Catherine's new eternity ring

Hello

Delighted to see Catherine has finished chemo and starting to go back to work. <3 So is it ok to have a "fun" thread again about her style?

In today's video I noticed this is the 2nd time she's been wearing this "new" sapphire and diamond eternity ring. Looking at the picture of her hand in the wheatfield, it looks to me like it simply replaces the Diana engagement ring. So she still wears her wedding band in its normal place, ie closest to the knuckle, then this new ring, then her original eternity ring that I think she got when Prince George was born.

The pic of her in the stripy top taken a couple of weeks ago - it looks like a gold wedding band top AND bottom with the orig and new eternity rings in the middle. So a stack of FOUR rather than three? Can't see it clearly - any thoughts?

Do we think she got the new eternity ring for their 10 yr anniversary 3 years ago? Or is it a more recent purchase?

Also added a picture of her original stack from just after Prince George was born.

I thought it wa well known Kate doesn’t wear the ring, it’s too valuable and unwieldy, it’s taken out the vault for public engagements only.

Yes I don't like it either.

I know it must have meaning for William. But really, it's an engagement ring from a miserable marriage where both parties cheated, and then they got divorced. Not an engagement ring I'd want!

I've never liked it either, too big and looking like so many cheaper version available in very cheap jewellers. I was surprised when that was the ring she got as the history of the failed marriage is still omnipresent.

Here's my ring. So pretty, deserves to be worn.

Put it on your other hand and just wear it.

I always worry with it being on my right hand that I will....ah...drop it down the toilet when I'm...ah...at the toilet....

It’s quite possible Diana liked the ring. It might signify an unhappy marriage and divorce to some but perhaps to Diana it signified a marriage that gave her two loved children. Or perhaps she just liked the bling aspect of it.

If Diana had actively made it clear she disliked the ring, I can’t see that William would have proposed with it, despite its iconic status.

If it’s too big have it resized, but it doesn’t look like it could just slip off?

GapTshirtsAreShitQualityTheseDays · 10/09/2024 21:14

@Wineandcupcakes I'm just clumsy! I think I will just start wearing it on the left hand and not care whether people think I'm engaged or not!

Yeah true point - the Diana ring symbolises the marriage that William came from.

Here's my ring. So pretty, deserves to be worn.

I wear my wedding ring from my first marriage on my right hand, because it was my late DM’s wedding ring that she gave to me (she couldn’t get it in after she broke her arm
basly). So I still wear it after my divorce (and subsequent re -marriage)😆

eta My engagement ring was bought second hand in France where I got engaged. It was too big and it slipped off in car. I thought it was lost, but I had a flat tyre and discrete had slipped under the back seat and under the spare tyre! I had it re sized and it’s fine now

My husband bought me an eternity ring for the birthday after I’d finished all the treatment and surgeries for breast cancer. He calls it my ‘thank you for not dying’ ring - although that is only between ourselves, to anyone else it was for my 50th.

I plan to buy something after my treatments finished.

I bought myself a ring for my 50th although it took me until I was 51 to get it!

SpanielPaws · 10/09/2024 21:27

I've always assumed that she only ever wears Diana's ring on public duty and not in private, so it would make sense that she's got another ring that she wears for the bulk of the time. It's far too big for her tiny hands.

DH got me a new ring for our 30th wedding anniversary - it's very different to what I had before, my taste has changed and we also had a lot more money this time round to be able to spend.

GapTshirtsAreShitQualityTheseDays · 10/09/2024 21:31

I'd like to be like Posh Spice and have ten different e-rings!

I suppose Jordan Katie Price also has about 10 different e-rings but in a totally different way!

HappyDane · 10/09/2024 21:32

Oh no I wouldn't. I think that's a very odd thing to do.

They're not engagement rings. They're just rings she/he bought to celebrate milestones.

HappyDane · 10/09/2024 21:34

I don't mean you shouldn't have as many rings as you want! Especially if they're fantasy rings 😁😁 But I beg of you please don't call them engagement rings. They're not and it's just naff...

And I'd say the same thing to Vicky! 😜

GapTshirtsAreShitQualityTheseDays · 10/09/2024 21:36

Lol, yeah they are not so much e-rings, just big fuck-off rings that she wears on her wedding finger.

If I win the euromillions I'm going to buy:

  1. an art deco ring
  2. an emerald cut diamond with a small halo
  3. a fucking TIARA!

It is certainly nice to have something to acknowledge and then celebrate getting through the absolute slog - mental, physical and emotional - that diagnosis and treatment really is.

I hope that your outcome is positive and that you enjoy wearing your chosen reward.

BeaLola · 10/09/2024 22:21

I am thinking of buying an amazing ring to say F off cancer and to remind myself I got through B it on the odd day I feel sad/worried

For those of you that have dove this or upgraded a ring etc can we have a few more pictures please gif inspiration

I don't like coloured stones but I thought this was a very pretty ring earlier.

Diana liked the ring so much she matched her eyeliner to it!

I like it but wouldn't want to wear it every day.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 11/09/2024 14:53

Diana always said she just chose the most expensive one from the tray the jeweller's brought to KP or wherever she was. It's flipping massive, isn't it? I think it probably looks better in real life as much catch the light beautifully but not one to wear every day.

I love those citrine earrings up thread 💜

GapTshirtsAreShitQualityTheseDays · 11/09/2024 15:22

I saw Diana's wedding dress in Kensington 3 years ago.

It's much nicer in real life. Nicer colour and more delicate. Lovely sparkles.

You could be right and the e-ring is nicer in real life.
