I do wish when Harry and Meghan get on their soapboxes about online ‘hate’ that a journalist would stand up and say “what about the hate, bullying and threats spewed in your name from the Sussex Squad, particularly against the POW? why do you not condemn them and their leader, your friend Christopher Bouzy who appeared on your Netflix show?” but no one ever does, it’s so frustrating, they are never, ever held to account for anything, no wonder they think they are untouchable, they are.

MummyJ12 · 26/05/2024 21:16

Couldn’t agree more @BigWillyLittleTodger
I haven’t screenshot any of this because some of the comments are typical and perfectly illustrate your point, but here’s a link to some comments on X from the Sussex Squad, aiming hate at the daughter of the First Lady for anyone interested. It isn’t going to go down well with the people of Nigeria I’m sure.

Gosh some of these comments are horrible. No I can’t imagine it is going to go down well with the people..

ArcaneWireless · 26/05/2024 21:44

I can’t see the comments thankfully. To hear that they’ve turned on the claimed Motherland is not a surprise.

The First Lady is entitled to her opinion and I daresay she was right in what she said.

I wonder how much of a welcome they’ll get next time.

MummyJ12 · 26/05/2024 21:45

What strikes me is that they share the same photo and echo the same message. It’s very coordinated.
It also looks like the bots are on overtime as there are lots of duplicate posts on different accounts.
Super scary.

MrsLeonFarrell · 26/05/2024 21:58

There are something like 218 million people in Nigeria, I think the Squad insistence that everyone loved and welcomed Meghan was always going to backfire. It's simply unrealistic to expect a single response from such a large group of people. I would wager tuppence ha'penny that at least 100 million don't really care either way.

StartupRepair · 26/05/2024 22:03

I wonder if Ghana has really invited them? They must be watching with interest.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 26/05/2024 22:49

Thanks @MummyJ12 I can’t see the comments but I can imagine, no doubt Meghan will come out fighting for her homeland and her people and denounce the squad and their comments………..oh is that tumbleweed I can see?

Maybe they have said they are visiting Ghana whether they have been invited or not, a bit like she was going to represent Dior, when in fact no such offer was made, I think, they think if they announce something it will happen just because they want it to be so, they are that deluded, arrogant and entitled.

BasiliskStare · 26/05/2024 23:23

So whether aimed at Meghan or not I thought the First Lady's speech was interesting

If Meghan wanted to explore / visit her heritage wouldn't you have thought she would have thought about culturally appropriate things to wear . Doesn't need to be national dress but perhaps covering up a bit more.

AnnieSF · 27/05/2024 00:14

I imagine the First Lady's conference has been in the planning for a long time. It has several serious messages for the young women of Nigeria so I can see why she might be pissed off with the Meghan fly in / fly out show. This is a lady who has been involved in politics since 2011 I believe.

I recall reading during the H and M trip to a Nigeria that only 16% of the Nigerian population have access to social media. I was surprised at this at how low it was.

AliceOlive · 27/05/2024 00:48

World Bank Report:

According to the report, which brings together the latest evidence on the profile and drivers of poverty in Nigeria, as many as 4 in 10 Nigerians live below the national poverty line. Many Nigerians – especially in the country’s north – also lack education and access to basic infrastructure, such as electricity, safe drinking water, and improved sanitation.

I think they believe if they announce their intention to do something then the relevant people involved will come to them with an offer. It doesn’t work most of the time.

DelectableMe · 27/05/2024 08:21

Yes, they must think an announcement will manifest, as others will make something happen for them.

Likewise…Yes parts of Nigeria are not as prosperous as some of the major cities but the telecoms/mobile phone networks and operators have got into Nigeria on a big scale in that last decade plus…they won’t have done that if a sizeable percentage of the population wasn’t going to be able to afford access to 3G/4G etc and all that comes with it.

I wonder how “access to social media” was actually defined?

MummyJ12 · 27/05/2024 09:15

This is a repost of Ian Sexton’s tweet. I’m sorry it’s not a link but if you look him up and scroll for hours it’s still on the platform. It’s confirming that Meghan and he are in touch with one another.
This is the guy who runs the data analytics and bots, he is very similar to Bouzy but not as controversial.

This! Practise what you preach Markles.

The bile spewed by their fans eclipses anything negative said about them online but they never utter a word of condemnation.

DelectableMe · 27/05/2024 09:30

I've never understood this, why they don't speak out about hate in their name. Meghan spoke out about her own experience of being targeted online, yet never mentioned Kate.
It's a strange, blinkered stance.

Oo that speech must have stung. Nigeria will be struck off their jam recipient list going forward and I bet they won't be shining any more lights there in the near future.

DelectableMe · 27/05/2024 09:31

Will she keep her Nigerian princess title?
Of course.

ArcaneWireless · 27/05/2024 09:33

Isn’t that what they went for in the first place?

DelectableMe · 27/05/2024 09:34

Publicity, headlines, money making opportunities - I suspect the title was a bonus.

The more I think about it, the more I think that she’s actually involved. They have these people who are such vile trolls and bullies with them on visits and are obviously in touch with them. It looks really sinister to me.
