There’s now an article in People magazine saying that:

“Most people were astounded that Harry came,” one of the reported 300 attendees tells PEOPLE. “He was on remarkably good form — and you could tell he was very pleased to see everybody. And he was very pleased that he had come over.”

And

A close source suggests," Given everything that has gone on with the family's health, I suspect he wants to spend time with people. He is very close to his mother's side of the family.”

The article is credited to Simon Perry, a People journalist who also accompanied Meghan and harry to Nigeria earlier this year.

Interestingly The Sun and the Mail had requests in their initial stories urging people who had seen the brothers to get in contact with them. Seemingly, no-one has. Yet an American magazine has had a “close source” come to them for an exclusive.

The Spencers have never publicly spoken about William and Harry and their estrangement. They let their attendances at events do the talking, it seems. And it does seem a little odd that a likely congregation of some 300 royal establishment, civil service, City of London and family representatives would naturally decide that it was to an American magazine that they would speak and grant an exclusive.

How nice though that the story they gave to one of Meghan and Harry’s close journalists contacts was one that enabled Harry to burnish his reputation by using his uncle’s memorial service as a chance to make himself look good. Who could the source have been, we wonder….

The only reason any of this bothers me is because these parasites think they can still take our money for being born lucky, shaking hands and doing private deals. Sink or swim but earn your own pay and pay your own way through life. Don't expect others to pay for your lifestyle as a taxation handout.

The headline makes out he gave a speech. But no, his "emotional tribute" was just turning up! And having a jolly old time talking to other people at a memorial service to the extent that he's pleased with himself! What a completely tone deaf article. The man died, and it's all about Harry's feelings yet again.

Fellowes wasn't much of a fan of Diana iirc - she lied to him about her cooperation with Andrew Morton, leading him to tender his resignation as private secretary to the Queen (which she refused). As one of the greyest of the men in grey, I can't imagine Harry was that fond of him. I bet he had to spin quite a few of Harry's scrapes over the years.

Isn’t there a three book deal that’s yet to be completed? I thought that there was enough material for Spare2 left over? And Meghan’s supposedly writing her memoire which will presumably need to have shocking revelations à la Spare in order to generate income?
Anything these two do has to have $$$$ attached to it and I greatly suspect they’re desperate for things to exploit to their advantage. I sincerely hope Harry stays where he is, I can’t imagine how anyone in the royal family would ever trust him again.

People have been predicting a divorce for years - It's surprising the marriage has lasted this long.

The gloves will definitely be off if they do get divorced, there will be talk shows galore by Meghan.

@Getonwitit the difficulty I have is that there are always three sides, their side, the other side and the actual facts of the situation. The press have spent so much time enthusiastically trashing them and portraying the monarchy’s version as facts, who knows what’s true anymore. I’m just sick of it all and there are surely more important things to focus on like improving our education system, funding our NHS, looking after our SEN children etc to go on about them.

I have wondered how much this article edition.cnn.com/2013/07/03/health/royal-baby-appearance/index.html and ones like it may have been the foundation for the racism story. Fitting in with what Harry said, Kate could have brought it up with him pointing out that if that was what she and William got, Harry and Meghan might need to be prepared for worse?

Not racist, but trying to prepare him. Then he reported back to Meghan without this sort of article as context, and she reacts to what she has understood, but without the background to the comments.
