Who Killed Diana Docuseries

A new docuseries will be shown, Who Killed Diana? which will explore the circumstances surrounding the death of the Princess of Wales on August 31, 1997. It will feature rare and, in some cases, the first ever interviews with several key sources connected to Diana's death.

Who else will be watching this?

Dodi was seen as a sleazy playboy by the press. He did bring some of that on himself though - being sued by his US model fiance who he dumped and ghosted immediately after meeting Diana was never going to play in his favour in the press.

I still don't know where or when this docuseries is going to be. Am I not paying attention or was it a red herring? Anyway, channel no. 5 are doing their own version this evening - something about Di's last summer.

Pineapplesandthegovernmentandpunkrock · 31/08/2024 10:43

@upinaballoon despite the OP asking if we'll be watching it, she hasn't provided any details of where or when it will be on. The Tatler article a pp posted says it is yet to be announced where or when it will be shown, but that the production company's previous doc on Marilyn Monroe was on Netflix.

Diana was newly single having just divorced, she had split from Hasnat Khan.
Diana had the whole summer with not much to do, the boys were due to be with her for half the summer holidays, so she had plenty of time on her hands.

Sadly she made the fatal mistake of trusting the Fayeds who she had known for years. Unfortunately they had neither the knowledge, expertise or experience of dealing with security for someone like Diana.

What Diana needed was her own security not on the Fayed's payroll so they could say no to them.

France and Britain had big enquiries, many crash investigators examined everything and they all came to the same conclusion, had Diana been wearing her seat belt then she would have survived the crash.

That comes down to personnel responsibility, of the four people in that car the only one to live was wearing a seat belt.

They were supposed to stay at The Ritz that night but changed their minds. They had been using that car during the day, so if the seat belts didn't work why did they continue to use it. That is on the Fayed's.

It was a tragic accident, keep going over the same things wont change anything. There won't be any new details to come out, it won't benefit anyone, other than making money for someone somewhere.

I can't imagine that it will be beneficial to William or particularly Harry.

I't been nearly thirty years let her rest in peace.

LaMarschallin · 31/08/2024 14:45

"Who killed Diana?" is also a ridiculous title.
Nobody killed Diana - she died in a car accident.
It's tragic, but people do.

Manypaws · 31/08/2024 15:06

The title is very sensationalist

I think that's the idea! There is no "who" 🙄

Manypaws · 31/08/2024 15:10

Yes, very silly really. I wonder how her sons will feel

Nadeed · 31/08/2024 15:34

I think the lack of an initial autopsy will always mean question marks remain.

I disagree. I think they could have dotted every i and crossed every t, done everything possible and there would still be people who thought it was a cover up, inside job or she was killed.

Some people would have always thought there was more to it because they refuse to believe that someone like Diana could have died in such a bog standard manner.

Nadeed · 31/08/2024 15:48

There are people who believe way out conspiracy theories. Those people would still exist.
But in the UK an autopsy for someone who died in a car crash would be routine. Its not a small technicality. It is an absolute basic part of the investigation.

That's at the heart of it, @Procrastinates . Young, glamorous, globally famous - it's a lot for some people to understand that it was just an accident.

MagdaLenor · 31/08/2024 15:50

Plus sometimes all it needs is a misunderstanding or a misreading of something minor, and conspiracy theorists latch on to it.

Nadeed · 31/08/2024 15:51

@MagdaLenor that is so patronising.
And for the record there are famous beautiful people who die young where hardly anyone believes there is more to the death than is said publicly. So your premise is simply not true.

There was a post-mortem inspection of Diana’s body carried out the day after she died, by John Burton, former coroner of the Queen's household and Michael Burgess, the then deputy royal coroner. So I’m not sure what your concern is here?

Eh? There was an autopsy.

MagdaLenor · 31/08/2024 16:19

Hughs · 31/08/2024 16:06

Eh? There was an autopsy.

Of course there was a post mortem.
It confirmed, among other things that she wasn't pregnant, which should have put an end to that rumour.

Nadeed · 31/08/2024 16:22

The pregnancy rumour arose because in the days before her death the tabloids were reporting she was pregnant to Dodi.

Runnerinthenight · 31/08/2024 16:23

There are no "question marks". It literally couldn't be more straightforward. It is totally irrational to think otherwise.

Nadeed · 31/08/2024 16:24

Diana's body was partially embalmed before being flown to the UK. Dodi's was not. Why?

Because same as Diana, the deaths are investigated and the cause reported. Nothing to see here.

They were wrong.

Nadeed · 31/08/2024 16:28

This is a good article about Diana's death.
I think on the balance of probability, it was an accident. But I do not believe the full truth was ever released. I think there were lies told to the public e.g. why Diana's body was partly embalmed before being flown to the UK and Dodi's was not.

Dodi was Muslim.
