What to make of the fact that he appeared without Meghan and looked quite anxious and stressed?

Oops, @CoffeeCantata beat me to it, by a long shot! Sorry, I am reading this thread arse-backwards.

@CoffeeCantata
Thanks. I haven’t seen the documentary but psychiatrists to my lay person understanding are more interested in the working of the brain so would be looking at physical indicators for a range of things including neuro diversity, mental illness etc and medicate if they deem appropriate whereas psychologists focus on areas such as mental illness.

@MummyJ12
Thank you. I see you around a lot. I have maybe read some of your posts about your ds. But I’m generally rubbish at remembering stuff as my brain doesn’t work so well. I hope your ds will be ok. Flowers

@BunnyLake
I hope your ds is ok. I’ve had deep depression, diagnosed by a clinical psychologist and I totally understand the hopelessness ableit I wasn’t suicidal. But it was like I was in a deep hole. I also from time to time wish I was no longer here. That’s so very different from what I experienced or what you’re describing. Flowers

But hasn't it come out now that Kamala has genuinely lied about her heritage?

Has she? In what way?

I have heard through a journalist (not a royal reporter though) that Meghan was overheard by a courtier saying 'This is really fucking boring. How long do we have to give it?'. They were surrounded by guests as she said it, and several turned to look at her. They were gone within 10 minutes, and I would think Harry half expected it if he knew that a courtier had heard. Have you seen the video of them leaving? It's Meghan's weird walk that makes me believe they were asked to leave.

Wow. I've seen the video of that event and it doesn't reflect well on Meghan, or Harry for being so wet with her. I knew she'd asked Harry when they could leave due to being bored (too many 'ordinary' people to have to talk to), but I didn't know she expressed herself so horribly. What a cow!

As another pp said, what would the older generation have said? Prince Philip (often criticised for being tetchy) managed to chat to ordinary people - it was professionals he tended to snap at - all his life, and he'd given up a lot more than Meghan. He passed out top of his year from Dartmouth Naval Colllege, I think, and had a seriously successful naval career before KGVI died. So, as far as the late Queen and he were concerned, she was marrying a naval officer who expected to pursue that career for perhaps another 20 years - but had it cut short by his FIL's premature death. Yet HE managed to do the job well - and it must have been incredibly frustating and demeaning sometimes for such a 'man of action' to have to attend things like Royal Garden Parties - but he did it.

I'm baffled by the people who still can't see what a tacky, nothingy, vulgar character Meghan really is.

CoffeeCantata · 30/09/2024 15:56

@Mummyoflittledragon Ah yes - you're right - there is that differentiation in their areas of interest.

I think that William and Kate are more likely to split up tbh. Neither of them seem happy in that marriage tbf.
Even if Harry and Meghan split up, he is unlikely to return to the UK.
He would stay in the US because of his children
He may even marry an unambiguous black woman . I can actually see that happening. Some of you would be spitting feathers. It would be hilarious.

Desperate stuff!

Bontonbonbon · 30/09/2024 15:59

@Alectoishome No, her father is Jamaican- American and her mother is Indian. And, more importantly, she has been a vocally proud black woman all her life. She supports rights and causes for African Americans and campaigns on those issues.

It could be argued that DoS had actively avoided being seen as at all African American until she met Harry and it became her defining feature in the eyes of her defenders (and some critics). This does appear opportunistic.

Baital · 30/09/2024 16:00

Given Kamala Harris chose to go to a historically black university, and join a a historically black sorority, I don't think she has lied about/ hidden her ethnicity.

I agree. The efforts she's clearly gone to to change her nose, and as for her strange hair - I'm ignorant/innocent of so much about these things - is it real and straightened, or are they extensions? She's worked hard, it seems to me, to obliterate he African-American heritage in terms of appearance.

But I do realise that the pernicious social/sexual/racial pressures on her in the world she chose - shallow, stereotype-bound Hollywood - to appear more 'Caucasian' will have been a factor. I get that - but even so, it makes her determination to identify as a black woman a bit suspect.

Alectoishome · 30/09/2024 16:20

Happy to be wrong about Kamala. I was of the understanding that her father was Caucasian Jamaican and that her family on his side were wealthy, middle-class Irish plantation owners with a small amount of black heritage fairly far back.

Bontonbonbon · 30/09/2024 16:40

@Alectoishome Not quite. I’m the family history he wrote (because he was quite a big deal in his own right) Kamala’s father explained that he is descended from both enslaved Africans and European planter families. This is not unusual in the Caribbean. So she is descended from both slaves and Europeans. And her mother is Indian. I’m not sure what part of her heritage you think she’s lied about.

BustingBaoBun · 30/09/2024 16:41

This will explain it all for you. Fact checking from Reuters

She hasn't lied

https://www.reuters.com/fact-check/kamala-harriss-birth-certificate-used-discredit-her-indian-jamaican-heritage-2024-08-14/

Bontonbonbon · 30/09/2024 16:44

It’s also fairly easy to look up a picture of her dad and see that he would in no way be considered anything other than black by American society, which is really the key point here.

I also echo what others have said about Meghan. It is sad that she felt the need to change herself so much to fit into a very arbitrary white beauty standard.

Uricon2 · 30/09/2024 17:02

I understand why Meghan didn't emphasise her black heritage while a working actress, it's a tough world with a lot of stereotyping and more people chasing jobs than actual jobs. I know it's been said on here a million times, but when she married Harry I saw her as nothing but an asset to the RF and that was all of her, including that heritage. I can fully believe that there was racist abuse directed at her via SM, because sadly there is still racism in society and this was abhorrent. It does not make all criticism of her words and actions racist.

Remember Meghan was given the option of continuing her acting career too.
Just the same as neither of Ann's husbands have never been 'working' royals.

She really didn't need to do garden parties and the like if she didn't want to.

I wouldn’t go rushing to PaddyPower to place a bet if I was you. Funny isn’t it we don’t actually see any evidence of William and Catherine being in an unhappy marriage at all, would love to know how you have drawn to that conclusion but I suppose if you class true luurve as gazing into someone’s eyes, physically pushing them around and grabbing them at every available opportunity all for public consumption then you would think that a normal steady 20 year plus relationship with none of that silly nonsense is doomed. As for Harry if they do split he will be on the first freedom flight to London as fast as his legs will carry him, now that is a safe bet.

Staunchlystarling · 30/09/2024 17:34

I see Harry is doing well child on his own. I guess megan didn’t want to come as it’s the uk and she’s scared of the boos. But that is something that would be right uo her street, so many photo ops.

'Spitting feathers' is when your mouth is dry and you need a drink.

If someone is angry it's 'spitting blood'.

What's hilarious about Harry getting g divorced, staying in America and marrying a poc?

I was bemused by that post as well. I think thr poster is just trying to be goady, maybe a big Harry and Megan fan and unable to have a balanced conversation

Well who said that's their true definition of love. Just you? Did they come and define what being in love for them means?

What's make you think they will split up? Because they aren't doing the same events? Let's hear your reasons then...

Manypaws · 30/09/2024 17:51

@Staunchlystarling looks like it
