H & M announce a visit to Colombia

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announce they will visit Colombia

mol.im/a/13698271

Another country on the "Don't travel" list.

"But the UK and US governments have both issued security alerts over travelling to Colombia amid fears over crime, terrorism, civil unrest and kidnapping - and Harry's decision to visit comes amid his ongoing battle for his security when in Britain.
The UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office 'advises against all but essential travel to parts of Colombia'. And the US Department of State issued a travel advisory for Colombia stating: 'Reconsider travel due to crime and terrorism. Exercise increased caution due to civil unrest and kidnapping. Some areas have increased risk.'"

Perhaps he thinks this is the way to get his security reconsidered? Personally I'd say the opposite.
If he still had UK security I'd expect them to do a risk assessment and say "NO".
Why should security personnel be put at risk by being required to travel to these dangerous destinations.

He should get rid of the beard, too. It's always looked messy. A close no1 on the head, clean shaven and he'd look sharper and neater.

CathyorClaire · 16/08/2024 10:24

“It comes down to all of us to be able to spot the true from the fake," he said.

He certainly likes to give us lots of practice 🤓

There's nothing wrong with going bald and a lot of bald men look attractive. However, it was his ridicule of William going bald that makes people focus on it. The unkindness, and the hypocrisy.

Absolutely this. I have a bald and lovely DH (also he’s ginger). However, Harry was truly nasty about his brother, in a book that now forms part of royal history, so gets no kindness from me. Live by the sword etc.

Yes. He lives by the sword then moans and pleads victimhood.

Could go either way!

I don't think Harry has strong enough bone structure and features to pull off no.1 on top and no beard. He's very like Charles with the closer set eyes, longer nose and narrower jawline and pointed chin. I think the beard does suit him and highlights his positive facial features and covers up his negative. I'm just talking purely aestheticly.

William is more like Diana with a stronger jawline, cheekbones and bone structure so he can get away without the beard, and the loss of hair.

Gorgonemilezola · 16/08/2024 10:52

Although William does look rather nice with a beard.

Sausawyee, if Harry could match top right of those pics he would be doing verrrrry well. I wonder if they could stay out of the limelight for a couple of months while he grows a new look?

I was not aware until the publicity regarding the Sussex's visit to Columbia that the Duchess of Edinburgh visited only last November in support of women and girl victims of gender based violence, a worthy cause if ever I saw one. That wasn't all over the news, but this circus is. No wonder the real royals are reported to be a tad teed off with these pseudo royal tours.
And I wish someone would advise Meghan that when visiting tropical climes you are going to sweat, so check that the fabric you are wearing does not discolour nor become transparent when wet. Maybe also wear underarm protectors and/or use anti perspirant. That way we could have been spared the sweaty pits/waist/crotch look as displayed in that brown outfit. Harry somehow managed not to look sweaty, didn't he?

Yes, I wish the Duchess of Edinburgh's work received more coverage. Especially as she has now been working in the areas of VAWG and rape as a tool of war for many, many years and has developed credibility in the subjects

Twistybranch · 16/08/2024 11:29

Ok so how long until we have a solo international tour from meghan? This is what it’s gearing up for right?

We can see she is the one that puts herself in front and leads, doesn’t like being interrupted, wants to be the star. Harry is surplus to requirements.

We know about Diana’s famous trips to Angola about landmines etc and the images.

I think maybe a year and we will have Meghans first solo tour.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 16/08/2024 11:35

You could be right @Twistybranch

Harry is a real spare now. I wonder if he realises and if he does how he feels about it?

He really is. There’s no point in him being there, he must know that.

that.

Coupled with the unholy fuss about the POW’s photoshop stuff and yet no mention at all of the mysterious luxuriant hair on both H&M in various photo shoots.

Hair or not - it doesn’t matter. It is what it is. But if you are going to tip the snarky hat at another re lack of hair?

Don’t be surprised if that titfer gets tipped at thee.

Noone is interested in reading about it though as evidenced her you see plenty.of threads with 99% of comments about clothes, hair, holding hands, whatbthey said or didn't say, their facial expressions, creates in clothes, sweaty faves, how much money they have or don't have and ao on

That's what sells and is clickbait articles for papers that people will click on. Blame the people who keep doing that

MummyJ12 · 16/08/2024 11:41

Actually the tour had no headlines in any of the papers today. Only photos on three of the front pages with stories further in.

Their star is waning. Notoriety is not the same as popularity.

Their pictures are always - shall we say - "enhanced". Criticisms of Kate altering the Mother's Day image? Very hypocritical of people who constantly use Photoshop.

GotATextInColombia · 16/08/2024 11:45

EdithWeston

I completely agree about the Duchess of Edinburgh.

The no fuss, no fanfare seems to work for her and those she visits.

In a way it is probably preferable for all involved.

It shows it is entirely possible to do though.

Announcements and publicity really aren’t necessary as those who are meant to be seen already know they are to be seen.

Unlike recent events. I do feel it is less about issues and people and more about the pair of them.

And increasingly, just about one of them.

I strongly suspect that H is being used to open doors and to get the fuss and fluffing.

He is just looking like the infamous prick at a wedding.

You know, the spare one.

OlympicWomen · 16/08/2024 11:57

That's because Sophie doesn't make it all about her.
It's about the causes. That's what the difference is between being a celebrity, and being royal.

GotATextInColombia · 16/08/2024 12:13

I agree Olympic

She just quietly gets on with it.

Admirable.

As mentioned upthread - this is but a celebrity tour. Fine in and of itself.

There is no denying it is being dressed up as something else though and therein lies the problem.

I am increasingly convinced it is more about a relevant brand rather than people or issues.

Again? Fine.

But I’d have a lot more respect for it then if honesty was in play, because at the moment they are only reinforcing the grifter comments.

Hughs · 16/08/2024 12:16

I think that's it - Sophie doesn't need endless coverage because the measure of success for her is not the amount of attention she gets. She has a longer term role and purpose in life as a working royal beyond an individual visit or project, so doesn't need to generate interest or income by changing outfits several times a day and using good causes and people less fortunate than herself as a way of getting attention in the papers.

Sandwichgen · 16/08/2024 12:23

How must Harry feel? First spare to his brother, and now to his wife,

and still stuck on ‘royal’ tours, under the spotlight (well, at the side of the spotlight):but surely escaping that was the whole point of leaving the royal family?

he’s just joined a different , infinitely less dignified ‘royal’ family, it seems to me, headed by his wife

Wasn’t Meghan supposed to be his saviour from all that? That was my take from Spare. She’s just helped him into the same box, but smaller and lonelier, it seems to
me.

Sandwichgen · 16/08/2024 12:26

I do t suppose either of them intended this sort of life, but what else can they do?
