Looks like William took George and Charlotte to see Taylor Swift for his birthday. Looks like Taylor was just as happy to meet them as they were to meet her.

@CheeseWisely while it's not the same as standing in the crowd there will be a lot of people they have come into contact with in the process. At the football match he was shown walking through a public area (while guarded) and chatting with many various people. Taylor is certainly not shielding, going to the show and just watching from a box could be somewhat 'safe' but these meet and greets will expose people. When I saw Taylor only a week ago she was clearly suffering from a cold, blowing her nose multiple times throughout the show, some people suspected it could be covid.

Your concern is noted 😂

Pedallleur · 22/06/2024 18:46

All this because Dad took the children out. He was top of the VIP guest list anyway. It burns me but that's the way it is atm.

anniegun · 22/06/2024 18:47

He was so lucky to manage to get tickets. Must have spent hours on Ticketmaster

Any view on the Royal Family is political, as they are funded by the UK taxpayer.

Doctors, nurses, teachers, civil servants and many more are 'funded by the taxpayer'.

In fact, only a minority of people are net contributors. So most people are 'funded by the taxpayer'.

I respect that there is a debate to be had about the role of a monarchy in today’s society. I just don’t think a lovely picture of a couple of kids having the time of their lives in what’s been a tricky year is the place for it.

That's not political. It’s just decency.

But when is it the time? I had people say to me that when Philip died it wasn't the time. And when Elizabeth died it wasn't the time. And now some of them have been ill it isn't the time.
I think if you accept public money you have to be accountable. Many people here see a photo of a family with a pop star.Fair enough- I respect that viewpoint. But of course behind it all there is politics- who paid for the police escort- who paid for the extra security etc? Why does that family get access due to their ancestors that no-one else gets?
I called the police last night to a large fight in the street- they turned up late and people got injured. Was that due to a lack of police? We have many officers employed just as royal protection officers. Politics is everywhere.

Anyway, I have school reports to finish so I'm off. I'm not so bothered continuing a conversation where another poster called me a sadfuck for disagreeing with them.

Yes it is sad, that some posters seem to be unable to resist the urge to bring Meghan into everything to do with the royals, when the thread is not even about her. Sad. It is always a bitchy post more often than not.

Well I did that when I thought they were friends and she was on her show. I don’t know why people get so upset about REALLY good music!!!

AllMyRowdyFriends · 22/06/2024 18:50

I mean, didn’t she go to two Taylor concerts with Blake Lively? Or am I mixing up?

Good to see what us plebs are paying for. At least they chucked us a photo.
My sister went to the concert- she sat miles away from the stage, and it cost her a reasonable dent in her weekly salary. She had a great time.
Unlike William and his no doubt incredibly spoilt children, she deserved it, as she works incredibly hard. And she paid for it herself.

I'm sure my sister enjoyed her experience more than William did. For him it's another freebie paid for by the taxpayer, one of hundreds he gets in a year because his ancestor William the Conqueror was luckier at the Battle of Hastings than Harold in 1066. For my sister it was a lovely treat.

I also wonder if Taylor Swift really wants to spend time with freeloaders like him. Probably feels like she has to.

Jesus, go suck on a few lemons while you’re at it why don’t you!

This is cutting a little close to the bone now. Lots of people are stay at home carers or have diabetes and can’t work. Should they never go to a concert?

Let me guess. You don't know the history of the Royal Family ?

Penelope Bridgerton (nee Featherington) was there. She was in the VIP lounge and won’t have queued or paid for her ticket.

Why aren’t people complaining about that? Acting isn’t a proper job.

What about unemployed people?

Or drug addicts?

Or those who cannot work due to disability?

Or the many others who do not work and are yet recipients of taxpayer money?

Should they stay at home all the time too? Is any comment on them inherently 'political'?

Dolma · 22/06/2024 18:55

Taylor's mother has had cancer. I wonder if Taylor felt empathy for George and Charlotte and reached out to arrange this meeting.

You’re a teacher? You only work till 3pm and have 72 weeks holiday a year, don’t you? That’s not a proper job.

No? Do you think it’s possible that the public perception of what people do can be wrong?

Hedgeoffressian · 22/06/2024 18:57

SummaLuvin · 22/06/2024 14:58

I wonder if this indicates William is ready to crack on with some actual work. He has only done 9 engagements so far in June, according to the Court Circular, yet he has the time/energy/fitness to leverage his position as Prince of Wales to get prime tickets to an England football match and now Taylor Swift (so crowds clearly not an issue with Kates treatment and exposure risk). William is next in line to the throne, when will we demand more of him? It's time for him to step up, the King (who is battling cancer at 70+) is doing more than him. Wheeling his cute kids out for a photo op to make us forget his laziness is becoming wearing.

His wife has been battling cancer FFS. The kids have probably been worried sick about their mum. They deserve a bit of down time. Bet you’re just some communist hating royal hater who would like to see the back of the monarchy. I’m so sick and tired of the culture, history and traditions of this country being derided by those on the left (the mindless vandalism of Stonehenge this past week being just one example). If you are so ashamed of this country then do us all a favour and go and move to somewhere like Iran 🙄

There are massive problems, but they are not caused by the RF. As I've said elsewhere, they could disappear tomorrow leaving all their wordly goods behind and we would still be where we are.

ETA as warming to theme. There are not huge numbers of Royal Protection Officers. If they joined local forces on the disappearance of the RF, it would reduce crime statistics by doodaliy squat.

I’ve said this elsewhere but I am pretty much a full time carer for my DH with MS. Both he and I would love to be able to work full time. Or go to a concert. But I don’t begrudge someone else who can. Where would that get me? I’d just spend my time being negative and life is too short for that. And it wouldn’t change my situation. So I really don’t have time for Fun Sponge Square Pants who begrudge two children being lucky enough to go to a gig with their father and make a lovely memory and claim that being happy for them is a “political” statement. What a load of old shite

These are two young children whose mother and grandfather have cancer. How bitter do you have to be to resent them this experience?

They do what they are told to. They are struggling what to talk about as jam has its limits. You can only defend a Bandaid dress and a bad weave for so long. They are people who seem to lead deeply unsatisfactory lives. Well it's all the fault of the past isn't it?

AllMyRowdyFriends · 22/06/2024 19:02

A teacher?! So angry about children going to a Taylor Swift concert with their parent. 🙀
