Does not out of the woods mean the cancer hasn't gone, she's not had the all clear or she could still die?

I know no one knows but I was just wondering.

I had biopsy results this week and mine were ambiguous so looking for clarity really.

The original statement talked about preventative chemotherapy, not curative. I think she is referring to the fact that she is still in the process of receiving chemotherapy and this will continue to have good and bad days. In other words she can't come back to her full role yet.

hastalav · 14/06/2024 18:45

Looking surprisingly well and beautiful as ever in the pic.

Sorry, but I can't help wondering about her hair and chemo. As anyone who has had to go through the chemo regime would wonder. I know there are some chemo drugs that do not result in hair loss. Hope hers is one of them.

In any event, it is a great boost for all going through this to see her looking good. Gives hope to others, and her message is so true.

Helloworld56 · 14/06/2024 18:46

Excellent news, and I hope she continues to make good progress.

crumblingschools · 14/06/2024 18:48

@hastalav DF had various forms of chemo over 8 years, his hair was not impacted

It's the very first time I have reported anyone. Meghan has nothing to do with this and has no desire to compete with Kate. They both fabulously walk the paths they have chosen

i had chemo for colon cancer from October-December last year. I think it’s called preventative treatment. Just to zap up unwanted cells. My chemo I didn’t loose my hair, but it did thin. Just starting to thicken out now

Ffs. They walk amongst us.

Indeed.

Kate looks well in that pic.

Imagine the scrutiny she’ll get at the Trooping of the Colour. Hope she feels well enough and she’s not under pressure to appear.

Imagine the cheers! I hope that people are just happy to see her getting well.

My friend had preventative chemo which lasted about 6 months. She was told before it started she would be unlikely to loose her hair because of the chemo they were using. She lost none & it didn't thin at all.

smilesy · 14/06/2024 18:53

Lovely news and glad to see her looking so well. Had to smile at “not out of the woods yet” when she is literally being photographed in the woods. Taking the Royals love of being literal to the extreme 😆

LivelyBlake · 14/06/2024 18:55

Fantastic news! Really happy for her.

ItsNotAShopItsAStore · 14/06/2024 18:55

Yay!!
im so pleased she’s feeling up to it.
As a positive side effect the Sussex Squad will be absolutely fizzing. Oh sweet joy.

Mind you I expect they’ll be all over Twitter claiming imposter.

For those wondering (!) abut the Princess of Wales' hair...I had a course of chemo and it was of a sort that does cause hair loss but I didn't lose my hair because I used the Ice Cap. Not pleasant but it worked. As a previous poster has said, there are also various forms of chemo that do not cause hair loss.

What a lovely message,

"I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.

I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.

My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.

I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.

I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.

Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.

C "

It really is a lovely message.

AuntieJoyce · 14/06/2024 18:57

I think it’s quite sad she has to pose for a picture in the middle of chemo. Best wishes to her

Those of us who have gone through chemo can totally relate to the good and bad days and the desire to enjoy those good days knowing the next round of bad days are never that far away.

and she does look beautiful.

She looks amazing! I’m wondering if she had the treatment (cold caps?) to retain her hair or if it’s a wig - sorry is that insensitive? Whatever it is it looks fantastic. I’ve always had such hair envy for Catherine

Getupat8amnow · 14/06/2024 18:57

My mum had eight months of chemo - R-CHOP - for stage four Non Hodgkin Lymphoma and didn’t lose her hair at all. Many chemo drugs don’t have hair lose and for some drugs some people do lose hair and others don’t.

When she was in the middle of her treatment people couldn’t believe how well she looked on the good days, they didn’t see the bad days as she was at home.

crumblingschools · 14/06/2024 18:58

@AuntieJoyce I assume there will be plenty of photos of her tomorrow too.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/06/2024 18:59

So lovely to see some nice news for a change - very happy for her Smile

Same for me. I had chemo for breast cancer. The cooling cap saved my hair, I was so happy about that! It makes a huge difference psychologically when you don't "look" like a cancer patient. It doesn't work for everybody but I was very glad it worked for me.

Catsinaflat · 14/06/2024 18:59

Im going tomorrow. Was feeling a bit despondent because of the weather but this has really cheered me up!

Wishihadanalgorithm · 14/06/2024 19:00

I think tomorrow will be a very special Trooping the Colour. If Kate does attend there will be huge cheers for her and the King.

She does look lovely in the pics.
