GB News is losing the plot!

I really don’t think there is a ‘contest’ other than in the minds of parts of the media. One brother will be King in time and the other brother wants to leave a meaningful legacy in his own right. So far both are doing a great job in carving out their own lives. I hope the brothers come to a point in time where they can be friends again. Life is too short to hold on to anger. The media doesn’t help by embroiling itself in their relationship - or lack thereof currently. I think many people in many countries would love to see a sense of family togetherness again with all of the current King’s grandchildren getting to know one another. It would show how a public facing family can overcome its own difficulties if KCIII could bring both brothers into line again. It’s time to stop painting Harry as the black sheep of the family. It hasn’t worked, it just drives more dissent and anti monarchy feeling in the younger generation. If we are to have a King William and a King George then the younger generation do need to see the institution as worth holding onto. As Harry is clearly active on the world stage harnessing his global appeal would be an advantageous move by the current King.

Are you aware, @LimeBiscuit that there is no such thing as "the UK media"? You do realise that there are different owners, journalists and editorial teams? That the UK government have no press control?
No-one is "controlled by the UK media". That's nonsense. Watch the BBC news, C4 news, itv, C5, read the Times, Independent, Guardian, Telegraph - all very different. Most, if they report at all on H it'll just be reporting their latest histrionics. Control is nonsense.
It's almost like a conspiracy theory.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 24/08/2024 10:27

I suspect a lot of posters aren’t British.

upinaballoon · 24/08/2024 10:32

The 'UK media' is like 'society' - made up of individual bits.

Toastbuttermarmaladetea · 24/08/2024 10:36

Didn’t Meghan wear a designer frock by VB on tour recently?

It was the brown shirt that ended up sweat stained, combined with some sweaty crotch bottoms that looked like pajamas. I'm sure Victoria is delighted.

PoppysAunt · 24/08/2024 10:49

That looked awful.

...and not homogeneous at all!

Not read the thread. Worrying that you thought it ever had the plot in the first place.

I follow it all. The UK media is dominated by tabloid negativity. The TV channels are pretty fair though, although they too buy into negativity when it suits them.

Their ‘plot’ - sow discord, alienate minorities, be divisive and anti Prince Harry and Meghan. They seem to have gone off script as now there is another article that is not in their usual vein. Someone upthread has shed more light on the matter - there have been complaints about GB’s agenda and biases and they are being ‘looked at’ by outside agencies.

Harry is in a situation of his own making. He left the UK to live a private life with his wife and children. All fine. Majority of people okay with that - he was doing what he felt was best for him and his family. But then he decided to sell stories on his family to make a bit of money. Because that’s what the Oprah interview was - to pull in the audiences and money he had to bring something to the table. Then he proceeded to sell a book trashing his family. Of course none of his family will touch him with the proverbial barge pole, because they worry any discussions had will be sold to the highest bidder. He’s lost everyone’s trust, and I honestly can’t see how he will win that back. Or even if he’s bothered.

Charles had a book and TV interview where he heavily criticised his family. Sophie was exposed bad mouthing the Royal Family. You would think they would be used to this by now.

Are you really interested in what GB
news does aside from “being anti Sussexes”? I think a lot more of it is problematic than that. What have the Sussexes got to do with the grand scheme things that they warrant being singled out? Unless you only want to highlight this because you are a fan 🤔

eta. Meant to add that GB News isn’t really mainstream either. I have no idea what they say on a day to day basis 🤷‍♀️

Edited

I am interested in GB News as I flitted through all the news channels during the riots. I did not like what I saw.

It's almost like a conspiracy theory.

Just three companies – DMG Media (publishers of the Daily Mail, Metro and i), News UK (the Sun and The Times) and Reach (Daily Mirror, Daily Express, Daily Star) – dominate 90% of national newspaper circulation.
Across the world the largest media companies are constantly condensing their power with little control or intervention and no obligations to act in the public interest.

You're wrong, @Nadeed .
The BBC? C4 news? Itv news?
Everything you can read online?
Honestly. All this conspiracy nonsense. Perhaps the Illuminati are involved?
The "UK media" 🙄 in whatever form, is not against Harry and Meghan. They're doing a grand job of trashing their own reputation. No help required.

You should watch the Nana Akua show! She's hilarious, but I think it's not intentional 😂

PoppysAunt · 24/08/2024 12:14

Maybe GB news are part of the "media conspiracy" 😂

LimeBiscuit · 24/08/2024 12:17

Also, I follow the press reporting styles and coverage of royals. I was sad when Harry left but I would not describe myself as a fan. Interested in his story, life and so forth yes. It’s unusual and entertaining at times. Hoping that life works out for them? Naturally. Why would I wish failure or hard times on anyone? Harry is someone who is, primarily because of unhealthy family dynamics, writing about his life and the Oprah interview, on the outs with his brother. I would like to see them together again as they were always better when together than apart. I miss that.

It’s time to stop painting Harry as the black sheep of the family.

Then Harry needs to keep his gob shut. And put his pen down.

And I don't think the brothers will ever be close again as Harry has caused too much pain and hurt. The other two royal brothers never reconnected either (King Edward VIII and King George VI).

Anyone who writes about his family the way Harry did in Spare has relinquished his right to remain a member of that family. The trust has gone completely.

I read Spare and it was not a hatchet job on his family. I came out of it liking Charles and understanding that William and Harry needed a firmer hand than Charles could deliver. When you are not prepared to support a ‘spare’ when he asks for a different model where he can both support the monarchy but be freer to earn his own money then they should not have been surprised that he will write about his life.
