Sussex Whiplash

ConstantGarden1 · 17/07/2024 23:14

Sometimes, all the different media outlets who purport to know the inner workings of all things Sussex can give me whiplash. One moment the Sussex duo are on the outs with everyone, hemorrhaging or devoid of influential friends, making no headway with Netflix, losing money, can’t afford their mortgage and claimed to no longer be relevant. Then Suits saw an upsurge in viewers - fantastic ratings on Netflix, the BBC buys Suits, Invictus is being promoted via Harry’s award and trips, he receives a heartfelt standing ovation, Meghan finishes filming a new Netflix series purportedly linked to a nascent commercial venture and a new podcast is set for next year.

‘Lonely’ Harry, as some will insist on writing, is also not something that rings true for me. He has too much charisma, energy, interests, causes and is a people person. I also cannot think of anyone who needs to say I am friends with x, y, and z on a regular basis for the benefit or not of strangers. We don’t know who they are friends with, really. Meanwhile, pundits continue to engage those interested in the couple with whatever they can attributing the information to some made up mysterious ‘sources’. I suspect their real friends are quietly keeping their own counsel. Especially, now they have seen the mutual pathological loathing that Harry and the tabloids have towards one another. Can’t say I blame them either.

Now there is this:

Frank A. Bennack, Jr., Chairman, Maureen J. Reidy, President & CEO

and

Tribute Chairs

Ariel Emanuel, Jon Feltheimer, Whoopi Goldberg, Taraji P. Henson, Matt Johnson, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Gayle King, Debra L. Lee, Mellody Hobson and George Lucas, Scott Mills, The Honorable Nicole Avant and Ted Sarandos, Kerry Washington, Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex

Invite You to

Cocktail Reception 6:30 pm
Dinner & Program 7:30 pm

The Beverly Wilshire Hotel
9500 Wilshire Blvd. Beverly Hills, CA 90212
Cocktail Attire

Considering Whoopi G had less than favourable words for the couple I’d like to have been a fly on the wall at any meetings held. No doubt ‘netizens’ will have their microscopes to the ready to give us all their ‘insights’ regarding the events of the evening. No doubt I’ll get whiplash again when all their combined fingers hit the keyboards.

who continue to use him and Meghan to shore up their declining popularity even in the UK (the Republic protesters grow in numbers with each major BRF appearance, check out the turnout at the recent Kings speech)

I believe it was @Serenster upthread who pointed out how this dumb take shows a real lack of understanding of the constitutional role of the monarch. The King's Speech is not a public event for the crowds to turn out for. You would be better off looking at Trooping which had the usual turnout.

And check out the latest numbers on the steadily declining support for the British monarchy.

That's super but Harry and Meghan are less popular than every RF member in the polls except Andrew. Even Camilla is more popular than them. The RF as a whole polls 48% favourable, Harry 28% and Meghan 23%.

48% say Charles is doing a good job, 11% bad job.

62% say they think William will do a good job, 8% bad job.

According to Ipsos, "attitudes towards the Royal Family are stable over time". In short, your post is a nonsense.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 19/07/2024 22:21

Thank you @Hughs and @Serenster . The King’s speech and his journey to the opening of parliament is not a bloody film premier. Saying over and over that our centuries old constitutional process is a popularity contrast does not diminish the idiocy of the idea. If this is all Republic have, long will they be standing on street corners with their blank pieces of paper looking like saddos.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 19/07/2024 22:24

Do you think it will be ok if the Palace releases its files on Harry to give their side of the way he was treated?

Can you imagine? the fans on here would go apoplectic with cries of invasion of privacy. One day these files will be released much like the Duke and Duchess of Windsor files, it’s just a matter of time……(once William is on the throne).

ConstantGarden1 · 19/07/2024 22:25

“Do you think it will be ok if the Palace releases its files on Harry to give their side of the way he was treated?”

Definitely. I am also a great believer in family therapy and if ever there was a family who needed it - they are it. Harry and William and their father. All so sad. My heart goes out to KCIII as he is caught between a rock and a hard place regarding his sons. I hope he is finding some happiness and peace. I believe that the king is a genuinely kind and philanthropic human being who spoke up before many others about important issues. I also think he is quite a good King, even if challenged by a pen when grieving for his mother and being rather curt to an aide regarding Camilla’s raincoat problem. I’m glad he has the woman he loves by his side. I still remember watching their blessing in church and it was lovely. Camilla looked fabulous.

I think this lady is always well researched. Oprah was a done deal long before they left.

This is another excellent podcaster, she is a Lawyer and has served in the military, she is very well researched and certainly knows her stuff

BigWillyLittleTodger · 19/07/2024 22:30

Her Channel is called Lost Beyond Pluto.

I really like her videos (although not so much the ones with her bf). The latest series she is doing on the Windsor files and the contemporary parallels is very good.

@ConstantGarden1 How do you know that William and Charles aren't having therapy? You don't know because they don't talk about private things, and certainly not for money or personal promotion.
That's the difference. Harry has spoken, and written, and nauseum, full of negativity, bile and self pity, always blaming his family, in the most vile ways. William and Charles just get on with the job and rise above the greed and lies of the Sussexes. I'll be honest, I never had much time for Charles but he's risen in my estimation because of all this. Imagine your own son making money from invading your privacy.

Damning the Royals with faint praise 🙄

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 19/07/2024 22:37

I would really recommend The Vintage Read wholeheartedly. She’s thinking of writing a book of her research into the real origins of the H&M relationship ( well before the official version) and when the online attacks against Catherine began in tandem.

Yes they are excellent aren’t they, I also prefer her stand alone videos than the ones with her partner though it’s interesting to get his perspective.

Great stuff. The alleged violent attacks on women? The extensive drug taking? The stuff he got up to whilst in the army? You’re happy for that to be aired if it’s true? And all the other rumours post relationship and post marriage? Happy for the truth to come out? I would be really happy to hear whether there’s any truth to all those rumours once and for all.

As William and Catherine founded Heads Together, Catherine is well aware of mental health issues through her closeness to her brother, and Charles has been open about his own struggles, I doubt any of them are not seeking the help they need - I imagine they have been doing this for years, just like Harry followed his brother’s advice many years ago and sought help for himself, resulting in therapy on speed dial. The royals seem close and mutually supportive. I don’t see them flailing around for support, quite the opposite.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 19/07/2024 22:51

And other physical attacks, he is a disgrace.

Family therapy where all three of them are together with a therapist. It can be very helpful.

Gorgonemilezola · 19/07/2024 22:52

'He did not slag them off. He explained how they treated him'

Or how he treated them - brother not marrying for love, sister in law the devil incarnate because she didn't share a lip gloss. Step mother, well his description of Camilla is cruel - a bit like his description of a disabled woman.

He’s been the victim of a malignant narcissist so I think he has a valuable contribution in their discussions on the effect of that dynamic . I just love her curated takes on the issues, drawing from historical evidence and legal material. And she is so beautiful and well dressed!

Agree her videos are so cleverly done and yes she has it all, brains, beauty and still only in her twenties!

Gorgonemilezola · 19/07/2024 23:02

'The sad aspect is that they fell at the first hurdle when it came to Harry’s new relationship. Considering mental health advocacy is incredibly important to H and M I find that I no longer buy in to anything the heir might say on that subject. If he truly cared he would show it now and always.'

So, how do you feel about Harry and Meghan trumpeting anti bullying and mental health awareness messages while supporting the Sussex Squed who gave been totally abhorrent in their abuse of the Princess of Wales? Or is it one rule for Harry and Meghan and a different rule for everyone else?

The Royal Family generally do not comment on personal attacks. What made Meghan so very special that she warranted a different approach? There were many concessions made for her and Harry's relationship that hadn't been made for any previous relationships, yet still they complained.

How do you know they haven't tried? William and Charles may have made every effort.
Although probably they fear that private therapy sessions would end up in Spare 2, or some wretched Netflix series. $$$$ for the Sussexes. As per.

Hello @smilesy

Tis always the way…

TheRecollectionOfTheGhostsMayVary8 · 19/07/2024 23:19

As for counselling?

Group counselling would be a mistake. A grave error.

As one of the group is known for bleating to anyone who will listen, either for attention or the dollar, I feel it would be most unwise.

Sometimes you can go too far.

Sussex Whiplash
IsoldeWagner · 19/07/2024 23:28

Indeed! Can you imagine?!
Charles : "Harry, do you want a cup of tea?"
Spare 2: "Pa wanted to rub in my move to the USA by emphasising the traditional English beverage. He held the teapot to pour it. . I wanted to cry because I like pouring tea. Also there were none of my favourite biscuits as usual because everyone hates me and I've had such a terrible life and Pa is mean and William is a bully and........"

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 19/07/2024 23:38

Nobody should enter therapy with their abuser. Harry is an abuser of his family, along with his wife and their flying monkeys.
