https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-13922531/Meghan-Markle-Prince-Harry-global-press-secretary-announces-major-job-change.html

Ashley was approached by other clients who were seeking the high-quality counsel she has provided to the Sussexes.

'High quality counsel' that's a bit of a stretch! she should have left when she originally quit, they clearly paid her to stay on at that time.

It's really lousy timing for this announcement, immediately after the employee bullying disclosures, and the spin they are trying to put on it is amusing. Likely the retention package expired at a very inconvenient time and she was not staying a minute longer as their employee.

I think the infamous interview in The Cut said that Archie was at preschool, I don't think I'm remembering wrong. I certainly hope both children are mixing and socialising.

ETA on the subject of preschool, I'm pretty certain me and everyone else I know never went around hand in hand with their friends much after the age of 5. It's cute in very small children, less so in middleaged women who want to be taken seriously.

Edited

I understand Archie was at preschool.

Looking at that people article I laugh how they say she is a hero for recycling the gown.nope no income yo buy a new one. She also looks terrible
Dress didn't fit boobs then and still doesn't.

How could she have got dressed, looked in the mirror and decided she should go out looking like that?!

theemptinessmachine · 06/10/2024 22:33

I always think this - most people out and about have put something on that day and looked in the mirror and thought yes that looks good 😂
I can't see how M could think that about that dress.

friendlycat · 06/10/2024 23:44

It’s not a good dress. I’m surprised it’s been reworn. It also didn’t match the occasion.

Twistybranch · 07/10/2024 01:02

One interesting point from the first express article (it’s about how there’s been a notable shift with H&M) is that it says that Ashley Hansen will be working specifically on ARO.

Not only are they separating their work but even previously joint staff.

HeddaGarbled · 07/10/2024 01:17

Charles Spencer has so got his stirring spoon out.

BemusedAmerican · 07/10/2024 01:30

I haven't been impressed by Ashley's past PR.

Interesting. I said in the last few days that I wondered where the Squad would fall if it hit the fan and someone (can't remember who, sorry) said with Meghan and I think they were right.

Rabid loyalty can ultimately only have one focus and I think it's her.

I don’t follow this stuff at all but had a quick scroll down some of the posts from this X user. This person puts Meghan’s name first as in citing that the picture is of Meghan and Harry and lots of solo pictures of Meghan including oodles of her at the late Queen’s funeral. From what I saw, Harry was always portrayed very positively. This is the first time I saw not addressing him as Harry or Prince Harry. In this context I think saying he’s a menace means he’s fun. But already by not using his name, it feels as though there is less respect for him…

But Meghan would be nothing without Harry! How can her fans not see that. She’s only a duchess because Harry is a royal prince. I don’t get how some people come be so dim.

It does sound strange though about Harry not letting the children leave the house in case they get photographed. If true that sounds controlling beyond belief, and actually I'd even go so far as to say abusive. If Meghan wants yo take her children out to do some normal kid stuff and Harry is somehow preventing here then I feel sorry for her.

I do wonder, though, why she isn't taking them out now that he's off in Lesotho and can't stop her? Maybe she's afraid he'll leave her if she does or something? It's all just so very odd.

If it’s true that the children don’t leave the house much then the poor kids will be as screwed up as their parents in a few years.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 07/10/2024 07:14

I'm prepared to accept any kind of weirdness and peculiarity that H & M get up to, but I am doubtful that they keep their kids isolated and at home all the time. In the same way that George, Charlotte and Louis get up to all sorts in public but aren't photographed, perhaps there is tacit press agreement to not hassle the Sussexes when out and about (unless specifically summoned for a pap walk). They must go out, surely. They are not house cats.

Needanewname42 · 07/10/2024 07:27

I doubt it too.
I just don't think people are that interested in the kids, therefore it wouldn't sell magazines so just not worth the photographers time.

There are plenty celebrities who's kids are never seen.

Exactly, if she was still Mrs Trevor Engleson, no one would be interested in her, and there was no interest in her then, neither Oprah, Tyler Perry, Ellen would have even heard of her if Harry had not propelled her to fame and fortune.

I'm certainly not interested in their children.

I am concerned for them, though. I think M and H will have some very awkward questions to answer once they get older and start asking why they have no contact with any extended family other than Doria! I'd be furious if I got to my teenage years and discovered I had grandparents I'd never even been allowed to meet, and make my own mind up about - not to mention aunts, uncles and cousins. It's verging on abuse.

I just hope they do have contact with good friends both of their own age and of their parents'.

Vespanest · 07/10/2024 08:07

The cynical side of me can see the rumours of separation are a PR ploy, the bullying row completely overshadowed by the separation to be completely quashed at the optimal time and proving that the nasty press were wrong and therefore always wrong. It just feels off at the moment. All a bit of a charade.

Maybe, but you never hear that they brought the kids to events…like the charity tennis match or polo. Fair enough that there may be an agreement no to show their faces but it’s never mentioned that the kids have accompanied them. I don’t mean in advance, as they may see that as a security risk but when People talk about an event that they’ve appeared at, they don’t mention that the kids were there, playing and enjoying the day etc

In addition, they have already released public photographs of their children, so it would be difficult for them to argue that they have always treated their children’s lives as private.

Finally, there isn’t even any images taken by the general public and appeared online. There’s only been the 4th July parade. This stuff might not be printed in newspapers but they would find their way online and there’s nothing.

So I think they take the kids out, but where they take them to will be extremely limited and tried and tested. I doubt the kids leave Monticeito much at all.

Twistybranch · 07/10/2024 08:16

Also I know Rebels Wilson’s mum met Meghan at Polo and asked where the kids were once, seemingly meghan was rude to her. Harry was supposedly friendly. The kids weren’t with them

This was a polo match in Santa Barbra, so 10 mins down the road and they still didn’t take the kids

WondrousMoringPuertoRico · 07/10/2024 08:37

This scenario reminds me so much of someone I worked for. She would veer from being over the top nice to being almost demonic. It was the most incredibly stressful work experience of my life - the sheer uncertainty as to what version of the person you would get.

Micro management to extreme - standing behind you when you are on the phone telling you what to say, so you end up not being able to hear anyone at all. Calls at all hours but then vast stretches of time when you needed to speak to her but she was just 'missing'. Then that would be your fault when something was done in her absence. Always the wrong thing. Then other times sort of over stepping boundaries with 'kindness'. Just too too much, all the time.

I ended up going on extended sick leave - for unrelated reasons but I honestly think it was my body taking me out of the situation.

I have a strong sense that she is this kind of boss. She won't see it - my boss never did. They think buying everyone cakes on a Friday makes them wonderful.

FloofPaws · 07/10/2024 08:41

They're hilarious when they use their children - they go on these self serving faux royal trips to dangerous countries, attend the opening of an envelope, use any microphone or camera grabbing moment they possibly can, leaving their kids alone at home ... yet apparently they can't do other things 'oh the children ... we can't leave the children' nonsense - they're dreadful parents, lock up the children, swan around the world whilst others look after them, keep them from their actual wider families ... both sides - horrible parents

Neither of them have great role models in their own parents. Whatever way you look at it, those kids are going to have an awful lot of baggage to cope with.

WondrousMoringPuertoRico · 07/10/2024 09:00

I feel very sad for this children. However traumatic or toxic Harry's childhood was with his parent's divorce and mother's subsequent tragic death - I think he would say that the relationship he had with his grandparents and his cousins were extremely valuable and worthwhile. His children have none of this and this will have a bearing on their lives - that whole rich layer and texture of familial and cultural bonds is missing. I think in family of so much historical significance this will be especially difficult as they become teenagers and adults.

Needanewname42 · 07/10/2024 09:03

I definitely think she is a horrible boss. People don't leave for nothing. In fact people are more likely to stay for poor money but a good boss than they are for fantastic money but a crap boss.

I also can't imagine someone who is a really horrible boss being a good life partner.

AskingQuestions45 · 07/10/2024 09:03

It’s such a shame they haven’t had the opportunity to get to know their cousins too. They all seem so close. Zara Tindalls kids and Eugenie and Beatrice’s kids. What a loss for them .
