Royal family should consider paying H & M off by way of an NDA?

Harry and Meghan had difficult childhoods. I liked Diana but she was unstable, didn't see much of them and they witnessed her being unstable or with a recent boyfriend during the rare times in the holidays they saw her. They grew up in a lot of tension and under the spotlight. Not saying it was all bad but it clearly affected Harry and i think he was troubled by the time she sadly died.

He then had issues with drink and drugs which seem quite entrenched. He was sent to Africa to get him away and off drink and drugs to no avail. Then years of therapy to no avail. I suspect he may have a personality disorder which are near impossible to treat.

The palace over the years have covered up for him and done a fabulous if a little dishonest, PR job, which i think Harry owes them for, but also the palace and family situation were in many ways had some culpability for the state he was in. They kept him well under the wing of William and Kate for example.
I also feel like they sort of should have protected him more from meeting someone with not great intentions who was also damaged.

Meghan has a really strange family who don't seem that nice and Doria was apparently in prison for many years which must have been so hard. I saw a clip of her when she was about 11 and i see a child so very unhappy.
She also owes the palace who scrubbed her internet past and no doubt organised some NDS to give her a fresh start but again some blame here on the palace as this sort of now feels a bit of a cover up as i think there was rather a lot to cover up and its one thing deleting a few pictures but another to blank this woman's past completely.

Anyway the palace knew and tried their best to manage the pair of them.
They now have both of them using their titles to tour the world and take part in charity work which is really questionable.
Harry in particular is an embarrassing wrecking ball who has the publics interest.
Apparently the palace are worried about Spare 2 and God knows what else when they run out of money.
I think they are right to be worried. At the moment it is an embarrassing car crash after car crash, Africa parks, new York taxis, cringe trip to Nigeria and on and on.

I have no doubt the RF are hurt and angry with them and a NDA would be a very hard pill to swallow but if they want them to go and live quietly and stop embarrassing the royal family i think they are going to have to pay for it to the tune of a few million a year in exchange for some clear rules.

The Australian media.
Which he doesn't ever refer to with his constant criticism of the British Media.

Harry didn’t choose to leave, he was forced out because his presence in the Army was compromising other soldiers . His location was given away by the media .

That's not true.

He chose to leave when the next step in his career would have involved exams and a desk job. The location reveal happened well before that.

Fires die without oxygen, gossip and varying recollections do as well
Please let this also apply to the cottage Meghan and Harry industry of 'Royal commentators/ reporters/body lsnguage experts/lipreaders' who are making more money than they ever dreamed of out of every single movement they make. If people who say they hate them so much and want them to go away actually stop mentioning them at every opportunity, and even in things that are not about them, they would disappear. If people really thought they were irrelevant, they would disappear. They announce they are going to Colombia/Nigeria wherever. So what? Meghan selling some jam? So what? Let them be. The reason the press report on everything they do is because they know they will drive a mountain of traffic to their site. The reason they get given prizes and invited to events is because obscure prizes no one has heard of are suddenly mentioned worldwide, even if it is ' how dare Harry accept a prize he was awarded!' They are goldmine, and they are a goldmine because people who hate them are obsessed with talking about them at every opportunity.

This 👆👆 The only time I usually think about these two now is when someone who supposedly 'hates' them starts a juicy and salacious thread.. actually in the manner of an 'Eastenders family drama!'. They have become the fascinating people we love to hate 🤣 pure entertainment!

FWIW I wish them well. they are just two people living their lives, and they've both been through alot.

That’s not how I remember it. I remember him coming home on a flight and being greeted by Charles and William shortly after the reveal, obviously very upset:

I hope they do live their own lives, and stop invading others' privacy and monetising it.

Harry left the army 7 years after his location was revealed.

He could have stayed on. He chose not to.

Harry left the army because he didn't want/wasn't capable of the study and exams required to progress his career. There's plenty of work in the army other than being a front line combatant. Or, of course, he could have made it his full time life's work to support the injured/retired servicemen and women he purports to be so passionate about.

DramaLlamaBangBang · 10/08/2024 08:47

doubt that they’ll still be interested in 10 years when George, Charlotte and Louis are young adults.
Sadly I suspect the same story will play out with them as is playing out now. Already the press are labelling them ' the quiet one' t' the bossy one' ' the naughty one'. The youngest two need to be cut free in the same way the European siblings of spares have been, but I doubt it will happen. Charles is weak and I doubt William will do it, or it woukd have happened by now, when the children are young enough not to have that expectation. He loves the trappings of Royalty as much as Harry. They will be told to put up and shut up in return for cash, houses and turning up to whichever event they are told to. For the sake of the Monarchy. Every generation is apparently different, every generation is not.

Doria wasn't in jail. She was in court twice. Once to file for bankruptcy and once because her landlord was trying to evict her. The UK press obediently did not report on this, nor on the other dramas of Meghan's colourful family members, but it's not that difficult to find eg https://www.nzherald.co.nz/lifestyle/boozing-bust-ups-and-bankruptcies-meet-meghan-markles-family-prince-harry/CN5AW3CQYGEITSF5EAGI4NLH74/#google_vignette

I give Megs a lot of props for the things she's achieved despite having a difficult family background. I definitely relate to that!

Re Harry, my reading of him is as follows:

  • psychologically unstable, Cluster B personality stuff, possible learning difficulties, probably substance abuse issues, probably anger issues/Explosive Personality Disorder
  • heavily protected by Palace, stories relating to the above hushed up in UK
  • Palace was worried about the Meghan relationship, not because of racism (that's just stupid and cynical retconning) but because they suspected that the combination of the two of them would bring out the worst in Harry and play on his vulnerabilities
  • Harry was gung-ho though and steamed ahead, getting angry and aggressive when family members tried to make him think again
  • Marriage date set on very quickly by royal standards
  • Harry misread his family's concern as opposition/racism and Meg may or may not have colluded in this, hence atmosphere starts to sour
  • When Harry leaves royal fold, Palace withdraws PR support and protection. Perfectly understandable. You can't protect someone who's left The Firm because by definitition they are no longer under their sphere of protection
  • Harry is left angry and lashing out like a wasp stuck in a box. When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Harry's paranoia and rage (which are probably deeply entrenched by his childhood traumas and Cluster B personality) are the hammer in this metaphor and everything else that hoves onto his horizon (Camilla, the tabloids, the paps, Kate, William, that leftover bit of burrito in the fridge) are the nails
  • M&H have probably been in an 'us against the world' mindset for a few years, it's not a terribly healthy dynamic, and normally breaks when the more mentally well and resourceful of the couple in questions decides they've had enough...
  • ...or sometimes they just stew in a folie a deux morass forever

Very good analysis. What is a Cluster B personality disorder though?
The phrase ‘loose canon’ comes to mind.

That didn’t mean he had to leave the army altogether though, he just couldn’t be deployed in Afghanistan any longer. His problem seems to have been that he was struggling to move up the ranks from Captain and / or he didn’t want a “desk” job, which is pretty insulting to the army and its officers as they have to do a certain amount of “desking” in order for the army to run. It’s not all about running around with guns or flying helicopters

Before he got married he always talked about going to Africa to do conservation work. He could have done that, or something similar and productive.

That's not how it was reported at the time. I have read a lot about how Harry was required to take a desk job, but why? Many soldiers don't ever take desk jobs. How does anyone know he needed to take exams and needed to take a desk job?

What did he actually understand by that though? All he had known was posh safaris and camping in tents . He was photographed having killed an animal. So much for conservation.

Absolutely. I agree with you. Privileged, wealthy white man talk. However, he had the means to pursue some sort of activity there had he wanted to. Maybe it was all talk.

Yes It's all smells of White Privilege. Royal princes going to Africa and talking about ' Africa' being 'theirs' smacks of colonialism. Them going round telling poor Black people about conservation and not to have 5 children is not a good look. All the Royals kill animals. All the time.

The higher up the ranks you climb, the more admin you have to do. Officers are managers. They are responsible for their troops in all aspects of their careers. It’s not all about swinging through jungles with a knife between your teeth. He needed to take exams to progress from Captain. He would be expected to do this as you are expected to progress through the ranks both for your own development and to take on more responsibility and fulfil different roles. Someone who just stays as Captain is not being useful in doing this as they are limited in what responsibilities they have and cannot replace a more senior officer who may have retired for example

PotatoPie111 · 10/08/2024 10:08

I’m not sure even with encouragement that Harry would have been capable of any other profession. He has always given off air of being lazy. For all his issues with not being King he doesn’t seem someone who’d actually want to do the work.
Ironically William did hold down a job, he also probably would have been a better spare.

Because the requirements for officers to promote are open information.

And, assuming he did well enough the assessments (which involve group work, so it's hard to impossible to hide how you're performing) his next two jobs would definitely involve a staff (desk) job.

(I don't know if the Army has an equivalent of the RAF's specialist air crew - that's for those who are excellent pilots but a bit useless as officers, or who are so addicted to flying they don't want to do the steps required for promotion and so just keep flying. I don't think they do, but I'm not completely sure as that's not my bailiwick)

@ForGreyKoala I believe H and M PR are doing daily drops of crap about the pair as there are endless articles about them in the press here currently - creating rumours about them coming back to the UK etc. It's all nonsense and them trying to remain relevant.

The RF has all buggered off to Scotland, so this is a good time for H&M to put anything they choose to publicise Out There.

Heaven only knows they've fluffed up by making announcements that coincide unfortunately with other Royal events; they're standing well clear of that by using the summer.
