Netflix deal, looking like it may be over for H&M

The rumours have been doing the rounds for a while, but Puck News now reporting it, which means it is very likely that their contract with Netflix will not be renewed.

"The streamer is not expected to renew its five-year, $100 million deal signed in 2020 with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Meghan’s passion project, the animated kids show Pearl, has already been canceled, and the unscripted cooking and polo offerings didn’t connect the way the royal couple’s Harry & Meghan did. "

This idea obviously depends on him playing the Harry that we used to know and accepting… the audience laugh at him sometimes

We no longer see much of that side to Harry at all unfortunately. Much as I appreciate the palace may have played this side of him up, I do truly believe he does have that side to him rather than that being a persona he plays. The last time I can think is him juggling (very much in the background) from outside during the Melissa McCarthy video thing for Meghan’s 40th.

I think it is very easy to get bogged down in aspects of life the former, happier, younger you would be a bit baffled to see. I imagine there is an element to this with Harry.

@lemonpepperlady - that's interesting. Someone else on here indicated a very unpleasant side was apparent during Harry's army days. His dismissal of palace support has been foolish.

And allowing him to be seated on a separate table like that! I would would have been appalled at the disrespect of the VP host and would have insisted on sitting with my husband.

Meghan is a narcissist. She wanted out of the RF because she wasn't the star. This is The Meghan Show now. I don't think for a moment that these faux 'royal tours' were Harry's idea - they're hers. She's always wanted the glory, the flashbulbs and the adulation, with none of the accountability. She is separating her image from his - it started when he did Spare and she had nothing to do with its publicity. ARO is hers alone, nothing to do with him. He's just the vehicle by which she became world (in)famous.

Uricon2 · 29/08/2024 08:40

I've read things about Harry (army days, well pre Meghan) that I'm certainly not going to repeat and actually very, very much hope aren't true.

I would be interested to know what his ex army pals have been saying. Could you PM me if it’s not allowed to be on a public forum?

I think it's part of the whole raft of behaviours that he now puts down to 'unconscious bias' which Meghan has supposedly cured him of, or some such Hollywood narrative about her making him a better man. 'Yes I've changed, and I'm glad I've changed', yada yada.

But he hasn't changed at all. He's still the same, and it's actually much more obvious now.

I wonder why that’s why M keeps banging on about how ‘feminist’ he is? An attempt to put distance between him and the rumours?

CarmelaBrunella · 29/08/2024 08:45

Could be. It's also a nore modern way to present and publicise a man.

I do think that both of them just pay lip service to what is the most current trend or idea. I do t think Harry is a feminist at all. I’m not even sure Meghan is if not doesn’t benefit her (trad wife stuff for example and making a difference by wearing “an earring”)

Hilary Rose has a new column in The Times today about what should be updated in the paperback version of Spare. It's quite amusing. My favourite line is: “At Archewell,” I say to the haters, “our motto is ‘Show up, do good, cash in’.

It's an opinion, conclusion, impression, speculation. It's allowed. If it wasn't, t'internet would probably fold overnight. And your own posts suggest you comment on stuff you don't have a clue about either. Fun, isn't it.......

Another irregukar verb:
I form conclusions
You speculate
They make things up

That's funny 🤣

JSMill · 29/08/2024 11:17

@cheezncrackers you are right. It is the Megan show now. H gave up so much for her and now he's being sidelined. However I do believe she is popular with a dwindling audience. She is tenacious though and will keep fighting to cling on to fame.

Mylovelygreendress · 29/08/2024 11:26

Hilary Rose is brilliant 😂

Thankyou for that, it entertained me greatly

Toastbuttermarmaladetea · 29/08/2024 11:37

I was watching the Vintage Read last night who pointed out that there already is an extra chapter of Spare published that was not in the original hardback version. It's in the Kindle version, that the papers don't seem to have picked up on, published 4 months after QEII's death. In it, Harry describes his feelings standing in the room with his dead grandmother. Of course, he brings up his feelings about Diana.

I didn’t know about the extra chapter. That’s appalling. Can anyone give a transcript?

I love Hillary Rose. She has a book out shortly. Not sure what her beef is with the RF, but she is laugh out loud amusing 😂

Toastbuttermarmaladetea · 29/08/2024 16:14

The Times editor (former The Sun editor) is a republican, according to his former employee, Dan Wootton. Perhaps more critical pieces about the royals is the direction he's taking the paper in.

ThePoshUns · 30/08/2024 07:18

Interesting

Twistybranch · 30/08/2024 08:09

Ouch!

Some of the best bits:

Between not launching her lifestyle brand, not being invited to A-list events and not visiting the UK with her husband, where does Meghan find the time to be an international businesswoman, that is what I want to know.

Meghan would not tell the newspaper how much she put into the brand, nor what ownership percentage she now has in the company, but Cesta confirmed it was a minority stake.
So I am guessing that it was sixpence, a free jar of jam and a signed photograph of the Duke and Duchess being presented with their Golden Grifters of 2024 award.

Like all influencers — which is what she has become — Meghan always seems to be invested in the higher purpose of self-valourising while imposing her superior taste on the scabby masses for clicks and cash.

Meghan's become a pay-per-view plugger turning profile into profit

The Duchess was promoting her 'fashion portfolio', which is not a posh way of saying 'knicker drawer' but rather the small collection of female-owned brands she has 'invested in'.
