The royal family

Why do Harry and Meghan tell porkies that are so easy to prove wrong?

Starting with the porkie that Archie wasn’t gonna be titled. Anyone who understands the Letters Patent would know that as long as the Queen was alive this was never gonna happen. I said this when watching the Oprah interview and I’m pretty appalled they told such an easily provable lie.

Then Harry said that daddy cut his security off. Anyone who knows about RAVEC knows it is independent of the Royal Family and Charles couldn’t do this if he tried. Same with “Only titled people get security” / this was so easy to prove wrong.

And why are there 2 versions of the proposal story. Did they think we wouldn’t notice? Is one a Hollywood version for their American audience?

The same with the ‘how they met’ story - in their engagement interview they said it was a blind date, to Netflix they met on Instagram.

I also was puzzled at her saying she never wore bright colours and that royal women could never wear the same colour as the Queen. It’s just nonsense. See below pictures.

Why do they do this? My theory is that everything they do now is for an American audience who are used to the reality TV narrative of “Some scenes have been created for entertainment” style TV and just accept their narrative as partly fictional, as long as it’s entertaining?

What’s this story about? Has it been verified? I don’t know what happened with flower girl dresses. However, the fact they weren’t fitted so near to the deadline is absolutely unbelievable quite frankly. They could have sent people to measure the children wherever they were. Or paid to have them measured by local seamstresses and the measurements sent. Or better still, sent the measurements and buy from a specialised maker. Whatever happened was pretty disgraceful. Poor people who had to redo it and they still didn’t look right; and then sending them out without socks or tights. So much of that wedding sounds like it was organised by chaos.

Apparently Givenchy were given measurements only, without “repeat” fittings (implying that there was at least one?) and a second team were brought in to fix them days before the wedding.

Until Harry included the story in his book, no one had gone looking for the guy interviewed in this article, he didn’t speak out on his own accord when he had many years to do so. Same with the girl that he lost his virginity to. They respected his privacy and only spoke publicly after Harry put the story in the public domain.

Tailor at centre of Meghan and Kate's bridesmaid dress row speaks out

Luxury suit and dressmaker Ajay Mirpuri (pictured) has broken four years of silence on the now infamous affair after being tracked down by the Daily Mail.

The text exchange speaks volumes about the dislike between the two women, even before the wedding.

Who measured them? It doesn’t really make sense at all. Dresses too long…on growing kids? It obviously wasn’t taken care of efficiently or properly. They could have measured them and bought off the peg…from people who make kids wedding attire. It neither makes Meghan, Harry or Givenchy look good. Wasn’t there some fuss with Meghan’s dress too? Apparently it was never right and just kept going down to the wire.

If it’s true.

I think that Megan told porkies because she was/is deliberately trying to sell a Hollywood version of her story into the US. But the problem is she coudn't quite decide what sort of film she wanted it to be.

Is it a Princess Diaries style rom-com about an ordinary California gal who wound up making amusing pratfalls amongst a stuffy, out of touch bunch of British aristos, before teaching her witless, hapless boyfriend the meaning of love?

or is it more like Erin Brockovich, where a brave racial minority woman braves a hard scrabble background and abusive family to carve out a niche for herself, only to be kidnapped, Mysteries of Udolpho style, by an evil cartel of colonisers and forced into a luxorious lifestyle crumbling cottage, before she bravely manages to escape?

MM's self-told narrative has veered between these two scenarios from the Oprah interview onwards. There's just one teeny problem with both of them. To quote a very wise man (Edmund Blackadder)...it's bollocks.

They are correct, so what is the problem?
if you want to moan about the royal family why not stick with the main players? They are ripping off tax payers as the biggest welfare spongers.

Who is correct?

One of my parents is from the West Indies, and my DNA, from them, is a mix from several West African countries (Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Benin and Togo, Ivory Coast) and also various European countries, which ties in with the terrible history of the slave trade, so I doubt the 43% Nigerian claim.

It’s just another of Meghans made to fit the narrative claims.

A couple have made tens of millions out of gossiping but somehow it’s not “nice” to gossip about them. I do not think I have ever come close to being as unkind as Harry. They may have moved on from spare, and the rest of the kiss and tell shit, although Harry was still at in Canada this year. They or their supporters do not get to dictate when others are finished talking about it. As for the lies even the writer and Harry have admitted it’s a man’s memory (on drugs) and not necessarily the truth. Maybe Harry should take others advice on here and talk about Andrew.

Excellent.

I have never heard the story of the dresses told from the tailor's point of view. It seems the dresses were really bad. Why did M have to use a designer in another country for the children's dresses? London is one of the leading fashion capitals. There's plenty of people who could have made them.

willWillSmithsmith · 29/05/2024 09:03

The First Lady of Nigeria is not buying their BS behaviour. Wise woman.

I find it hard to believe that the exchange is verbatim. It’s stilted and disjointed, too much information missing.

I can believe that these are snippets from a longer conversation that have been taken out of context to make one party look bad and the other to look as if they tried their best under the circumstances 🤷🏽‍♀️

Same company as her wedding dress but they don’t specialise in kids wedding clothes. Either way the kids were very spread out…some, if not half were in Canada and the others in the UK. But none tried them on until the massive debacle. They should have sent people to measure them and bought off the peg from one of the many specialist companies in London. McQueen didn’t make Kates flower girl dresses, they came from a specialist company.

In my experience, people who tell easily provable lies either believe that their audience is not smart enough to see through their lies. This underestimation can stem from arrogance or a sense of superiority. Or they are habitual liars who constantly test their audience to see how much they can get away with, without consequence.

Meghan is a very beautiful lady.

For centuries, beauty has caused jealousy and probably always will

Meghan is a highly photogenic woman with a model physique. This is par for the course in the world she has worked in - nothing remarkable. But beauty is very subjective and I'm not going to start arguing about that here.

Are you seriously suggesting that posters here are jealous because they perceive Meghan as beautiful? It's a really cheap, childish and lazy jibe for those who can't or won't address the actual issues mentioned, and an attempt to shut discussion down.

It won't work here! Try engaging with the discussion.

How more conceited can one get

"What's been echoed so much really in the past day by men and women alike is 'Oh! We weren't surprised when you found out you were Nigerian, I say that mostly as a compliment to all of you, because what they define as a Nigerian woman is brave, resilient, courageous, powerful, beautiful,"

I was conscious of the fact that there are little girls that I meet and they’re just like, ‘Oh my God, it’s a real-life princess.’”

Yes - thank God for this wise woman!

The most depressing aspect of the H & M pantomime, to me, is just how many people do buy it. You get seemingly intelligent people on MN salivating about their clothes and jewellery, while turning a completely blind eye to their hypocrisy, mad consumerist lifestyle and totally unjustified self-importance.

What happened to critical thinking?

Its quite shocking that she said that. It shows the level of self importance and that she's really is an egomaniac.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of them, it is the press that fuel the flames. If every minutiae of their lives wasn't reported on from all different angles, depending on the newspaper in question, we wouldn't even know about half of it. They wanted out, they got out, they are living the American dream, let's leave them to it!

It's the press and posters like the OP that keep this circus going. I, for one, am getting pretty sick and tired of seeing these "Meghan and Harry are liars!" posts that rise to the top of the trending posts.

Change the record, please!

Oh but we silly wimmins don't have cogent, independent thoughts, you know. Critical thinking? We don't know her. We're just jelly of the pretty popular gal. That's the only thought in our wittle heads.

Unbelievable. It’s Meghan’s world and we are just swimming in it. Also Sarah and Sophie are/were not Princesses. It isn’t her title. She isn’t one.

Lulooo · 29/05/2024 06:03

One of the things I found so unbelievable is when Megan said she didn’t know much about the royal family before marrying and the elaborate curtsies surprised and baffled her.

Come on. Really? Who doesn’t research their in-laws before getting married? Was she short of material? Did nothing come up on Google re the RF?? Any out of millions of videos online show the curtsies and it was bizarre that she suggested she knew nothing about the practices and customs of the RF. Especially as there was photographic evidence that she’d visited Buckingham Palace in her early teenage years too.

My personal fave is when she complained to Oprah that no one taught her how to cross her legs.

And also complained that she had to learn the national anthem off Google, presenting this as a hardship akin to a spell in a Victoiran workhouse.

As a gifted and incredibly successful actress, surely observation, mimicry and line-learning should be easily within her wheelhouse.
