Ashley was approached by other clients who were seeking the high-quality counsel she has provided to the Sussexes.

'High quality counsel' that's a bit of a stretch! she should have left when she originally quit, they clearly paid her to stay on at that time.

It's really lousy timing for this announcement, immediately after the employee bullying disclosures, and the spin they are trying to put on it is amusing. Likely the retention package expired at a very inconvenient time and she was not staying a minute longer as their employee.

I dunno. When she had that weird long hug with the president guy. She said oh it’s my pleasure, which makes me think personally he was thanking her, and she’s turned up on request to lend it (and her) publicity, although that doesn’t explain why she didn’t attend the event itself, unless she didn’t wish to.

but that would be bad, if she’s now just turning up to lend publicity to things. And get some from herself.

I can’t believe that she just turned up for photos and left. I can’t - it’s more damaging than not going at all, obviously! She can’t be that stupid.

WME should have piled her on to a table with some known sycophants for some photos of her (in the middle, centre stage) with her arms round attractive women laughing uproariously at a shared in joke and another shot of her looking earnest, sympathetic and concerned with a weeping WASP who’s crying on her shoulder about some photogenically injured offspring. Also she could have been gazing up at Jamie LC’s speech, eyes brimming with unshed tears, to show how she Shows Up.

She can’t possibly have just pitched up in a remodelled dress, clutched people’s hands to her crotch and sidled out as soon as the cameras turned to someone else. It’s mad.

I will say, peculiar bust detail aside, she looks good in lots of stills. Video is slightly awkward with a hint of mania. Or panic? And I like her hair.

The most dogged of the Sussex Squad were never that keen on standing up for Harry. I always thought he was more irritating for whining SO MUCH so publicly after so much privilege and bleating about his privacy and it was largely let go. They were standing up for a black woman not a couple. One of them literally said they stood up for her “because” she was black. Poor Meghan.

I wouldn’t put anything beyond her, after all if she just turned up who’s going to stand there and stop her? I can easily imagine her swanning in brazenly trying to look as if she’s meant to be there and once she’s in there being a realisation that she doesn’t have an invitation. Why else who anyone leave before the main event? It’s a photo opportunity 🤷🏼‍♀️

I thought it looked rather last minute. As in she looked attending the event more how most people look leaving an after party.

Not her normal put together self. She would have looked much better in the green dress if she was going to rewear.

The Sun, going to great lengths to say that they can’t say they are separated they because of libel laws basically. Very odd to make a story about how they can’t write a story.

But according to dodgy mags across the Pond, and even one in spain the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in the middle of a trial separation and/or heading to the divorce courts before you can say “finding freedom”.
Over here, of course, we wouldn’t be so bold — or legally liable — to write anything so silly.
And because I can sense my lawyers now twitching furiously — for the record, Harry and Meghan have NOT announced their separation.
Newspapers and broadcasters can, however, slowly drip-feed the facts.

Members of their team have been studiously briefing, insisting all is fine and that it’s perfectly normal for couples to spend some time apart.

Which, in itself, seems an extraordinary and unnecessary move if all truly is well.
Surely, say nothing.
Friends of friends from the UK claim that earlier this year the pair stayed at their Californian mansion, in Montecito.
But I am reliably told Meghan was barely seen — prompting speculation she was perhaps not in the marital home.

Assuming the press must know ‘something’ was wrong then for the Waleses, and it’s just as wrong now for the Sussexes

Yes, I know they have opted to put their romance into the public domain, and so people might speculate if their love story is as strong as they portray it (especially as they have such form for a highly individual approach to the truth to the extent it might not align with publicly verifiable events).

But that doesn’t mean that the papers must ‘know something’ when they print twaddle like this.

According to the "dodgy magazines" is not the sort of source I think even The Sun should be quoting. They were the sort of magazines who spread all the lies about Catherine and William earlier in the year. I see no reason to believe anything they write now either. The Sun is just being its usual vile self and using others as cover.

Having said that, from a PR point of view the Sussexes and their staff haven't been doing a good job in recent weeks. Maybe they have finally decided that "never complain never explain" is the way to go? But I'm not sure it will work in the light of their previous "blurt everything" strategy.

Whatever the truth is it will emerge eventually.

I would agree. I'm not taking the word of the Sun and dodgy foreign mags.

The bullying claims I believe, I believe they don't seem to understand PR and it comes across as propaganda. Harry still looks like a prat and Meghan needs to give up on that dress, but I thinkthey are still together.

But it's smacks of the act of a desperate woman. Which really does makes me think they have split. Her only real relevance is being married to PH.
If they divorce she becomes as relevant as Capt Mark Philips or Fergie she wouldn't hold the relevance that Diana did as she isn't the Mum to a future King.

I can't even work out how she got as far as the red carpet. You'd expect these events are hyper alert for gatecrashers, including being asked for ticket 🎟 and security checks. Surely they didn't just let her through? Someone must have arranged it.

If it's true that she only stayed for the red carpet photos, it's very much in line with previous appearance - remember the ESPY awards when they all created chaos by getting up and leaving after H had received the award - actually during a performance/speech.

I really believe that Meghan doesn't realise how rude this is. She's been raised in the go-getting, brash, superficial world of Hollywood where only appearances count. She has no genuine interest in anyone other than herself, and can't seem to feign it either - which gives the lie to those who claim she was a great asset that the RF stupidly lost. No, she would NEVER have been able to do what royals do as their bread and butter: show (or feign) an interest in ordinary people and their achievements, remembering that (although they may have had hundreds of such meetings) it will be very special to the person they're talking to.

And I also thought she looked fragile, both physically and mentally. I'm sure even hard-nosed Meghan will have been affected by the damaging stories of bullying. She was probably OK with appearing in her finery, whilst clinging desperately to that woman - who looked very uncomfortable! But the thought of sitting down to dinner and having to converse with people in the light of recent issues (and without Harry) probably frightened her, even if she did have an invitation.

Agree and why was it publicised as a 'surprise' visit - hardly because she is such an A list superstar (above the others who went further and sat down alongside each other) - and just found a window in her calendar amonst her 100 night residency in Las Vegas, her filming on location, her humanitarian work in Africa etc.

There is a two year lead up to the event.

It makes me think of the end of the South Park episode where Harry opens Meghan up to find there's absolutely nothing inside. I also agree she isn't looking very well.
