One of my dcs finds Louis hilarious - a bit like a character from a Just William type book! He seems to know just how far he can push it to not get reprimanded by the adults, but to totally wind Charlotte up! ( I’m actually not sure why they haven’t told her not to react as it just draws more attention really).

But anyway, they were watching the footage where Louis yawns and snaps his mouth shut like a piranha on the balcony and I noticed ( otherwise not noticeable at all) that behind him Kate actually looks almost in pain ( and no not because of the antics!) She looks like she is being incredibly stoic. Still elegant on the surface but you just glimpse it underneath. I’m sure the day demanded a lot of effort for her.

Lucky you. Sock puppeting is usually an automatic ban. Clearly MN has one rule for some.

Yes it’s interesting how someone has got away with sock puppeting on this thread and had their posts left up

I can't take seriously someone who's name sounds like a Saturday night out at the pub.

If a friend of mine was spouting bile about an ill member of my family , I think I would say something or disassociate from them.

JamieFraserSporran · 17/06/2024 09:51

Bouzy is vile about most people. He's in it for the clicks and the bucks.

Passiflora2 · 17/06/2024 09:51

What just making money out of hate?

I hope you keep well @doublec 💐

@TheFirmBiscuit why did you do it ?

Because of bullying on these threads and a name change by someone to ridicule my name - it wasn't done in anger more a sauce for the goose light hearted push back. I'm not upset and anyway now I know the rules. MN must have looked at my posting history and seen that there is nothing malicious here so just a polite warning which has been taken in good grace. One should remember what Justine wrote imagine her mod army have similar thoughts and don't want to get involved in all the bickering unless it is malicious and nasty.

And best wishes @doublec I hope it all goes well for you. 💐

My biscuit remains firm.

AliceOlive · 17/06/2024 10:56

One less person who can crow “I never name change” is good with me.

TBH I think MN made it too easy.I understand the need for it but it should probably be on a need to have basis - you let MNHQ know you need one and they grant it. It would stop larking around.

BlueParrotRedParrot · 17/06/2024 11:02

I didn't think it was possible to post in 2 different names on one thread. Unless you are logging on from different email addresses. Anyway, I know who to avoid having a good faith discussion with.

Which I wasn't.

@BlueParrotRedParrot as far as I can tell , if you are posting from the app you can name change on the same thread , I believe that mn implemented something that stops this happening on the website, so on app possible on website, yes you would need a separate account.

So just download the app and you can post in bad faith. Great. This site just gets better and better.

👋

AliceOlive · 17/06/2024 11:09

Nope, you can do it but it defaults to the name you started with in the thread, I think. I had to type the other name in the box. The box defaults to this name.

I am posting from Firefox with a host of various paywall busting, ad blockers and java script and cookies disabled which I find very useful. So that may explain the anomaly. I hardly ever use a phone.

Hence the 'oops' you can't delete a post when you have made it. Happy to help you repel future boarders. Poacher turned gamekeeper.

AliceOlive · 17/06/2024 11:18

I’m not sure what that means. I just think you have to intentionally do it because once you begin in a thread under one name it defaults to that for your remaining posts.

You can use different names in each thread. But doing so intentionally in one thread to give the impression of being a different poster is not ok. People do it for various reasons, none of them nice.

Someone that was harassing me accidentally posted on another forum where they were a stalwart, using their new undercover name. I thought that was rather sad actually. They don’t seem to have returned since. After a decade of posting as a a seemingly normal person.

So you can apparently post under a different user name on the same thread as long as the different name is already existing and is in your "library" of names in settings. Sneaky.

I thanked you as NameChangeBilly as the thread defaulted to that. Given how ancient all this software is MN could easily implement more robust anti-troll checks but choose not to. One because I think rightly they hope the site will be self-policing and two maybe they like all the drama that drives engagement at key times and boosts the advertising revenue.
