Mary Tillman says " There are recipients far more fitting. He publicly disrespected his family , ran away from service to his country. He is unworthy of this award"

She feels there are recipients far more fitting.

I think she speaks for many.

I was browsing on Twitter and there is a lot of stuff about the Foundationand it all reminded me of the Captain Tom fiasco .
I feel for Pat Tillman’s Mum .

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 10/07/2024 09:58

@Mylovelygreendress . As soon as I read Marie Tillman’s blurb about herself as chair of TPTF, I got Captain Tom vibes. That was before all the information that has come out about their use of the majority of their funds on staff costs, as set out in your previous posts. I wonder if they are yet another product of Delaware’s charity laws.

I have also seen suggestion that Archewell made a large donation to TPTF, and that Marie Tillman is involved in the governance of Better Up. I haven’t been able to check the veracity of these claims yet. But the “pay to play” suggestion seems to be a recurring theme where the Sussexes and awards are involved.

If the Sussexes do nothing else worthy in life, they have helped to shine a light on the nefarious practices of award giving, the activities of so called charitable foundations and celebrities using real people who are suffering to raise their own profiles.

But I do like your phrase "pot hunter"

Thank you.

The phrase comes from old-fashioned pony books (eg the Pony for Jean series) and refers to the sort of rider who is going all out for rosettes, irrespective of fair play and equestrianism, or effect on the ponies

Does he not even write his own speeches? So really he’s just a walking ventriloquists dummy.

I see it now 😂 whose hand is up him?

I'd dread to think what his speeches would sound like if he wrote his own.
They just be a list of how awful his life has been 🥱

That's more of less the just of them already. He manages to shoe horn his mother into nearly everything for a start.

Yes, I instantly thought of Ruby Ferguson's 'Jill' series!

' ... the fact his award nomination is getting so much backlash from Americans speaks volumes about how badly his brand is faring in his new home. The novelty of the newlyfleds, it seems, has worn off; America is growing tired of the Sussexes. And while Harry and Meghan are used to bad press by now, sources told the Telegraph that the fact this bout of criticism relates to Harry’s military record, of which he is very proud, is “a particularly bitter pill to swallow”. Still, rumour has it Meghan might be releasing a rosé wine soon. Perhaps Harry can wash it down with that.'

Wow. From Arwa Mahdawi, Guardian columnist.

Drink up: Meghan Markle is expected to release a rosé wine as part of her luxury brand

The Duchess of Sussex has so far shared jam and dog biscuits to promote her not quite launched brand American Riviera Orchard

Indeed. Such a sea change from them.

ThePoshUns · 10/07/2024 17:37

The 'newlyfleds' 😄

TheFirmBiscuit · 10/07/2024 19:00

Congratulations to the Duke of Sussex - all the haters do is feed the beast of the voracious media and in doing so ensure their continued popularity and sucess. Meanwhile back at the ranch the BRF award each other medals and titles that are going spare to give the illusion that they are actually doing something useful and necessary for the country and looks good on their bloated chests when they do the 'job'. Prince Edward's Ruritarian uniform positively groans under the weight of them all no doubt well deserved.

Nothing whatsoever to do with Harry. No hate on here, just commenting with plenty of evidence.
You can't find any reason for Harry to get the award, otherwise you wouldn't be scrambling around to find some sort of equivalency, and failing.

AliceOlive · 10/07/2024 19:09

Who are the haters?

No idea. Perhaps the Guardian journalist who had the temerity to criticise Harry and Meghan?

TheFirmBiscuit · 10/07/2024 19:15

On first glance he's getting it for his sterling work on Invictus which only the most cynical could doubt his devotion to the cause. I'm sure he hasn't sought this out and ESPN are most probably using it for their own publicity which is undoubtedly working, and that should be the end of it. The rest to me at least appears to be the background noise of knives sharpening for other reasons.

IsoldeWagner · 10/07/2024 19:17

Read what Pat Tillman's mother said.
Have a look at who else has received it.
Harry is not a worthy recipient of this prize.

What sterling work? He set it up many years ago with the help of a team of people. He rocks up at the games which his wife seems to have turned in to an excuse for a fashion show and he went to the memorial service. Invictus operates on a day to day basis without any input from Harry, and does lots of other work besides just holding the games. The people who do all that work should be the ones being recognised, don’t you think?

TheFirmBiscuit · 10/07/2024 19:28

I like the writer she is outraged as we all should be about Gaza and is generally "right on" with her takes. That said she seems to punt an ocassional anti H&M line most probably as a symbol of our empty, souless culture and the vapid cult of celebrity. Probably gets clicks as well - she has to eat after all.

This is from March when the jam was launched but there hasn't been anything new to report on that front?

It's not much of a justification for an undeserved honour for Harry - sometimes people criticise him?.

Well the same could be said for any royal "working" or not.
