Part 6 of positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether it’s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghan’s fashion choices (Harry’s too, on occasion 😉), there’s plenty to discuss Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. This is a relatively drama free zone - let’s keep things light! Clinking a glass of lemonade 🥂 to @queentim for the original inspiration.

I don't actually like this kind of thing on her as it is like the Nigeria dress - cut very low under the armpits and backless. It means that no support or bra can be worn and it results in a very low bust line.

As someone with, shall we say an ample bosom, I am always envious when people don't need to choose clothes based on whether it covers industrial strength scaffolding!

sausawyee · 28/07/2024 14:07

Me too @MrsLeonFarrell I'm trying to choose my words carefully here about Meghan.

Can we put to bed as a lie the claim that this woman was forced into wearing beige during her time in the RF. I’ve never seen a more plain and uninspiring wardrobe from one person.

Oh god yes. She seems to have latched on to the “stealth wealth” over milky tea colours and
worn them to death. Even though she looks waaay better in stronger colours. And in more fitted clothes. She looked amazing in that umbrella in the rain shot. That blue really suited her. Now she looks more meh than a big box of meh things as DH would say

These shapeless, baggy, creased, bland clothes do absolutely nothing for her. She needs colour!! And shaping.

Mmm. Why doesn't that surprise me?

I just wish there was evidence that Meghan and Harry (in their position) had some intellectual and cultural interests too. Harry's made it clear he has no interest in history and Meghan, despite being an actress, couldn't be arsed with the patronage of the National Theatre when offered it.

Wow. For 2 such privileged people who've had top-class educations, that's pathetic. They strike me as a pair of complete philistines.

skullbabe · 28/07/2024 22:16

Meghan said she wore muted colours to avoid clashing with more senior royals when she attended events with them. She didn’t say she was forced to do this - she said she chose to do this to avoid a faux pas and so removed bright colours from her repertoire at the time to - heavens forbid - be considerate.

(Case in point is the briefing and counter briefing about Camilla and Catherine and the case of who can wear blue.)

It’s more than apparent that she likes creams, whites and beiges now - colour definitely would suit her better but it’s hardly something to criticise her for.

Then why did she make a big deal about “look[ing] like a rainbow” on her last week as a royal after saying she never wore colour as a royal so she would blend in and not upstage anyone (as per her documentary - which also did a montage of her colourful last week outfits to the music of “She’s a Rainbow”?

She’s so funny - though I had to think about which mud bath scene because there were several 🤣. Yup - and wine.

'It’s more than apparent that she likes creams, whites and beiges now' - or has always liked them but made a big fat fuss about trying not to compete while still wearing her favourite colours. She's always worn a lot of black and neutrals. And she wore colours during her short sojourn in the UK.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 28/07/2024 22:29

Her exact words about wearing colour…

”Until that last week in the UK, I rarely wore colour,” she said. “I never wanted to upstage or ruffle any feathers. So I just tried to blend in.”

“But I wore a lot of colour that week,” she said. “I just felt like: ‘Let’s just look like a rainbow.”

skullbabe · 28/07/2024 22:31

Me too. I long to be able to have that look that Meghan gets away with. She is lucky.

Yep - I have 34J’s - would love to wear some of what she can without industrial strength support.

The trouble with the National Theatre patronage is that she would have had to interact with real actors. Not third rate soap actors like herself. So she couldn’t feel superior to them.

Didn’t she say in Nigeria that she had taken the hint about wearing more colour? So she did. And now she isn’t again. I think she thinks beige looks more “wealthy”. Shame 🤷‍♀️

Exactly. There is pre Harry footage of her talking about her preferred palet of neutrals. Complaining about wearing what you actually like wearing in order to take one more unnecessary swipe at the RF is faux martyrdom narcissism in action. The truth is she would not stick to a colour code (Louis’s christening, Commonwealtb service) and wore what she liked. She’s lucky, she actually looked half decent I those days, clothes well fitted and outfits well put together, unlike the baggy, wrinkled mess she looks like now ( see that abysmal outfit at the polo match in Nigeria as just one example).

So you're content to acknowledge that, yet again, she lied? And it was her personal preference and nothing to do with the other Royal women? Okayyyy.

I'm a lot older than she is and I wouldn't be seen dead in some of the awful shapeless and wrinkled clothes she wears!

BorsetshireBanality · 28/07/2024 23:02

She sews so why can’t she take up the hems instead of them trailing on the floor!

Yes - I think that's right!

Cable-lon-running-serial acting is a very different thing from being Dame Judi or Benedict Cumberbatch.

But they still both shock me with their cultural philistinism. It really annoys me from people who've had a privileged educational background, which they both have.

Quite! Just one more aspect of the victim narrative. "They bullied me!"

I'm smiling when I think of what kind of person it would take to successfully bully Meghan. Wow - that would be quite a feat, I should think.

Twistybranch · 29/07/2024 08:58

Yeh, her narrative was that she had to ‘ dim her light’ in order to be accepted by the Royals, so wore neutrals in order not to clash. Just another angle of her victimhood
