Part 5 of (mostly ๐Ÿ˜‚) drama-free and positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether itโ€™s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghanโ€™s fashion choices (Harryโ€™s too, on occasion ๐Ÿ˜‰), thereโ€™s plenty to discuss. Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. Hat tip to @queentim for the original inspiration.

And Invictus Games participants typically cover their own travel and participation costs. This has been a point of criticism for some, as it can create barriers for those with limited financial resources.

it's highly likely that his travel, accommodation, security, and other expenses related to Invictus are covered by the organization or through other means.

I wonder why multi-millionaire Henry doesn't do his bit towards lifting financial barriers for others by funding his own expenses.

Do you know?

Beautiful fabric in that wrap. She looks cool and comfortable in that outfit.

The pattern mixing on so many of those Lisa Folawiyo designs shared up thread is next level. Utterly beautiful.

By far and away the best thing she has worn in Nigeria. Cool and comfortable as you say and so much more appropriate

AliceOlive · 12/05/2024 13:06

Yes and with culturally sensitive coverage.

I love it.

Interesting how it's silent

I think that many people struggle to understand why inspite of the perceived increased risk of travelling to Nigeria that they are willing to do it but not do the same for the UK. This is because many are unwilling to accept that H&M feel that the risk to them both (but especially Meghan and the children) is especially high. (You only have to see the way that Meghan is spoken about over and over again across social media, and both print and broadcast media to know that the risk to her in the UK is not just booing). And so they will ridicule them for their concerns and minimise them and overinflate the risk to travelling to Nigeria.

Harry & Meghan went to Ilupeju Junior Grammar School Lagos for a Giants Of Africa basketball exhibition game. Love that Meghan is wearing the Aso-Oke gift from Saturday.

I do think Megan is an absolutely gorgeous woman but the styles she wears donโ€™t do her justice.
Iโ€™m no fashionista so it could just be me but some of the dresses donโ€™t look like they fit well.

I think you are correct that people do not believe they perceive their risk in UK to be that high. I donโ€™t personally believe they do. I think she doesnโ€™t want to go there and Harry does not grasp this. So itโ€™s easier to let him think itโ€™s about physical safety rather than trying to explain emotional safety to him. Let him tilt at windmills he will never slay.

Are you actually insinuating that posters making comments here on MN pose a risk to Meghan?

Very sharp!

H&M visiting the Governor of Lagos - loves sheโ€™s wearing an oldie but a goodie.

Naija girl! Brave, resilient, courageous, beautiful and much more!

According to this image, Meghan told the audience she herself is brave, beautiful and so much more. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I did watch it yesterday also and saw she was repeating compliments about herself that she said others gave her, just surprised to see it writing in something intended to be positive. Hope no one thinks this is normal in American etiquette.

Noseyoldcow · 12/05/2024 14:30

She is dressed way more appropriately today. Do you think she's been reading the criticism on mumsnet? Smile

upinaballoon · 12/05/2024 14:32

Maybe. The yellow dress is great!

upinaballoon · 12/05/2024 14:35

Women can look hugely attractive, even if they are covered in cloth from head to toe. Starlets - take note.

jeffgoldblum · 12/05/2024 14:35

Um I'm no fashion expert but that dress looks like a tent on her!
It looks like maternity wear?

Noseyoldcow · 12/05/2024 14:39

Apparently it is the Caroline Hererra dress she wore in the Lili pregnancy announcement - the black and white picture where she is laying down with her head on Harry's lap. I don't think it's supposed to be maternity wear, but it is a bit voluminous. Roomy silk would be my choice for the Nigerian climate too!

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 12/05/2024 14:40

I think itโ€™s the same yellow dress Meghan wore whist pregnant in the picture Misan Harriman took of them in their garden, remotely through an iPad. The picture that may or may not have had a tree photoshopped in, not sure what the deal was there in the end. Yellow really suits her.

jeffgoldblum · 12/05/2024 14:42

Colour is great @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar but it just looks like maternity wear to me , so glad I'm not totally out of whack with fashion!
Surely a belt would have helped transition it to a non maternity look !

Lifestooshort71 · 12/05/2024 14:45

'Brave, resilient, courageous'
I'm not saying yay or nay to that being a fair description of Meghan but it's not coming over in the photos where she and Harry seem glued together. Perhaps it's more common in the US for couples in their 40's to walk hand in hand everywhere but it's definitely not in the UK (even teenagers seem to have given it up as being cringey).

Sandwichgen · 12/05/2024 14:51

Love that dress! The colour is really good on her

Thedom · 12/05/2024 14:58

The yellow dress is gorgeous on her and, finally, it is something which is perfectly appropriate for the environment.

Shame it took her PR people until the final day of her trip to convince her she wasn't dressing for a beach holiday in Hawaii.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 12/05/2024 14:59

@jeffgoldblum I think belting it will depend on the bulk and volume of material. Thereโ€™s a danger of making it bulky and bunched over the hips if itโ€™s not designed to be belted, especially if you donโ€™t have a long torso. Maybe a loose belt just to give a little waist definition? I donโ€™t mind the free flowing look together with that lovely gifted piece on her shoulder - for me it looks very elegant and almost sari like.
