Oh dear.

Gauche doesn't even begin to describe these two.

MaturingCheeseball · 23/05/2024 10:20

What plonkers. Do they honestly think that someone who owns an airline (not a private-jet owning individual) is going to pay for free flights for them and their “entourage” - and then not make some capital out of it? The man’s a businessman. Maybe a dodgy one, but the guy still needs to earn a buck. M&H obviously are labouring under the misapprehension that people are honoured to gift them things and that great pleasure is reward enough.

Serenster · 23/05/2024 10:29

It’s also mad because it’s entirely what Meghan and Harry do themselves - they engage with people and organisations on terms which specifically agree that nothing negative can be said, and any public messages about it have to be approve by Meghan and Harry. So every engagement can be leveraged for positive publicity. They didn’t invent that…

ZellyFitzgerald · 23/05/2024 10:31

I think everyone saw this sort of thing coming, apart from H&M. Even before the trip, posters were commenting on what individuals in Nigeria would want out of it- and now it's starting.

Removing social posts won't help now. Shutting the gate after the horse has bolted comes to mind.

The royal family were right to distance themselves from the whole fiasco. I do wonder how Harry's going to blame this on his family because he seems to blame them for everything else that goes wrong in his life!

Isn't Harry supposedly very tight? I think he was used to never having to pay for anything. Everything just magically appeared. Security was laid on, housing was free or for a token rent, his expensive clothes were laid out for him, his travel was arranged by the 'men in suits' he so disparages. Any freebies would have come from within the aristocratic set who probably won't want anything in return, other than as association with royalty.

Now he's in a world in which he has no idea how to function. His wife should be more savvy, but I think she is so desperate for wealth and status that she doesn't ask questions either. So I think the answer to your question is that yes, they do think that they are doing people a favour by 'allowing' them to give them free jets and the like. Of course they are not. You don't get something for nothing. Not even when you're a Duke and Duchess with your own monogrammed doormat.

That’s easy - if Pa hadn’t cut him off financially (!) he wouldn’t have to resort to such desperate measures to earn a crust !

MrsFinkelstein · 23/05/2024 11:24

@IcedPurple didn't one of Harry's ex girlfriends say he was ridiculously tight? Cressida maybe? I'm sure I read about her being really upset that he asked to come abroad with him to a (?) friends wedding, then she realised he was flying 1st class and she was expected to pay everything for herself.

I would guess he believes his IPP status and protection have been revoked because his father and brother persuaded his grandma to prevent him from half in half out. H&M then traced Meghan’s roots back to a commonwealth country and were invited to visit. Were he still a working royal, which he possibly sees as a birthright denied, he would have been visiting as an IPP or on an official capacity. Consequently this would never have happened and if it this is his belief, he may not see this as his responsibility.

I do wonder if part of the resolutions to continue to visit commonwealth countries are for a mixture of reasons, in part to rival his family and in part as a way to force half in half out.

CremeFresh · 23/05/2024 12:11

Do they not have advisors? I'm guessing not.

Tlolljs · 23/05/2024 12:19

What I don’t understand is posters on here and elsewhere knew from the off this was fishy and ‘there’s no such thing as a free lunch’ but they didn’t! Not for one moment did it dawn on them that it was going to all end in tears?
Or do they just not care as long as they get to mince about a on a pseudo royal tour?

Tlolljs · 23/05/2024 12:19

Well if they do they’re shit ones. Or they ignore them.

I think it’s becoming clear to me anyway that I don’t think they actually care. They only care for the moment. They never think of the consequences.

MummyJ12 · 23/05/2024 12:24

It’s a case of either bad advice given or not taking good advice. They are well known for doing things their way, it must be frustrating to be a professional and not being able to do your job properly and not being listened to.

Very much like the statement released whilst Harry was in London, which basically said “I wanted to see Pa but he didn’t want to see me/Pa’s too busy”
Reports are now coming out that he was actually offered a Royal Residence to stay in which would have made a meet up with Pa much easier. Harry now looks like he lied about things. Why are they releasing statements like this that are easily proven to be false or incorrect?

ThePoshUns · 23/05/2024 12:24

Air peace have played them like a fiddle. Fools that they are.

CremeFresh · 23/05/2024 12:32

Them asking for the SM posts to be removed, makes them look even more stupid. They need to own it . They want everything their way and finding out it doesn't work like that seems to be a surprise to them.

Air Peace won’t be the only ones planning to exploit the RentaRoyals, plenty of opportunities for others. I’m just surprised it hasn’t happened before.

ThePoshUns · 23/05/2024 12:34

Exactly, they are too stupid to see it. Much like uncle Andy was.

I think that is getting a bit near the knuckle.

There is much that Andrew has done that is far, far worse.

But if you look at his early days as Trade Envoy, you could see exactly the same snout-in-trough approach.

And I can't believe they're making an issue about accurate portrayal on SM of stuff that they really have done, and did in public. No-one can be that stupid!!

ThePoshUns · 23/05/2024 12:56

Yes that's what I'm referring too, when he was the special trade envoy. Not the Epstein stuff, of course that is off the scale in comparison.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 23/05/2024 13:19

They want everything their way and finding out it doesn't work like that seems to be a surprise to them.

Well, it shouldn't come as a surprise. This is Meghan's own MO, being served back at her - use a person, institution or company for whatever you can get out of them, then dump them when they're of no further use.

M. isn't stupid. She could have foreseen this. I can only think she has such an exaggerated idea of her/their importance that she thought the minions would be just too grateful to be allowed to serve.

Tlolljs · 23/05/2024 13:58

God I miss the Queen.

It being reported that the UK civil aviation authority have concerns over safety violations at Gatwick, and have filed a report against Air Peace for noncompliance this week. The Nigerian government are now getting involved. The irony of the guy obsessed with safety and security, using an airline that is now being investigated for safety violations…..

Story seems to be they were caught with what’s known as a Ramp Check, a fairly standard thing across the airline industry where you park up and suddenly get a surprise inspection by friendly local inspectors who go around the aircraft and all the paperwork with a magnifying glass…

Rumour is Air Peace seemingly fell foul on some rules regarding electronic devices on the flight deck and some nit picks over document stowage….TBF they’re not the first airline to get dinked in that manner by regulators, various, worldwide.

There’s certainly no talk so far at least of major safety problems.

Thedom · 23/05/2024 16:59

Air Peace safe ???? Here is a 2 year old video from a German airline reviewer of a flight he took with Peace Air.

Amazing to think H&M have promoted this airline and their owner.

AIR PEACE HORROR FLIGHT - THIS AIRLINE IS DANGEROUS!

MummyJ12 · 23/05/2024 17:33

Err, I don’t think I would want to fly on an aircraft that has a few non compliant electronic devices on the flight deck!
“Oh we don’t need that, it’s only for the wheel release!” 😱😂
If it’s serious enough to have the Nigerian government intervene then it’s not something to be taken lightly. Nor is aviation safety.
The inspections are unannounced for a reason and paperwork is massively important. It’s not nit picky to want all paperwork to be in order.

ThePoshUns · 23/05/2024 17:35

lol at 'not picking' when it comes to air safety. I'll take not picking thank you.
