To continue the discussion.

I thought the comparison with the Duke snd Duchess of Windsor (last post on the previous thread) was interesting.

A visit to a dodgy regime, (Nazi Germany) because they would call Wallis HRH and make it a quasi-royal tour.

Of course, at that point Nazi Germany had a dodgy human rights record, but it was before the horrors of the Holocaust.

Let's face it, with the security and human rights issues there is no way the IG could happen in Nigeria. So that is sn excuse.

There's a fan of the DM upthread, not to my taste, but each to their own.

Bingo!

I would ask you to explain why commenting on a headline infers you are a fan but it’s pointless isn’t it?

I don’t have time to read all of this thread or the previous one but some of the comments about Nigeria on here and on previous threads have been so derogatory and vile they are imho bordering on racist.

Nigeria is a relatively rich country, near enough a democracy, with a young diverse population and huge gas and oil wealth. It has a serious problem with corruption but nonetheless it’s a hugely important, populous, and economically powerful country in central west Africa, not the back of beyond!

Who said it was the back of beyond?
If there is racism, please report it.

Oh, are you the one who's quoting the DM? It's a free country, there's lots of papers. Read what you like.

Well there’s a comparison with Nazi Germany in the op for a start!

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 18:11

Yes why is that so funny? That is exactly what the royals do, work on the instructions of the government

faux naivety! Bingo! 😆

I presume you are clueless on how the royal family works, no faux naivety from me, that’s your style not mine. How about you answer the question?

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 18:16

@IsoldeWagner nope not quoted the DM at all, you must be confused…

Salemforcuddles · 10/05/2024 18:17

The dress isn't a good look, that colour is really hard to wear

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 18:18

@BigWillyLittleTodger answering questions doesn’t seem to be in the spirit of the thread does it?

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 18:19

But you can answer the question if you like?

Nigeria is undoubtedly an amazing and diverse country but you are downplaying the problems it is facing. All of my dcs have friends who have Nigerian parents. None of them would ever live in Nigeria again because of the corruption and the political situation.

There's no shame in reading the DM! I've already said that. You can "refer" to headlines if you wish. It's not a big deal.

RisingSunn · 10/05/2024 18:20

GlitchStitch · 10/05/2024 17:41

I'm interested to know where the 43% Nigerian claim comes from. As far as I am aware Nigerian is a nationality but not an ethnicity in of itself, as the population is made up of many different ethnic groups. Does anyone know how this was tested or proven?

DNA testing… links back to region and tribe I believe.

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 18:21

never said it was, just don’t like being misquoted

Did you miss the bit where I said it had a serious problem with corruption?

But people only tend to mention the negative aspects of the country in the context of H & M’s visit.

shenandoahvalley · 10/05/2024 18:23

God this thread is like my kids bickering with each other.

Who ARE these M&H defenders who appear out of nowhere when they’re in the papers? More than once I’ve thought it’s like the couple pay people to post on here when they feel they’re going to need positive spin Confused. It’s so, so weird.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 10/05/2024 18:24

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 18:19

But you can answer the question if you like?

There are many threads that will answer your questions you only have to look on the RF board, and also on the posts here why we think this Nigerian visit is unwise, many of us have repeated ourselves time and time again so when you pop up as a new poster I believe on this board, asking the Bingo card questions it does get incredibly tiresome and comes across as being goady.

Salemforcuddles · 10/05/2024 18:24

@shenandoahvalley and with very familiar posting styles

Nor do I.

The Establishment Press?
You do know that the UK press isn't one amorphous mass, don't you?
There are many newspapers and tv channels etc reporting the news. They are not centrally controlled from a villain's lair.
There's a fan of the DM upthread, not to my taste, but each to their own.

Well, if that's the only bit of my post you find negative then I guess you agree with the rest of it. Criticising Harry & Meghan for being entertained by a corrupt regime is rather comical given the greedy and immoral antics of the rest of the family.

Yes it’s most bizarre, probably the Bouzy Bugle call.

Were all the visits you listed private visits by the royals or at the request of the government?

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 18:28

@BigWillyLittleTodger

Yes, I do not visit the Royal boards often. I clicked on the thread because I was interested to read about the visit & I’m bored (waiting for dc to finish a club). I don’t believe I’ve said anything goady but that may be because I don’t come here much 🤷🏻‍♀️

So start a thread about them.
This is about The Royal Sussex trip to Nigeria.
Reported differently in different news outlets. Because it's not one big "press".

It wouldn't surprise me at all.

Pollipops1 · 10/05/2024 18:33

This is about The Royal Sussex trip to Nigeria.

I thought it was hence why I clicked on. But it appears that unless you agree it’s terrible to visit Nigeria & bad to wear too much bronzer you’re view is somehow less welcome. And then the last few pages have descended into banal back & forth.
