Harry Says His Fight Against Tabloids Is a 'Central Piece' of Rift with the Royal Family

Is there anyone in the public eye more delusional and lacking in self-awareness than Harry?

The Duke of Sussex, 39, sat down for a new interview for ITV's documentary Tabloids on Trial, premiering on Thursday, July 25. In a preview released a day before the airing, Harry discussed his reasons for publicly pursuing lawsuits against publications over allegations of phone hacking and other unlawful acts — a contrast from his brother, Prince William, who reportedly quietly received a "very large sum of money" in a settlement from News Group Newspapers (NGN) in 2020 amid a claimed "secret agreement" with the royals.
ITV's Rebecca Barry asked Prince Harry in the clip, "To what extent do you think your determination to fight the tabloids destroyed the relationship with your family?"
"I think that's certainly a central piece to it," the Duke of Sussex replied. "That's a hard question to answer because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press."
"I've made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done. It would be nice if we did it as a family," he continued. "I believe that, again, from a service standpoint and when you're in a public role, that these are the things that we should be doing for the greater good. But I'm doing this for my reasons."

Prince Harry Takes Aim at Tabloid Phone Hacking in New Sit-Down Interview for Documentary

" parents have to be first responders " what is he even saying?

I think her face tells a story. She doesn’t look happy. All the clinging and pouting and posing seems to be gone.

salem4cuddles · 01/08/2024 19:54

It's that moment when you kick your husband under the table

Basically don’t do a Harry and drag them to the Albert Hall if your children confide their difficulties it probably a better option to seek medical intervention

ThePoshUns · 01/08/2024 19:58

Maybe they need to stock up?

salem4cuddles · 01/08/2024 19:59

I feel desperately sorry for the parents whose children have committed suicide, every one of them must wish they had had an opportunity to intervene, it's a deeply insensitive statement

SilkFloss · 01/08/2024 20:27

"He didn't want to leave but circumstances were such that he felt he had little choice."

I think the "circumstances" were that Meghan was leaving come-what-may (and taking Archie). He either went with her or lose his marriage (and child, effectively).

masomenos · 01/08/2024 20:35

Parents have to be first responders? Do they really, Harry?? That must have been why the human race died out millennia ago: parents were just leaving their children to fend for themselves in the hope that gorillas and humpback whales would tend to them in an emergency.

What a fucking tool. He’s been a parent for 5 minutes, has totally dysfunctional relationships with every single family member and is seeking to preach to everyone else how to raise healthy children. He really should do himself a favour and stfu because everything he says shows him up to be a totally ignorant fool.

I like Meghan’s shirt. Lovely blush pink.

Hear, hear!

As a parent who has a ND teenager who struggles on a daily basis with generalised anxiety disorder, depression and has episodes of suicidal ideation, which has at times been made so much worse by bullying on social media, I find it extremely patronising. It seems performative and for no one’s benefit other than their own.

They don’t seem to thoroughly research anything, they just throw themselves into complex issues such as this and they don’t have a clue. They aren’t highly trained professionals, so how do they think they can help support parents? What can they offer? Nothing but superficial word salad.

I’ll stick with our support from CAMHS thanks.

BruFord · 01/08/2024 21:08

@masomenos It’ll be interesting to see how he copes if one of his children needs support or simply goes through an awkward teenager stage where they view their parents as old buffers who don’t know anything.

salem4cuddles · 01/08/2024 21:13

I'm always wary of do gooders who tell everyone how they want to save the world but actually treat those closest to them like shit

BruFord · 01/08/2024 21:24

Quite @salem4cuddles !

I’m sorry to hear that @MummyJ12 that must be really tough, the last thing you want to hear is some patronising pampered prince preaching as if he’s the Oracle on children’s mental health when in fact he knows the square root of fuck all.

What about partners being 'first responders' Harry? Double standards much! He hasn't got a fucking clue.

I'm sorry you are going through this MummyJ12, and I hope that CAMHS are supportive. My family member didn't have a particularly positive experience with them.

M&H need to stfu on subjects they know absolutely nothing about!

Nosummerontheagenda · 02/08/2024 08:38

I genuinely don’t understand why Harry and Meghan are given a platform to talk about anything really. Why did they do this interview, what was it for? Who needs to hear it? They’re of absolutely no consequence. Why would anyone in Columbia want to hear their witterings either?

They're Royal. He's the son of Diana and the son of the King. That's their selling point. They can merchandise that - they've kind of morphed into general celebrity lifestyle now, but if people will pay, they'll sell.

I'm sorry for your struggles, and so many parents have experienced the same or similar. My experience wasn't quite as severe, but it's absolute hell as a parent. No, you don't need clueless celebrities who can't even manage themselves. As you say, you need a fully funded CAMHS and school support.
I hope things are getting better for you. It's unbelievably tough. 💐

They are doing this interview for one simple reason: censorship. If the line they are taking is that parents are unable to spot their children’s mental health issues, and neither can “first responders”, and if this “crisis” they are asserting as fact stems from the internet and SM, what is the logical conclusion? That the state must step in and do the regulation for them. Starting with abolishing/severely curtailing the First Amendment, and then forcing SM companies to regulate their platforms according to the values and interests of people like H&M, relegating everything they don’t agree with as “hate speech”. It’s Aspen Institute primary agenda 101.

EmpressOfTheThread · 02/08/2024 09:10

@Theinflictuswithrictusgames - so are you saying that they're against the First Amendment, and are in favour of censorship?
I don't understand the Aspen reference.

Well Harry did go on a podcast and call the first amendment bonkers.

Twistybranch · 02/08/2024 09:16

I don’t think anyone knows for certain what visa he is on
