Looks like William took George and Charlotte to see Taylor Swift for his birthday. Looks like Taylor was just as happy to meet them as they were to meet her.

Charlotte is like William’s doppelgänger. I’ve never seen 2 faces more alike

smilesy · 22/06/2024 19:19

We have many officers employed just as royal protection officers.

That is as well as regular police. Not instead
of. The Met is suffering generally form a shortage of officers. This is not because some have them have decided to join Special Protection. So I can’t see how that is relevant to anything

eta. Special Protection spend a lot of time looking after politicians and other VIP’s. Not just the Royals

@Mrsjayy @Runnerinthenight I love taylor personally, but the songs have a lot of themes about sex and some swearing.

swoons

eg football.
You should see the numbers when it's match day in my town.

The police who escort the royals are specially trained elite officers. They're not going to be the ones you call to move on the yobs hanging around outside your house.

There are lots of reasons to criticise the monarchy, but some of the stuff here is just really petty and silly. You'd almost start to wonder if it's the monarchy that bothers them, or do they just prefer certain royals over other royals?

Uricon2 · 22/06/2024 19:20

TS not appropriate for pre teens. Really. Be careful, you'll have shedload of little Swifties after you like the first form at St Trinians on the rampage!

RocketsMagnificent7 · 22/06/2024 19:21

Every single league club in the country has a full-time football officer, whose job is solely based around policing matches, including internationals (they do some community liaison etc but all football related).

There's a series on channel 4, my OH was watching as our local team was featured. I got sucked in.

Well, quite. I suspect the very royal royals are lauded.

Pedallleur · 22/06/2024 19:22

I haven't seen anything from that show that would offend. The costumes Swift has are just glittery show outfits with no boobs or bum cheeks out, dancers tights, no bumping, grinding, overt sexual stuff, swearing etc. A crop top and a short glittery skirt. See more flesh in town on Saturday afternoon. Foo Fighters are a swear fest, well Dave is! Taylors show is spectacular and that's what a preteen would see. My daughter (14) would just lose her mind with the songs and the dancing

he has the time/energy/fitness to leverage his position as Prince of Wales to get prime tickets to an England football match

Or it might be because he is the President of the FA.

So that is in fact 'work' for him.

He’s a figure head, he does no actual work for them, beyond shaking hands and the odd photo and going to the cup final.

Not so. Have a listen to the Harry Kane and Peter Crouch podcasts.

I just don't know why people post stuff with zero evidence and apparently no understanding. It's all over this thread.

I meant the lyrics and themes of the songs (which I adore, but I'm not a child so it's relatively ok.)

DelectableMe · 22/06/2024 19:27

Oh my goodness, such a lot of straws being clutched.

What's your point?

The poster said that William used his position to get a free ticket to the match when he should be 'working'. In fact attending the match was work for him, and given how dull and dreary it was, I would say it was indeed work!

King Frederick of Denmark was also there with his daughter, and King Felipe attended the Spain match later that day. So attendance at the national team's games is indeed part of the role of a senior royal, without even taking into account William's position as FA President.

So again, what's your point?

You’re on a wind up with a user name like that 😂

I'm genuinely not. I saw Little Mix and I was shocked how many kids were there. Grin But maybe I was brought up strangely in that regard (I don't think so though.)

These are lovely all the smiles genuine , I like Taylor and you can tell the kids were really over the moon :)

I think the photos are nice, and I'm glad they all are having a blast.

I don't think they needed to publish the pictures though - it just does rub it in a little bit - the 'haves' and 'have-nots'. What was the point in publishing these pictures - to boost the RF or to boost TS? Neither really needs the publicity, surely?

For those who couldn't get tickets to the concert (like me and my 10-year old who has been crying every time she sees something on the TV about TS or her concert), it's poor form. Builds resilience, yes - but shows that the special people can do what they want, when they want - and the rest of us cannot.

At least if they didn't publish the photos, we could have avoided another episode of sadness here.

How exactly? There were 80+ thousand people there last night right? About the same amount each night for the whole London run. We saw her in Edinburgh with something like 73,000 other people on just one of the three nights she did there. The tour has been going on for over a year and doesn’t end until December. It isn’t only just princesses who have attended, every social media platform is full of people posting pictures and video from the concert. How does just seeing the royals attending make your daughter upset?

Teddybearpicniccelebration · 22/06/2024 19:37

You don't think Taylor swift is appropriate for pre teens ?

I met some young girls doing the Taylor Trail in Liverpool and they looked around the same age as Charlotte (7-ish maybe, terrible at guessing ages) and most said they said they were quite scared during Who's Afraid of Little Old Me. I don't think the show is inappropriate for little children, but it's also not designed for them either. One of the girls had to leave because she found it too long and loud. Though I guess the royal kids are less likely to be perturbed by crowds than another seven year old.

Especially as Charlotte is 9.
