Part 5 of (mostly ๐Ÿ˜‚) drama-free and positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether itโ€™s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghanโ€™s fashion choices (Harryโ€™s too, on occasion ๐Ÿ˜‰), thereโ€™s plenty to discuss. Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. Hat tip to @queentim for the original inspiration.

Say what you like about the optics of the hundreds of fans wanting to greet Catherine and William in Jamaica, who were in the stands of a football stadium behind fixed fencing that is there for the safety of fans and players.

Now I understand why some felt the need to spin it negatively. It showed them as being popular which could not be abided by people who want to pit this family against one another.

AnnieSF · 14/05/2024 15:58

How anyone can compare an event in Jamaica to the reality of life in Nigeria is beyond me. Where was Meghan getting into the reality of life in Nigeria as opposed to hanging out with the very privileged aunties?

jeffgoldblum · 14/05/2024 15:59

I don't understand the point of this competition!
It's the royal family not big brother, you don't get voted out Because someone is more popular one week than another!

Regardless of people's personal opinion Charles is king now and when the time comes William will be king , this is how it works and no foot stomping will change that .

Can't agree more with everything you say here. I think you are referring to their time in Fiji.

Wow. I never saw this image of Harry and Meghan recreating QEโ€™s time in Fiji. I think itโ€™s nice.

But now we see just exactly how hypocritical the criticism has been of other family members. We often hear โ€œif Meghan had done Xโ€ on this board. it would be a breath of fresh air to have this disparity acknowledged.

I also wondered if the peach dress photographs a lighter color than it looks in person.

It really was a hideous dress and her hair on that first day was just weird. Maybe all rushed after the flight? Sleeping? I know I look like shit after a flight but then I don't get the Windsor suite ๐Ÿ˜‚ By the time of God Save the King she was back to her usual self.

For Nigeria & the Sussexes, this visit held great weight. Nigeria sought to dispel skepticism about their ability to host high-profile guests. For Harry & Meghan,it was a chance to engage in a hearts-&-minds charm offensive, which they executed with aplomb.

Nice article from CNN.

Meghan visited Nigeria as a duchess and left an African princess | CNN

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex embarked on what was officially dubbed a 3-day private visit to Nigeria, yet it unfolded with all the grandeur and attention typically reserved for royal tours.

So many of the Naija massive especially happy for Nigeria! They were and are getting trashed and unsurprisingly they pulled it off and showed more than many people may have known. Well done Nigeria!๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ

They absolutely can host high profile guests. No arguments there.

The question is why those two? Disappointing for Nigeria if (as SM would suggest) they had to be paid to attend.

And will others ignore travel advisories to go to Nigeria?

I thought it was about Invictus and not about Harry and Meghan charming people?

Full length view of the wrap and her shoes (Burberry Prorsum โ€˜Berkeleyโ€™ bow sandals in snakeskin gold and satin ๐Ÿ˜- no dupe yet but on the hunt)

Great to know the women have access to fluidsโ€ฆ

I ought to get some fluids down myself. It might help me to swallow some of the mince.

skullbabe · 14/05/2024 16:47

Just a reminder that there will be MLE in some of my posts as I said in my original OP please be respectful.

DiTePerdantTeMaledico · 14/05/2024 16:59

Happy to be respectful but that cuts both ways.

You may be acquainted with MLE but not everyone is.

Genuine question - why intentionally use MLE terms on a platform that is, selfevidently, not part of that sociolect, and where you donโ€™t feel the need to use them in other threads you post on?

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 14/05/2024 17:00

With respect, you canโ€™t really expect a board that is read by more people unfamiliar with MLE terms than familiar with them to understand what you are saying. Iโ€™m sure you arenโ€™t meaning to be deliberately exclusionary.

DiTePerdantTeMaledico · 14/05/2024 17:00

Indeed it is Jane

Just not MIC.

You are also in danger of the uninitiated looking up terms in the urban dictionary, which may give a wholly different and inappropriate meaning to the one you intended.

LaMarschallin · 14/05/2024 17:17

I'm curious to know what "hydrated" means in MLE.
Tried looking it up and I'm sure it doesn't mean what was suggested in a couple of sites I found.
The OP did warn us so I expected loads of new MLE expressions but I've only spotted this one so far.
My favourite jollof must be the wrong one
Sad

If people don't know what it is then how can they be respectful or not in your eyes? Is it like me using the word bawbag? Am I joking or am I serious? Do I have the ability to decide if that word is offensive or not ? Do I get to be offended on someone else's behalf ?

jeffgoldblum · 14/05/2024 17:20

Um I've just googled and I'm very confused!
Surely your not saying the ladies look full of ( sorry best polite term I can think of)
Manly love juice?

AliceOlive · 14/05/2024 17:20

skullbabe · 14/05/2024 12:21

And yup theyโ€™ve gone and done it - well done everyone ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

This takes on a whole new meaning now.

AnnieSF · 14/05/2024 17:28

I thought that was a rugby term @AliceOlive from Johnny's brilliant drop kick v Australia ๐Ÿ˜‚

Thedom · 14/05/2024 17:43

not everyone in Nigeria is happy about the visit.
