I really can't get myself worked up this much over a random person I don't know.

upinaballoon · 20/06/2024 10:31

I'm not worked up about her but I have looked at her again and I do so like that scallopped neck-line. (scalopped? scalloped?)

That sounds healthy.

What drew you to post about the wedding photos of a non-royal on the MN RF boards about a "random person" that you "don't know"?

I'm tying not to sound Mrs Merton here but it's not easy...

Literally because i was that surprised to see she was only 31 and lo and behold there was a thread about the wedding so just stuck it in there.

I also don't think she's that beautiful but I didn't write that because that wasn't the overwhelming thing I was thinking at that time. It is only my opinion, and I didn't think it would be at all controversial or receive any attention. But I do think it's a bit much all the reaction to my comment about somebody in the media spotlight that none of us know.

OliceAlive · 20/06/2024 10:59

Like, who cares, though?

Why going around calling random people wrinkly and not beautiful.

It doesn’t really matter that we don’t know her though. She is a fellow human being who you are commenting on her appearance on the basis of a photo. It just comes across as a bit unpleasant. Especially as it is her wedding day

OliceAlive · 20/06/2024 11:02

Also, why comment if not for a reaction? Surely you expect something back?

Ok.
Where did you first see the photos that surprised you as to her age and drew you to find a thread on MN about the wedding?
I don't use a lot of SM so wouldn't have known anything about their wedding apart from looking at the RF topic here.

And you've not answered my point.
If you don't think she’s "that beautiful" <cough> isn't it really nice that a man - who could have had his pick of slug-eyebrowed, injected-lips, botoxed, perma-tanned "beauties" - chose an elderly-looking (apparently), wrinkled (apparently), not fao's friends (definitely)?
He must love her for herself and not for any outside appearance.
Lucky Olivia.

ArcaneWireless · 20/06/2024 11:07

I’m sensing an ‘I don’t care about them either way’ situation.

Yet found a thread. Chatted shite. Tried to defend it.

Lo and beharold.

Of course it's nice he likes her!
The reason I said some of my friends is (not because I think they should be his wife 😂) because we're older and not that many wrinkles. It just looks very stark to me. It's fine for others to think the opposite of me too.

Lo and beharold.

You're right.
It is something I don't care about either way, certainly not remotely anything like those replying. But also I didn't expect a reaction. I haven't been on this board before I don't think, I thought it was a bit like "here's an article, discuss" situation. But I seem to have stumbled upon some kind of fan club...

Anyway, I only stuck around because I was replying to stuff I'd been quoted on. Happy not to also :)

berthaofcalcutta · 20/06/2024 11:32

IME there are people who think criticising a woman's natural looks becomes an act of insightful class analysis when she's rich.

OliceAlive · 20/06/2024 11:34

I can’t be bothered.

Okay.

Maybe that's because all your friends (some of which you've said you know, so props there) have to offer?
"Older and not that many wrinkles".
Proof is in the pudding, I suppose.
Maybe he couldn't stand being bored to death by someone saying "Do my eyebrows look best like this? Or this"

ArcaneWireless · 20/06/2024 12:06

Fan club? No.

But interesting that you should jump to that conclusion when most have just been calling out comments that belong to the mouth of an arse.

OliceAlive · 20/06/2024 13:13

I replied similarly when comments were made about Meghan’s face. I’m not in any fan club and don’t even know anything about Hugh or Olivia. They only came to my attention because Harrance and Meghalin put out a comment about not being invited to the wedding. “No we were!! We said no!!”

LaMarschallin · 20/06/2024 13:21

It's fine for others to think the opposite of me too.

That's generous.
Just pop up a picture of of yourself +/- wrinkles, filters etc and I'm sure people here will let you know the thoughts it inspires...

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 20/06/2024 13:25

But I seem to have stumbled upon some kind of fan club...

Oh here we go.

I've never met the woman, and most likely never will. I have no thoughts about her or her DH (apart from how eerily similar they are facially in the pics I've seen). But to stumble on a board about a wedding and post about 'OMG the bride has WRINKLES!' is a bit...odd. Not to mention meanspirited at any time, and on a woman's wedding day, FGS. And then when called out on the meanspiritedess, to call it a fan club is equally odd.

ArcaneWireless · 20/06/2024 13:46

I live near a peculiar spot of the country where every guest tries to outfrock the others.

The comments about other outfits would make collars match cuffs without the need for bleach.

I have never, at those weddings or weddings I have attended around the world, heard anyone cast a slight on the bride’s own face.

An expression? Yes. An outfit? Yes. Make up? Perhaps. Hair? Oh yes. I started attending weddings in the 80s. Enough said about that.

But never a face.

It puzzles me that a natural looking, attractive bride’s face would attract anything other than ‘she looks beautiful/radiant/happy/in love’ or whatever positive comment comes to mind.

Well, that depends a lot on the commenter and what sort of point they're trying to make on a board they just happened to stumble onto 🙄. But catty comments about a bride on her wedding day, whatever the agenda, serve a useful purpose in outing the commenter as just a bit of an arse.

WAG territory?

A gorgeous setting and a happy couple with happy guests.
Beautiful windy wedding photos.

I liked that the town was excited too.

The non perfect clunky blue bowed shoes and the flower girl's non delicate black shoes were just small enough mistakes to give the wedding a human touch. Personal taste and choice triumphed over fine fashion.

MerryChristmasToYou · 20/06/2024 14:22

@user1492757084 , city not town. Smile

If you've not been there, it's a nice place to visit. Visit Chester | The Official Tourism Site for Chester | Visitchester.com (visitcheshire.com).
If you have been there, you'll probably want to go again.

PrincessMee · 20/06/2024 15:17

It's all just to distract from the fact that Harry and Meghan were not at the wedding.

spanieleyes · 20/06/2024 15:36

I do feel sorry for the pair ( and yes, I know they are multi-millionaires with everything you could possibly wish for) because they didn't ask for all this negativity and criticism, what should have been a lovely day for them seems to have led to a complete bitch fest, with criticisms of everyone and everything, simply because of the link to some elements of the Royal Family. Hopefully they aren't on Mumsnet!

OliceAlive · 20/06/2024 15:53

This is my attitude.
