Apparently it was a “sustainable brown carpet”. As opposed to a red carpet. Not plywood

^

Absolutely brilliant

Eugenie looks to be telling the footman off as she's getting into the coach

Where do Beatrice and Eugenie get their money from?

Eugenie works for a gallery, though it’s debatable just how much work it involves if she now lives in Portugal, and Beatrice has a tech job and a rich husband. Perhaps they have trust funds set up too? Beyond that I don’t know where they get their money but they do tend to show up to the opening of an (all expenses paid) envelope! The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…

Oblomov24 · 10/06/2024 05:43

The protestors were disgraceful. Not keen on the plywood on the floor. Some of the bridesmaid dresses and shoes weren't great.

Eugenie should perhaps ask her sister who her stylist is. Beatrice looks really good these days.

Married to an Italian that’s why 😂😅

Such a good question! A job at an art gallery wouldn’t pay enough for all those designer clothes, travel and parties. Not even sure Eugenie still works there, after all she has two small children and moved to Portugal. Probably helps to live rent free at Kensington Palace.

Unlike Kate can they accept freebies from designers?

@stillavid Agree, love the colour graded dress the woman on Eugenie's right wore. Very striking and looked perfect on her.

Beatrice & Eugenie would still have stylists. Even lower ranked royals like Zara Tindall surely must? And they must loan/borrow a lot of the clothes they wear to public events. Nobody could have that many dresses & hats. Especially given they're all slammed if they wear anything more than 2/year. Or else given praise for "recycling" their clothes.

Zara with all her race-going events plus appearances at family things must be leasing clothes via a stylist. She'd need a whole other house on Mummy's estate to store all the outfits she's been pictured in.

Yes they all have stylists, if you follow some Royal fashion pages on insta they sometimes credit the stylists too. And the stylists on their insta takes credit too.

ThePoshUns · 10/06/2024 07:02

I imagine as grand daughter of QE2, they have trust funds/ inheritance.

KatyaKabanova · 10/06/2024 07:06

Princess Beatrice's stylist seems to be Olivia Buckingham.

LaMarschallin · 10/06/2024 07:19

I thought lots of well off people or those in the public eye had stylists.
This idea is purely based on the Marian Keyes book "This Charming Man", mind you, in which one main character is a stylist.

Edited to say:
I have every respect for the amount of research MK does for her books, so don't think I'm being too foolish in thinking that her description of her character's job is pretty accurate.

They do. I remember someone asking Prue Leith how she chooses her clothes and she says that she goes to the rail that her stylist has created.

LaMarschallin · 10/06/2024 07:23

KatyaKabanova

Ooh, hadn't seen that about PL.
Thank you

Eugenie And Beatrice don’t live at KP though?

Passiflora2 · 10/06/2024 07:47

I didn’t realise they all had stylists. I just be very naive! Why on earth doesn’t Meghan have one then? Her clothes are uniformly awful and inappropriate.

Not just those in the public eye - I know some women who are partners in big professional firms who have stylists, who will go and shop for them, and send them selections of clothes to try on, as well as picking specific outfits for big events.

I think people use stylists for three main reasons:

  • they have no time to look for clothes themselves
  • they have no confidence that they know what colours and styles suit them
  • they appreciate that a stylist will consistently do a better job dressing them than they do themselves.
I don’t know why Meghan doesn’t use one (in her emails to Jason Knauf she was frustrated that people thought her friend was her stylist because she chose her own clothes, and wanted that to be recognised) but it could be because she doesn’t fall into any of those categories.
LaMarschallin · 10/06/2024 07:59

Serenster

Quite.

I did say: "I thought lots of well off people or those in the public eye had stylists"

Serenster · 10/06/2024 08:00

Yes,apologies, I meant it’s not just the aristo set who use them!

LaMarschallin · 10/06/2024 08:04

Serenster

No problem.
That's certainly the impression I got from the novel.

KatyaKabanova · 10/06/2024 08:07

Yes, @Passiflora2 I think Meghan would benefit from a stylist because it would just make her look a bit more put together. She looked good when in the RF, but Charles was paying for clothes and possibly alterations and fittings as well. I think if you're gifted clothes or sponsored to wear them, maybe they aren't always suitable or a great fit?
I realise I'm speculating and am not having a go at Meghan because I think she can look amazing but often the outfits aren't great. So tricky for a woman in the public eye.

Eugenie has an apartment there. There are lots of apartments at KP not just the main palace. Don’t know if she lives there full time, she did a podcast recently and talked about having a take away delivered there.

I read in a fashion blog (Puck News) that some of her clothes choices are deliberately not as groomed and well put together sort of signifying that she is not part of working RF anymore but more LA relaxed style.

Interesting. I think it's fine to look relaxed and informal, but so often the items are creased and the proportions wrong. She looks great in very casual clothes, I think the "in-between" look is harder to do successfully.
