Netflix deal, looking like it may be over for H&M

The rumours have been doing the rounds for a while, but Puck News now reporting it, which means it is very likely that their contract with Netflix will not be renewed.

"The streamer is not expected to renew its five-year, $100 million deal signed in 2020 with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Meghan’s passion project, the animated kids show Pearl, has already been canceled, and the unscripted cooking and polo offerings didn’t connect the way the royal couple’s Harry & Meghan did. "

Yes but they are safe there you see.... what with all the shootings

Oh my goodness. Have they no self awareness at all? It really is extraordinary.

There’s a photo on Twitter that depicts Meghan, Archie and Lilibet. Lili is the exact replica of Harry as a young child and even has the same angry expression!

She's found her voice!
Good luck H&M, especially when she's 15! 😂

CarmelaBrunella · 21/08/2024 16:31

As long as she doesn't find a copy of "Spare" before that.

She even had that look on her face the one where you want someone to shut the fuck up. Like you’re tolerating them telling you a boring story at a party.

Exactly what I thought. Inane smile accompanied by "Mmm..." noises.
Then turning away, when the lady telling her story was mid-sentence, to go "Coochy coo" ("Gucci, ooh!"?) at the babies.
I don't often follow up YouTube links and such but the reaction to this one was so strong that I was really curious.
It was appalling!
The group looked like they had been organised to all sit around and the lady speaking had obviously been asked to share her very personal story to show how the group had been so helpful and supportive to her.
First of all, Meghan sits on the floor and nobody joins her because it plainly wasn't what had been planned. Then she insists, so some women get down by her and some don't.
Then, when that lady starts bravely telling her story, Meghan couldn't have made it more obvious that didn't have the slightest interest in what she was saying.
The look of hurt and confusion on that woman's face as she tried to carry on speaking to the back of Meghan's head was heartbreaking.

StrawberryWasp · 21/08/2024 16:36

I'll be disappointed if the cooking show isn't released.

Although I won't watch it I'm enjoying the ongoing saga of their life after Megsxit, so would follow the feedback on SM.

It's astounding to me how they are managing to throw away such an advantage and opportunity.

I never wished them ill, but once thy started slagging off his family on TV, I wtached open mouthed thinking: 'how can they possibly think this will go well for them??'
Then Harry's book. Was appalling, and such a stupid move.

Do you remember him saying he would only speak to them once they apologised 😂😂

The whole thing has become a fascintaing car crash of their awfulness and stupidity. It's weirdly absorbing to follow.

The cooking show made me think: Oh God who thinks that is a good idea?? It's going to be so cringey and formulaic with Megan self congratulating herself on her wonderrfulness as she 'shops' with a wicker basket at the Montecito farmer's market.
She thinks it's aspirational, when we'll all watch cringing from behind our sofas.

It's like a reality show with cringey characters that make you wince but you keep watching and want more.

I also want ARO to launch as I cannot imagine who will buy their 'homeware'. Honestly who?? Maybe as a joke, for funny christmas presents 'I got you Megans jam. She made herself.'

I want to see how it goes.

If I'm wrong and it all goes great and M becomes a TV chef and sells recipe books and ARO is a big retailer, I won't mind, I'll just lose interest and move to a different car crash reality story to follow.

Contrast this with Camilla’s new documentary highlighting campaigns against domestic abuse

ITV to air documentary about Queen’s domestic violence campaigning

A film crew followed Camilla through the year and the 90-minute programme will be shown later in 2024.

Such a contrast. Camilla's work is genuinely valuable. It's such a difficult subject to raise and discuss.

IcedPurple · 21/08/2024 16:59

Aren't cooking shows a bit last century?

Maybe OK if you're Nigella or Jamie, but I don't see how someone with no culinary expertise could make a success of a tired formula.

I really think they have no ideas. I agree with the person who said that NF were clearly hoping for more royal related content, because that's the only thing they've done, in over 4 years, that's been a ratings success. I can't see their contract being renewed.

Meghan once dated a chef AND she used to enthuse about food on The Tig, so she's obviously very qualified to have her own cooking show 😆

Manypaws · 21/08/2024 17:01

And she makes jam... well 50 pots of it anyway

CarmelaBrunella · 21/08/2024 17:01

I so want to watch her cooking show!

Staunchlystarling · 21/08/2024 17:12

I think they will air the cooking and polo show, and people might watch due to curiosity, but won’t watch a second time, however to be fair, their other shows folks didn’t watch due to them ie invictus or the leader thing.

Their draw is purely the scandal they sell. The gossip. What mad thing will they do or say next.

No one is really interested in Megan cooking, flower arranging or talking to paid for friends, plus like the Spotify podcasts. If it’s not really famous folks or about her, she’s not going to be interested,

the shameful video above where she demonstrates she’s not interested in the woman with the hiv story, she did the same on the Spotify podcasts. Had someone else do the interviews as she wasn’t interested unless they were big names.

thr one thing I can say about our royals. Be it Charles, William, Kate or Camilla, when they work, they do it selflessly and for good causes. I can’t imagine any of them behaving as Megan does.

CarmelaBrunella · 21/08/2024 17:13

@Staunchlystarling - absolutely this.

I’ve certainly never seen the late Queen or Catherine (or even Diana) blank people mid sentence so they can have a photo of themselves taken or because they were bored. That’s incredibly rude no matter who or where you are. It’s normal for Meghan though, she has no clue. Even dim wit is more aware of these things than she is.

OtherS · 21/08/2024 17:27

I'd be interested in the polo show as I can't see how you could make a 'woke', environmentally friendly, "I'm-so-down-to-earth-just-call-me-Harry" show about polo?! I thought they didn't want people to think of them as spoilt, super-wealthy and out of touch? How can it fit into the whole dedicated to a life of service, driving cultural change to make the world a better place crap they bleat on about?

CarmelaBrunella · 21/08/2024 17:34

@OtherS - I think they are beginning to really struggle with that false image.
Harry and Meghan are very much not all those things you listed!

Actually I think that’s exactly how Megan wants to be seen, well as super wealthy and aspirational. I think the last thing she wants is to be seen as average.

I'm sceptical as to whether either show exists.

There has been no official announcement from NF. No IMDB page. No names of directors or other professionals involved. Just vague internet rumours.

NF have just announced a new Victoria Beckham documentary, even though it's a long way from being ready to stream. Yet nothing at all about these two alleged 'shows'?

BasiliskStare · 21/08/2024 19:45

@AutumnCrow - I think it was you who said this "Monkey Tennis - Oh that made me properly laugh.

And to who the PP was who suggested Harry wanted to talk to Putin or the Pope about childhood trauma - even Alan patridge would not have said that . It is beyond parody

Honestly what should the RF apologise for? Judging by the way MM shrivelled when the PoW glared at her in Windsor, she's the one who has apologies to make. Kate's face, to me, looked like she was saying 'I know what really happened'. Sophie's expression at Westminster Abbey when M was grinning like a Cheshire Cat said a similar thing to me.

Thedom · 21/08/2024 20:06

They were definitely filming something at the Sentebale polo event and the cooking show was supposedly filmed in a house they rented. But something is not adding up,, as it can't take that long from filming a reality show to airing it.

Drive to Survive, for example, is aired in February and the final race of the season is the previous November, so 4 months from filming, post production and then airing the full 10 episodes, with Xmas and NY in between.
