Ten year olds are perfectly capable of feeling profound feelings.

Yes of course they are.

A friend of mine had preventative chemo after removing what they said was early stage cancer. The preventative chemo lasted 6 months. It made her very tired. Lots of sickness, headaches and loss of appetite. It was ‘successful’, but cancer being the bastard that it is, it came back and sadly she died 20 months later aged 44.

I am so sorry about your friend.
Preventative cancer is normally 3-6 months treatment.

I think George is also old enough to feel protective of his mother in much the same way that William was protective towards Diana when he was about the same age. George is old enough to know that cancer is serious and however much his parents will want to protect him, he will be taking in all that has happened since the New Year.

As the mother of a just turned 11yo I 100% agree!

I wonder if someone could clarify, she says she has months left but it’s just preventative, is that normal to take so long? I’ve not heard of anyone having preventative sadly only that have had higher stages. I assumed preventative would be less intrusive and less lengthy. I’m glad she looks so well hopefully that is a good sign. I expect also she’s getting the very best treatment (as she should)

In March, I finished six months of chemo. It was 'preventative'. However, in truth, there is no such thing as preventative chemo. Sure, some are easier, some don't make you lose your hair, but all are intrusive and lengthy. Chemo is chemo is chemo.

For most, surgery will remove the cancer. However, it is possible that during the time the tumour has been growing, it could have metastasised. This means it could have shed a cell, possibly more. (Remember, a single cancel cell are minuscule, they cannot be seen or show up on a scan). What preventative chemo is given in the hope of stopping/killing any stray cancer cells that shed (so haven't been removed during surgery) and have spread through the body, are laying dormant, and could reawaken at some point in the future. Preventative chemo is given to stop the cancer metastasising elsewhere.

She looked lovely

I also didn't think Charles looked well and it wasn't sensible for him to stand in the pouring rain for ten minutes without an umbrella taking a salute. Tradition is one thing but this is a 75 year old man with cancer, ffs.

Remember when PP got ill after standing in the rain in a boat? Can’t remember the situation but he and the Queen were out in awful weather when very elderly.

I remember that. Was it the Diamond jubilee or something like that. I felt freezing just watching them 🥶

AInightingale · 15/06/2024 16:42

Philip was hospitalised if I remember. Surprised they are taking that risk with the King, I thought you had to be very careful when undergoing chemo because your immunity and ability to fight off infection is compromised.

Yes he was. I wonder if Charles just found himself in the situation and couldn’t really say ‘I’m not doing this, let’s go inside’. It wasn’t really an option. Someone should have thought ahead.

Noosnom · 15/06/2024 16:47

I've just caught up with the part with KC saluting in the rain. Hopefully his uniform is very waterproofed and warm. Cosy boot liners too.

I'd never noticed the amazing shire horses before.

Reminded me of his late father stood on the boat in the rain and then next day was in hospital

Lovely to see her looking elegant and healthy. Looks like she has recycled a previously worn dress too, with a change of waistband and neck bow. Classic Catherine.

Catherine to attend event tomorrow

Charles will have known exactly what was going to happen. He chose this.

I get the impression that Charles is not easy to dissuade when he wants to do something. It's important to him to do everything he should as monarch.

Passiflora2 · 15/06/2024 16:54

But not the weather!

You really think Charles and his staff are too dim to realise it might rain? Given the amount of rain we would be having that would be exceptionally dim not to realise that might happen.
Charles will have wanted the ceremony to be traditional and will have stuck to the protocol. Remember he was at first insistent he would ride in on a horse, until common sense prevailed. Whether Charles was wise to stand in the rain is another question, but I have no doubt this is what he planned.

For all the decades where people speculated he was gonna be a shit or unpopular King I have to say he really puts the work in, he is dedicated to the cause and he is thick skinned.

I think King suits him, he’s more popular with me anyhow since becoming King.

The Daily Mail’s coverage of her is laughable. “Catherine the Great” they are referring to her as. The same newspaper contributing towards the conspiracy theories of her when she was poorly and the same newspaper who relentlessly stalked her and called her all sorts when she first started dating William. They have no shame.

This is a play on words referring to at previous Queen Consort (with an interesting life!) called Catherine

When did they contribute towards conspiracy theories??

The stalking of her was awful. But it was also 20 years ago and new people will be at the helm. It wasn’t just the DM either

The Princess of Wales looked absolutely stunning. On point perfect. 👌 I am so glad that she’s obviously heading in the right direction at least.

What a turn out! In such awful weather too. I don’t think our Royal Family are going anywhere, anytime soon.
Although it fries my brain how many anti-monarchists love certain non-working members of the Royal Family. Those who love to use their Royal titles and who spend their time reminding everyone of their Royal connections and try to make out that they are as Royal as possible!?! Make it make sense. Cannot believe that she who must not be named tried to detract by their bestie posting a photo of dog biscuits 😂 bless. Such good value for the shits and giggles though.

Sycophants complaining of sycophancy and fawning…..Ironic and hilarious!

For all of you, who have been or are being affected by cancer 💐💕.

I am not a Republican but I understand their plight. The ones who confuse me are the ones who moan the RF don’t work hard enough 🤯
