The good days and bad days message is so important and she has expressed it well. People see cancer patients on a good day and assume they are completely well, fit for work etc. or they see them on a bad day and assume their illness is terminal. Hopefully Kate appearing on the balcony will satisfy curiosity and she will still have space to heal.

What a gorgeous picture and heartfelt message, it will be lovely to see her at Trooping, glad she is feeling well enough to attend, great news! As for that vile man Bouzy he really is unhealthily obsessed with Catherine isn’t he, but I expect his card is well and truly markec now, William has had a meeting with the Secret Service this week, I’m sure his online hate campaign and bolstering of his squaddies are definitely being well and truly monitored.

This was my thought too. No matter how well you feel, this must be a pain and will most likely have involved a full lot of pictures being taken to select this one. After what happened last time though she probably wanted to avoid any speculation. She really can’t win either way

A youngish relative is going through the same thing- it sounds like preventative treatment now - first chemo week you're wiped out completely, second week just beginning to feel human at the end of the week, third week you're pretty OK but dreading the next week starting chemo again. It's brutal, physically and mentally whether you're a teacher or the POW..my relative has been off work now for 15 months and only now thinking of returning. The new drugs they are giving her are taking a toll though.
It's a tough tough road especially with a young family even though she must have wonderful practical support.

Wow, that didn’t take long! He really is a nasty piece of shit. The people who claim him as a friend and ally really need to think about their moral compass.

I truly hope Kate is feeling well enough and is not appearing out of any pressure from anyone.
If she appears the least bit unwell there are those who will run with it and have a field day criticizising her and at her expense.

I also truly hope that Kate is under no pressure and that if she wakes tomorrow feeling unwell, she stays home and doesn’t allow anyone to browbeat her into attending.
I can’t imagine the pressure she’s already under on top of her treatment, on top of her illness, on top of her being a mother, on top of her “princessing” duties.
I hope people in her circle and around her are empathetic right up until the car ride to the event.

I am guessing this message was sent to let people know in advance that she will be doing a public outing (and by knowing in advance is hoping there won't be such a big thing made out of it thereby taking away from Charles's Day as he will not want that either?). Although another part of me wonders if Kate being there is, in part, to distract from wondering how Charles's treatment is going.

And perhaps also a tiny bit of hope that people won't scrutinise her appearance to every minute detail (which is exactly what will happen).

Its strategic no doubt but it strikes a nice balance between personal and professional.

My cousin, my closest person in the world, was across the country from me when she was (dying) suffering from cancer and we could only talk by phone.
I’d call her every other day and she sounded good — until she told me that California got things before North Carolina did when I told her about my aquarium.
It was then that I realized how very ill she truly was and how the morphine had affected her.

I think its going to be a huge event & her attendance will absolutely over shadow every aspect of the day. BUT I don't think Charles will mind. He clearly adores Catherine & I think he'll be delighted to share his day with her if it means she's well enough to attend.

I guess it's good to get it out of the way. It sounds as if she has been doing everyday activities like the school run when she is able. Getting this milestone of a first public appearance and understanding of her desire to get back to normal life opens the way for her to be seen publicly from time to time whilst still not being back to her previous schedule. It must be quite annoying to feel the need to stay hidden away when she is feeling well. Maybe she would like to join William for some social activities eg last weeks' big wedding but felt she couldn't because her public appearance would have been the big story not the wedding. Going forward hopefully there will be acceptance that she may be out and about sometimes but not all the time.
