I don't think Charles looks ill. He looks old - which he is. But for a seventy-five-year-old man undergoing cancer treatment, he looks healthy enough.

Oi! 1948 was an excellent vintage, he's well matured, less of the 'old'!

silverneedle · 15/06/2024 15:42

Two sets of lovely pictures I saw online.

Catherine to attend event tomorrow

In unsurprising news, the online conspiracy theorists are swivelling wildly between two contradictory points...
a) she doesn't and has never had cancer because she looks too well and beautiful and at the same time (usually accompained by smiling photo in carriage)
b) she and the children looked unbearably sad and they're there under duress as part of the divorce negotiations (usually accompanied by photo watching on from window)
eta to add in the photo references

George looks tired and bored tbh.

Charles looks exhausted.

Edited

George never looks like he enjoys these public occasions poor little boy. I think Camilla looks tired and like she’s forcing herself to do it. Who can blame her.

Passiflora2 · 15/06/2024 15:48

Catherine looks genuinely overjoyed to be part of it all bless her.

RocketsMagnificent7 · 15/06/2024 15:49

Then there are those doubling down and claiming it wasn't her 🤦🏻‍♀️ Body double apparently and that's why the children weren't smiling, due to being so uncomfortable. Absolute crackpots, but it's almost amusing trying to see what they'll come up with next.

MyQuaintDog · 15/06/2024 15:51

The fact is she does look very well. Better than she was looking before she stopped doing public engagements.

Charles looks ill. He has cancer that he is having treatment for. So not surprising he does not look healthy.

I know but he’s looked healthier on earlier engagements. I hope he’s feeling ok. A big day for them all, hoping they’re all in PJs now (I had a day out and got pissed soaked through it’s exactly what I’m doing)

I wonder if someone could clarify, she says she has months left but it’s just preventative, is that normal to take so long? I’ve not heard of anyone having preventative sadly only that have had higher stages. I assumed preventative would be less intrusive and less lengthy. I’m glad she looks so well hopefully that is a good sign. I expect also she’s getting the very best treatment (as she should)

A friend of mine had preventative chemo after removing what they said was early stage cancer. The preventative chemo lasted 6 months. It made her very tired. Lots of sickness, headaches and loss of appetite. It was ‘successful’, but cancer being the bastard that it is, it came back and sadly she died 20 months later aged 44.

Presumably it came at a less opportune part of his treatment cycle. I've only seen stills, but he does look ill. Which of course, he is, so fair enough! Must have been a long day for him.

I do wonder how much George knows about how his life is set out for him, and if he feels it profoundly at events like these.

He must know fully at this age, and have known for a while. They'd need him to be informed as his school friends will be, and he'll have at least occasional access to the internet. It must be a very strange childhood.

He knows and he’s never know any different. He’s ten though, so won’t be prone to profound feelings. No ten year old is.

TBh I think there’s a Windsor resting bored face. The Queen had it. Charles has it. Harry has it. George may have inherited it. My DD had inherited her dad’s and is always being asked if she’s ok

Must be awful for them all to hear the booing, no wonder they looked so serious

I doubt they heard anything but noise. The BBC cameras were near the protestors, and there really weren’t many but the cameras will have picked it up

George looks how I probably did at his age when we had to visit great aunty Beryl. It's only a couple of hours and they probably had the chance to do something else while all the marching was taking place.

Because they are a publicly funded broadcaster so they should do their best to reflect the spread of views across the public who fund them. A 5 minute interview with a republican wouldn't turn it into an opinion piece. It's no less relevant than some RAF high-up explaining why the occasion is important to them and similar.

But it’s wasn’t an opinion show - it was a professional event and they interviewed professionals.

I know I can't wait. He went for the Coronation as well.

George is only ten, he’s not media savvy like an adult,he is just there being a ten year old.

I didn't watch it I imagine the sycophancy fawning meter was turned up to 11 with ponderous breathless facts about arcane traditions that probably started in Victoria's time but are regarded as timeless incarnations of our Royal heritage. Graham tells me that had a good innings for the Republic , so all bases are covered.

So I guess it's back to business as usual with the 2 Minute Harry Hate stretched out to a couple of hours !

Trooping the Colour was started by George III in 1738

If you don’t like it fair enough but get your facts right

She looks very healthy, unlike Charles who really does look ill.

She looks like that because :
1.Tan

  1. Makeup
  2. White clothes (she doesn't look pale, she looks "fresh" in them).

If King would have at least 30% of her tan - he would look healthier too.

A family member has been closely involved with him. They say he definitely does know he is ‘special’ and doesn’t behave as if he’s just one of the crowd. Not spoilt though.

I think George is now old enough to realise that the other kids at school do not do this kind of stuff so however nice people are to him, he knows it sets him apart. I realised the other day that in the past many royals including William and Harry missed Trooping because it takes place during term time and they would have been away boarding. It is only because the Wales have delayed sending George and Charlotte that they are attending this event. (I've definitely seen pictures of a year Harry was there but not William would have been at Ludgrove. Another year Zara was there but no Peter who would have been at his prep school or Gordonstoun).
