I hadn't read the Tom Bower book (don't know how it passed me by) but have just ordered a copy. I remember thinking how incredibly stressful the wedding et al must have been for Doria (as it would for any of us plonked in that situation) but remember a moment with her and Charles that seemed lovely, as they were leaving church.

It sounds like the RF wanted to get to know her and a shame that was not possible.

I suspect that Megahn deliberately presented herself as a vulnerable but brave Orphan Annie, alone in the world but bravely making her own way (cue: trembling lip; left eye, one tear - GO!) to tug on Harry's heartstrings in the early days of their relationship.

This is precisely my own view, @Abouttimeforanamechange, but again if Harry had any judgement he might just have wondered why he was kept well away, and if there might be another side to "my dad's being awful to me" - especially after Meghan's previous gushing about Thomas

Undoubtably her dad made mistakes too, but to many of us the calculation was obvious, as was the fact that the chances of him appearing at the wedding were always nil

Thomas Markle didn't fit the required look for the Wedding let alone anything else. No way do Meghan want him there amongst all those A list Hollywood celebrities.

@CoffeeCantata Doria wasn't completely isolated in the chapel at the wedding. She was sat next to Benita Litt (pictured with Doria in attached article), who is an "old friend" of Meghan, and whose daughters are apparently Meghan's goddaughters and were 2 of her bridesmaids. I don't know if they are still friends, if they are it's completely under the radar. Her business profile makes her look like exactly the sort of person who could have helped H&M with their various business ventures. She doesn't get a mention in the Tom Bower book, which is interesting as it's quite detailed on Meghan's background and associates.

I too have read that Meghan was keeping her mother from the RF though. I read in one of the books that William and Catherine kept asking to meet her and inviting her to tea, but were refused also.

Interesting. I've never heard of Benita Litt and she hasn't been mentioned repeatedly as one of Meghan's old pals in the way Jessica Mulroney, Lindsey Roth and others have been. Below the radar!

Interesting suggestion in that Times article - that Harry hasn't included any "updates" in the paperback edition of Spare because he's handed the more recent stuff to Meghan for her to include in her own book

No, his crimes were racially slandering minorities, hitting and attacking anyone from photographers to his own protection officers, and taking illegal drugs. All went unpunished, lucky, privileged little boy that he is. He left the royal family of his own accord and trashed his relatives in print and on film for money, trashed the UK, the UK media and the institution of the monarchy, and said he hated being a working royal. That's why people don't want him back. HTH.
