I really can’t get my knickers in a twist about two royal individuals who are doing good works and being invited to countries and to highlight an international conference that will be taking place in Colombia.

On the other hand,

Ok then start a thread about that then and stop trying to derail a thread About the talentless Mr and Mrs Grift

It's a shame that no interviewer has asked about the 40 40 birthday initiative to help women. Were any women ever helped?

Will Harry be doing a similar thing to celebrate his upcoming 40th birthday?

Wasn't there something about helping women in London with clothes for interviews ?

The movie was " Meet me at the Lake". Apparently coming to Netflix never.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 06/08/2024 11:41

Why do people persist in Andrew, affairs, long dead royals etc squirrels. Been there, done that, everyone is wise to this particular derailing tactic, it’s happened on thread after thread after thread. Posters are discussing H&M’s current and recent behaviour, all documented, most of it from their own mouths, a lot of it with potential ramifications for everyone given how uncritical much of their press/msm coverage actually is (despite their claims to the contrary); given their connections through Archewell and Aspen to governments both sides of the Atlantic, either direct or through think tanks like DEMOS, they are a much more current, urgent and important subject of discussion than debunked rumours and historical wrongdoing (which the current generation of royals should not be blamed for).

Meet me I'm so fake is probably more relevant

Absolutely, @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar - it's because they have no effective response.

You do know that the person who started that rumour retracted it ?
You do know that the person who started the rumour had been in the company of H and M shortly beforehand?
You do know that Meghan was furious that she wasn’t allowed to accompany Harry to a State Banquet as she was just his girlfriend . Instead he accompanied Rose whose husband was on official duties .
Join the dots.

Thedom · 06/08/2024 12:14

MM certainly didn't like their initiative being called 'modest', you can see how quickly the flash of anger crossed her face.

Posters online pointing out how Meghan used/ paid Chrissy Teigan to promote her jam, Chrissy who told a teenager to kill herself in a private message, a 16 year old teenager who had been groomed by a 50 year old.

[Chrissy Teigen] wouldn’t just publicly tweet about wanting me to take “a dirt nap” but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself. Things like, “I can’t wait for you to die.”

This is the type of person they like to associate with while at the same time pretending to give a shit about anything other than themselves. MM is so disengenous and her and Harry have no morals at all.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/08/2024 12:24

Was that quote from Chrissy Teigen ever proved, @Thedom?
I try not to assume, especially when it was said to be a private message - and even more if it's come from Twitter - but if that was true then it would indeed be illuminating about the company H&M choose to keep

User14March · 06/08/2024 12:24

I really think they should be using their power to promote in person support groups. One-time performative hugs don't help. People need community.

Chrissy Teigen herself confirmed it, the 'take a dirt-nap' and 'go to sleep forever' tweets from Chrissy are still online.

"the US model reflected on "the crushing weight of regret for the things I've said in the past".

Teigen published a series of tweets in May apologising to TV personality Courtney Stodden, who accused her of online bullying. Stodden accepted the apology but said it could just be an attempt to limit damage to Teigen's reputation.

Teigen said she was privately reaching out to people she'd insulted in the past, though she did not say who.

"There is simply no excuse for my past horrible tweets," wrote Teigen, who is married to singer John Legend. "I was a troll, full stop. And I am so sorry."

MM has quite the cohort of friends/acquaintances who have all been accused of and proven to be bullies

Jessica Mulroney
Ellen DeGeneres
James Cordon
Chrissy Teigen
Christopher Bouzy

not forgetting themselves

Meghan
Harry

Now, we have Serena Williams calling out/humilating a restaurant manager who explained to her that all their tables were reserved when she and her family showed up unannounced. Guess she expected other 'lesser' guests should not have their reservation honoured to allow for her and her family and their entitlement.

MummyJ12 · 06/08/2024 14:29

What a lovely group of friends @Thedom. I’ve read about Serena too today. Like you say, the sense of entitlement is staggering and again, looking for rejection like Meghan.
(I thought that very astute from Meghan’s previous employees).

Yes. More than 'something'. It's Smart Works. And she is still involved with this charity. And SmartWorks thank her, for her continued support of this worthy initiative.

elessar · 06/08/2024 14:41

The problem with a lot of these people is that it's all so superficial, all do as I say, not as I do.

M&H are perfect examples of this but they're not the only ones. So many celebrities seem to think that they should be lauded and looked up to for attending a few charity events and giving empty platitudes and speeches about doing good.

But they don't seem to think that should translate to their own behaviour. That's for the little people.

A bit like Harry's Travalyst initiative (which I'm sure must be dead in the water anyway) - he jaunts about all over the place in private jets, sustainable travel is for other people apparently.

Smart Works existed a long time before MM came along.

It’s about data harvesting, censorship and control. Under the pretence of what would be be a worthy cause. (In the hands of someone who genuinely cares and doesn’t pretend to be an expert on such matters). It’s ironic that it’s no more than a social media platform.

MummyJ12 · 06/08/2024 15:30

Re: Smart Works. I’m not entirely sure how Meghan can continue to support and be patron of a U.K. based charity when she spends no time here and refuses to even visit the U.K. How is she supporting them currently?

MummyJ12 · 06/08/2024 15:44

Also need to add that I think the question asked was, which original initiatives, or projects have they set up themselves from scratch and stayed with, that are successful in their achievements, growth and longevity?
As @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar posted, Smart Works was already developed. Meghan is the patron, it’s not her project.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/08/2024 16:10

Many thanks for the clarification, @Thedom
Willingly associating with people capable of something like this seems to me a judgement issue, but then as they've demonstrated again and again H&M don't seem to have much

I think this was an excellent project for her to be involved with and it’s true that her association with it gave it a public profile for a while. But I don’t see evidence of ongoing support. The website refers to her support involving “several private visits” which suggests the information hadn’t been updated.

roastedrapidly · 06/08/2024 17:00

Is MM swapping her British charities for American (or Nigerian/ Cambodian / Jamaican) ones now that she refuses to enter the UK for safety reasons?
