Catherine's new eternity ring

Hello

Delighted to see Catherine has finished chemo and starting to go back to work. <3 So is it ok to have a "fun" thread again about her style?

In today's video I noticed this is the 2nd time she's been wearing this "new" sapphire and diamond eternity ring. Looking at the picture of her hand in the wheatfield, it looks to me like it simply replaces the Diana engagement ring. So she still wears her wedding band in its normal place, ie closest to the knuckle, then this new ring, then her original eternity ring that I think she got when Prince George was born.

The pic of her in the stripy top taken a couple of weeks ago - it looks like a gold wedding band top AND bottom with the orig and new eternity rings in the middle. So a stack of FOUR rather than three? Can't see it clearly - any thoughts?

Do we think she got the new eternity ring for their 10 yr anniversary 3 years ago? Or is it a more recent purchase?

Also added a picture of her original stack from just after Prince George was born.

@AgathaMystery yes I read that! Apparently the nugget is very small now!

But you'd think the royals would consider that in advance and get a yellow gold e-ring so it all matches! Or mibbe that's very bougie and the upper class don't care about such minutae. In fact, the Queen's e-ring was white coloured metal so did not match the yellow gold wedding ring.

I like the late Queen's. Designed by Philip and I believe made with diamonds from one of his mother's tiaras.

I don't think they have much choice with the colour of the wedding bands if Welsh gold is still being used to make them (factcheck, it is)

Uricon2 · 10/09/2024 16:37

Sorry, no idea why pic of the Queen's engagement ring disappeared!

AgathaMystery · 10/09/2024 16:43

I LOVE the Queen’s engagement ring. It’s the best!!

Pippa's ring . I like a plain diamond

Wowee look at the size of that diamond. I imagine The Windsor’s’ Pippa would be very smug if Johnny got her that ring 🤣

My husband bought me an eternity ring for the birthday after I’d finished all the treatment and surgeries for breast cancer. He calls it my ‘thank you for not dying’ ring - although that is only between ourselves, to anyone else it was for my 50th.

Yeah QE2's e-ring was nice.
Camilla's is fucking nice!!! (Emerald cut)

I actually think Kylie Mingoue's (from her failed engagement) was one of the nicest I've seen. Not letting me upload a google image tho.

Lovely diamond too.

Camilla's my absolute favourite. I have a trilogy emerald cut e-ring, but sadly the middle stone isn't 5 carats!

Aroastdinnerisnotahumanright · 10/09/2024 18:29

Eugenie's is my favourite too, it feels personal and understated (relatively speaking).

GapTshirtsAreShitQualityTheseDays · 10/09/2024 19:55

Imagine becoming Queen and getting to try on ALLLLLL the jewels!!!!!

I wonder if Kate has tried on ALL the tiaras! I wonder if Princess Charlotte has been allowed to try any on yet!

I don't like the Diana ring - I never have and possibly Catherine doesn't either but what can you do 🤷‍♀️ It was his mother's. I imagine she wears it for official engagements but everyday she doesn't.

Yes I don't like it either.

I know it must have meaning for William. But really, it's an engagement ring from a miserable marriage where both parties cheated, and then they got divorced. Not an engagement ring I'd want!

Diana wore it a lot though, even after her divorce, so she didn’t have any issue with its past 🤷‍♀️

Toastbuttermarmaladetea · 10/09/2024 20:08

I don't like Diana's ring, not least because of all the cheap, Ratner's knock offs that became popular in the 1980s. Mine is a 2 carat, cushion cut Ceylon sapphire, almost violet in colour. Much prefer it to the very dark blue sapphires, although I think Diana's is a Ceylon sapphire too.

DillDanding · 10/09/2024 20:12

I’ve always hated Diana’s big ugly ring. I wonder if Kate would be happier to consign it to a vault. It’s not exactly a symbol of enduring love.

FuzzyDiva · 10/09/2024 20:14

I don’t like Kate’s/Diana’s ring either. It’s not to my style anyway and it has a negative association with it. I would have turned it into a necklace instead of keeping it as a ring.

I suspect that Kate sees the engagement ring as her working jewellery and considers herself to still be taking sick leave, so is effectively dressed down. I just don’t see the engagement ring as a particularly practical ring for day to day use given its value.

GapTshirtsAreShitQualityTheseDays · 10/09/2024 20:19

@smilesy Diana wore the e-ring after the divorce?!

I still have my e-ring (never got married in the end) and still love it. I feel sad that it sits in a box and always mean to start getting the wear out of it!

HappyDane · 10/09/2024 20:23

I read that it's possibly a ring she's had for a long time - apparently William got her a garnet and pearl (their birth stones) eternity ring when they were at university.

GapTshirtsAreShitQualityTheseDays · 10/09/2024 20:36

I'd LOVE to sit and go through Kate's jewellery box with her!

She wears those citrine drops from Kiki McDonagh a lot.

Yes. She did. She was obviously fond of it and not at all sentimental or superstitious about it

April is a royal month with many celebrations and anniversaries, among them the wedding anniversary of the Prince and Princess of Wales. As we continue to wish Kate well in her recovery, I'll be highlighting

Thanks @smilesy that maybe puts a new light on why W gave it to C then. If his mum was happy to continue wearing it.

Beatrice - probably the best but I've gone off baguettes . I'm very fussy 😂

I love that comment. You have gone off baguettes, I should get to be so fussy. 😁😁
