcs.

Am I maybe misunderstanding? Are you saying you didn’t recognise Megan markle? Surely not? She may have had some subtle tweaks, but she is unmistakeable, so likely I’m misunderstanding?

MummyJ12 · 08/10/2024 07:37

@Baital sorry to read about your DD. I hope her condition can be managed well and wishing her all the best. 🌷

Era of joy sounds very odd. I can’t help but think she’s pinching Taylor Swift’s idea! We know Meghan can struggle with originality. But the Eras Tour was about Taylor’s musical and album Eras and she’s had many distinct eras and so it makes sense. Era of joy does not make sense. Especially when it clearly isn’t an era of joy for her. Let’s not forget, from her interview when she said that she has so many close friends with such poorly children in the LA hospital she went to the gala for.
It’s not even Christmas yet.

BunnyLake · 07/10/2024 19:16

I can’t say I like her flat pointed shoes. To be honest they’re not very flattering on her. Although I’m not sure flat pointy shoes are very flattering on anyone unless they have very petite feet maybe.

Would agree. I like most of her heels - especially the 'Aquazzura'? ones.

I really don't like many of her flats. Too long pointed toes, I prefer flats with rounded, shorter toes. And too many in beige/cream.

I agree - her face looks much longer than usual - bizarre. She looks lovely in that link, though - when her face was much rounder. I know I'm completely out of step with fashion in this but I used to think she looked best with a bit more weight on. When you consider that the camera is said to put on 10 pounds, Meghan must be extremely slim.

Or it could be Ozempic - that has strange effects on your appearance if you're already slim to start with. I find it depressing that women who are already very slender feel they have to go to extremes - but I guess that's Hollywood. It can be ageing, so once they've lost all the weight they then have procedures to counter that - it's a crazy world out there.

CoffeeCantata · 08/10/2024 08:02

@MummyJ12 I think you could be right here - she must have picked up on the word 'era' from Taylor Swift. As you say, Meghan is often very obvious and unoriginal.

How ridiculous! Even great artists only have eras and periods in retrospect - and then the label is usually given by someone else, like Picasso's Pink and Blue Periods - I don't think he called them that - he wouldn't have been so pompous.

And as a pp said, it's tempting fate to announce you're in your Era of Joy, isn't it?

jeffgoldblum · 08/10/2024 08:13

@Tezza1 , I too am a firefly fan , loved Gina Torres and Nathan fillian .

AnnieMcFanny · 08/10/2024 08:41

This sounds a bit unusal and not sure its possible

Its entirely possible for someone to have altered their appearance so much that they look very different.

Am I maybe misunderstanding? Are you saying you didn’t recognise Megan markle? Surely not? She may have had some subtle tweaks, but she is unmistakeable, so likely I’m misunderstanding?

No. You’re not misunderstanding. I didn’t recognise her. Her face has lost its softness and roundness and she now looks chiselled to the extent there is nothing subtle about whatever work she has had done. And yes it was only when I saw the very slight turning in of her right eye, as well as thinking I’d seen the red dress before without the train, that I realised it was her.

Its easy enough not to recognise someone you meet after not seeing them for a while and they’ve perhaps lost weight or have a different hair colour let alone see a picture of someone you don’t personally know and not recognise them because they look so different.

Thedom · 08/10/2024 08:44

Someone else mentioned this, but some of the poses / lighting make her look very harsh, almost masculine.

Meg’s era of joy

Thedom · 08/10/2024 08:46

she now looks chiselled .

I think this is it, chiselled as you have described, I couldn't put my finger on it, it's why she has that almost 'masculine' look to her face now.

ThePoshUns · 08/10/2024 09:12

I think looking at those photos that she has had a chin implant and cheek fillers.
It might be the chin implant that is elongating her face.
I think she looks prettier with a rounder face, I think she may have overdone the ozempic and is trying to now add more volume.

LaMarschallin · 08/10/2024 09:15

@Triplesec

I'm not sure I understand your original post.
You titled it "Meg's era of joy" then, in your post, you describe your own perception of one evening when Meghan was photographed at an event.
What is your understanding of an "era"?
Is this era starting from that event or happening during it?
Also, "era" being a finite length of time, presumably you can see an end to whatever this era is or was? When will that be? Or was the end of the era when she got home and had supper in front of the television rather than at a table at the gala?

What will the next "era" be?
When will some Sussex Squad polish up their use of English?
How long is a piece of string?
These questions and many others will be answered on the next edition of "Soap"...

(Maybe if Meghan had got a decent, long lasting part on a soap we'd never have been discussing her now...)

theemptinessmachine · 08/10/2024 09:21

I did like the mermaid hair on her. Your hairline does start to recede/ weaken as you age. I'm sure her hair has had so much styling for events plus additions and so much treatments like straightening. They all take their toll. Look at Naomi Campbell's.

As I said in a pp, it’s a lot of nonsense. You can’t declare a range of time that hasn’t even happened yet to be joyful. No one says stuff like that. It’s just meaningless Hollywood style claptrap.

I can’t understand why she comes out with things like this, she’s a grown woman in her forties surely she has an inner voice somewhere that can filter her words. Chapter of joy, era of joy I mean, really, I bet even the ss have never uttered such phrases in their real lives.

Sorry to hear about your DD.

Maybe we are all misunderstanding and “Joy” is the name of a new friend she has? Or a perfume she likes to wear 🤷‍♀️

theemptinessmachine · 08/10/2024 09:37

At least it's not Strength through Joy which is something totally different 😉

You mean it’s Joy’s era until Megs ghosts her then it’s someone else’s era?! 😂
