I always think some facial expressions are quite telling.

Plenty of insiders chatting about legendary arguments about surfers and bodyguards too.

What flies then? Mane hair fibre cans and jam jars?

“He appears to be the best husband and father he can be: forming a happy, united, loving family. Katherine appears to be the best choice that William could ever have made for both a wife and the mother of his children - she's stepped into the role and represents her husband, family and country to a praise-worthy standard.”

You’ve no real way of knowing that.

That’s why the word “appears” was used, I presume.

Tired of all this saintly Catherine stuff. She comes across as rather dull and not the brightest of bulbs even if she went to Uni. She also tries so hard to appear more than she actually is. It just gives rise to that artificial stiffness and the weird facial expressions she is prone to. Scrubs up well but who wouldn’t with the wealth at her husband’s disposal. Stepford wife material for the royalist propaganda machine. Plenty of insiders have talked in the past about how she and boring William would not speak for weeks and throw pillows at one another when arguing.

Calling women step-ford wives is anti-feminist
and jelly. Don’t be jelly. Be Jam.

Polls are common on Mumsnet.
I've never seen one Shock

AliceOlive · 22/07/2024 01:01

Stepford wives definitely do not throw pillows.
Or is it throw throw pillows? I’m not sure, maybe they teach this at Uni?

True. A Stepford Wife wouldn’t pull odd expressions, come across as dull (weren’t they all sexy and vivacious) and certainly wouldn’t argue with her husband. I guess she must be human after all and doesn’t need to cosplay a normal marriage.

What is Meghan’s excuse for her weird facial expressions then? Because she looks like a malfunctioning robot in that video and it’s really disturbing.

SkelpMaArseAndCallMeLittleBetty · 22/07/2024 01:23

Too much jam?

IAmATorturedPoet · 22/07/2024 01:28

Loathe all the freeloading, chinless twats. Offspring of Andrew and pointless wife make me particularly shudder / heave but we'll leave them well alone to enjoy their grace and favour apartments in St James Palace / Windsor plus any additional Skiing lodges and other properties graciously accepted from dubious sources via a few holding companies. How odd that the mistress who was never to be allowed the title of Queen - but to be given the sobriquet 'Consort' which definitely signals more to bed wench - is now, Queen. I shouldn't give a toss but I do swallow back the bile when I see her wearing previous wife's jewellery. However, patience of a Saint etc to put up with BOY wonder.

dottiehens · 22/07/2024 07:41

I like them as they are a good positive force. They cost very little and are a great asset. Meaning people complain about how much they cost and the real cost is supporting the huge benefits bill for the real parasites. You are getting a bargain but jealousy and ideology get the most of some people. Without the monarchy the U.K. is like any other average country. Even more so after Brexit.

SkelpMaArseAndCallMeLittleBetty · 22/07/2024 09:13

Camilla is twice the Queen that Diana would ever have been.

Normal folks don’t swallow bile.

That suggests that the internal plumbing of some may be amiss.

SkelpMaArseAndCallMeLittleBetty · 22/07/2024 09:18

And calling a woman a bed wench?

Not a term I’ve heard before so I can only assume you are more familiar with the concept than the rest of us.

I’m sorry that you are in that position.

KatyaKabanova · 22/07/2024 09:26

I don't understand why such a horrible term - "bed wench", I can't believe anyone would say that about Camilla?
Also, Queen isn't her "soubriquet". It's her title. Legally.

SkelpMaArseAndCallMeLittleBetty · 22/07/2024 09:30

I assume that it is only someone trying to be edgy.

There’s nowt as edgy as paragraphs I find.

All wives of Kings are “Queen consort”. It’s just that by convention we shorten that to “Queen”. As in King and Queen. Which we have had lots of before the late Queen who was known as such because she reigned in her own right. But this has all been said before many times on here.

Queen Victoria’s husband Albert was the Prince Consort. Did that make him a bed wench?

Very good point.

Queen Diana would have been queen consort also had they stayed together.

The Queen mum was a queen consort also.

Prince Philip was a consort.

Catherine will be queen consort.

The only person who gets the title of "King" and "Queen" are the hereditary monarch. Kings outrank queens, which is why the husband of a queen who is the hereditary monarch will not be given the title of king.

On another point, when has Camilla ever worn Diana's jewelry? Her personal jewels went to her sons and presumably her sisters, so how would Camilla get hold them? Anything Diana wore from the royal collection were not hers. I will be amazed if Camilla has worn anything from the royal collection that Diana wore in one of her iconic appearances, but happy to be corrected.
